The superstar Bruce Springsteen was giving a concert in Manchester, England, and he stopped to talk about what was happening in the country he loves.
He was about to sing “My City in Ruins.”
Watching is better but if you prefer to read:
There’s some very weird, strange and dangerous shit going on out there right now. In America, they are persecuting people for using their right to free speech and voicing their dissent. This is happening now.
In America, the richest men are taking satisfaction in abandoning the world’s poorest children to sickness and death. This is happening now.
In my country, they’re taking sadistic pleasure in the pain they inflict on loyal American workers.
They’re rolling back historic civil rights legislation that has led to a more just and plural society.
They are abandoning our great allies and siding with dictators against those struggling for their freedom. They are defunding American universities that won’t bow down to their ideological demands.
They are removing residents off American streets and, without due process of law, are deporting them to foreign detention centers and prisons. This is all happening now.
A majority of our elected representatives have failed to protect the American people from the abuses of an unfit president and a rogue government. They have no concern or idea for what it means to be deeply American.
The America l’ve sung to you about for 50 years is real and regardless of its faults is a great country with a great people. So we’ll survive this moment. Now, I have hope, because I believe in the truth of what the great American writer James Baldwin said. He said, “In this world, there isn’t as much humanity as one would like, but there’s enough.” Let’s pray.
President Trump was very angry when he heard that the very popular Bruce Springsteen spoke out in dissent about the darkness across our land.
Trump posted this:

Was that last sentence a warning? What a petty, thin-skinned, vengeful man he is.

Trump is also renewing his attacks on Taylor Swift.

He has very thin skin.
I read that he said Taylor Swift’s career is over because she didn’t support him

This pathetic excuse for a human being is so damaged, insecure, narcissistic, delusional….I could go on forever….that he has to go after anyone who says anything critical about him, which is part of the job description for any public figure. But HE always reverts to the training by his evil mentor, Roy Cohn, and never lets any affront go by without attacking the offender. But this behavior from the President of the United States????!!!! So sad for us!
And what does his last line mean? Currently, Drama Queen righties are clutching their pearls about James Comey posting seashells saying 86-47, meaning “Get rid of Trump, 47th President”, but so many Karen-type righties are crying about it being a threat to harm their Dear Leader. Same old playbook of putting lefties on the defensive trying to explain & defend what the really meant. Same with all of these recent revelations about Dems covering up for Biden’s decline–again, putting them on the defensive. F— that! Dems should just say, shut the f— up and don’t try to turn the multitude of Trumps deficiencies back on us. Yes, Biden was slipping, but he wasn’t the babbling, sleepy, incoherent person they try to depict him as. If Dems covered things up, it was because they didn’t want the rest of the world to feel that he wasn’t capable of running the country. But there is no way he was as bad as they now try to portray him in order to deflect from the demented deficiencies of our corrupt Moron-in-Chief. Dems want to play fair & do the right thing & follow norms, and even obey actual laws & the Constitution! What a bunch of weaklings–obeying laws! Ha!

TRUMP LOSES, CONSTITUTION WINS 7 to 2
On Friday, May 16, the overwhelming majority of U.S. Supreme Court Justices ruled that the Trump Administration and ICE must follow our Constitution and provide EACH and EVERY immigrant and non-citizen their constitutional right to Due Process, whether or not the person came into this country illegally.
THE COURT RULED that every single potential deportee must be given:
Sufficient time to obtain a lawyer.
Sufficient time to write and file in court a legal petition against deportation.
Sufficient time to have their days in court to judge whether or not they can be deported.
The fact that the Supreme Court ruled 7 to 2 against Trump and ICE means that the Supreme Court has come down HARD on the side of our Constitution which says that ANYONE “under the jurisdiction” of the United States MUST BE GIVEN DUE PROCESS.
Giving Due Process to each and every potential deportee means that there will be many thousands, maybe even millions of court cases that will take years and many millions of tax dollars to pursue. The process of deporting people is going to be very slow and very costly.
HOW MUCH will it cost? Well, Tom Homan, head of ICE, says that the deportation program will cost U.S. taxpayers $150 billion (which is 150,000 millions of dollars). And that doesn’t include the huge cost to the economy because of the disruption of many areas, such as the farming and food-processing industry where loss of workers will drive up the cost of food at the supermarket.
Like the border wall, no one but us U.S. taxpayers will pay for it all.
Our Constitution says that the U.S. Supreme Court is THE FINAL DECIDER of constitutional issues, so there is nothing Trump or Congress can do about this Supreme Court ruling. Congress can’t override the Court or change our Constitution by simply passing a law; Trump can’t issue any Executive Order to override the Court or change our Constitution. The only way our Constitution can be changed is if 75% of all 50 states agree on an Amendment to the Constitution — and with the states divided 50/50 between Red and Blue, there will NEVER be 75% agreement on any change.
America’s Founding Fathers didn’t discriminate between citizens and non-citizens. When our Founding Fathers wrote the Declaration of Independence, they didn’t write that “all citizens” have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness — our Founding Fathers wrote that “all men [mankind] have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”.
When our Founding Fathers wrote our Constitution, they very deliberately didn’t write in the Constitution that the rights of free speech, free assembly, freedom of religion, and jury trial are limited to citizens only, just as our Founding Fathers very deliberately voted to leave out of our Constitution any mention of God or Jesus. So, thanks to our Founding Fathers’ reverence for the basic human rights for all humans, immigrants, visitors, and non-citizens in the United States have the constitutional First Amendment right to criticize the U.S. government and to assemble to demonstrate.
No President, no Congress, no citizen can just pick and choose only the parts of the Constitution they like. Our Constitution is an all-or-nothing package deal, like it or not.

Trump used to use Born in the U.S.A. in rallies. Springsteen told them to stop using it (as did many other musicians).
Trump loved him back then. “Born in the U.S.A.” Ha! Then not so much. Someone (one of the few willing to correct the guy) must have told trump what the lyrics say and mean.

GOP legislators are killing his budget.
States and (some) GOP legislators and governors are speaking out about Medicaid cuts.
He lost a Supreme Court case on his go-to mantra, immigration – with a 7-2 vote!
And, they all go crazy because Don Jr got the ultimate insult, being compared to Hunter Biden.
And, now Springsteen (and popular entertainers who do win Grammys and Emmys when he didn’t)
Achilles heel! Ratings. Can’t handle when the bullied bully right back at him. Losing in courtrooms he thinks he controls. Losing (period).

The so-called Freedom Caucus rejected the bill because they want deeper cuts.

I still think the only resolution to this threat is to follow this advice from Thomas Jefferson.
Over two centuries ago, in 1787, Thomas Jefferson, America’s third president and principal author of the Declaration of Independence, wrote: “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”
Patriots are those who are still willing to fight and risk all defending the US Constitution against tyrants like the convicted rapist, fraud, and felon in the White House and his fascist MAGA cult and those who will support the patriots. In the US military it takes about seven troops behind the lines to support every three who are at the front in combat.
Sooner than later instead of fighting from our homes when they came to get us because the majority didn’t learn from this history caused by one of the dictators the January 6, 2021, traitors, admires and worships. His role model’s last name starts with an “H’, who the sadistic sociopath wants to become but worse.

Some are speaking out but are we enough even along with the seven justices in the US Supreme Court who appear willing to defend the US Constitution against Putin’s Agent Orange, when the Republican majority in Congress won’t.
