Trump signed an Executive Order threatening to cut off federal funding from schools that “indoctrinate” students on issues related to race and gender. The order is titled “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling.”
Let’s start by acknowledging that this order is in direct violation of a law that was passed in 1970 to prevent the federal government from imposing any curriculum on the nation’s schools. This provision has been repeatedly renewed. Neither party wanted the other to impose its views on the schools, which is what Trump seeks to do.
The law says:
“No provision of any applicable program shall be construed to authorize any department, agency, officer, or employee of the United States to exercise any direction, supervision, or control over the curriculum, program of instruction, [or] administration…of any educational institution…or over the selection of library resources, textbooks, or other printed or published instructional materials.” P.L. 103-33, General Education Provisions Act, Section 432.
What Trump ordered is illegal.
Trump is expressing the views of far-right extremist groups, like “Moms for Liberty,” who hate public schools for teaching honest accurate history about racism. They want teachers to say that there was racism long, long ago, but not any more. They vehemently oppose any discussion of systemic racism (they call such discussion “critical race theory,” which of course must never be mentioned).
Any discussion of the reality of racism is forbidden by this order.
Even more threatening to the extremists is what they call “radical gender ideology.” That would be any discussion that acknowledges that LGBT+ people exist. They believe that just talking about the existence of such people–widespread on television, movies, and the Internet–makes children turn gay or even transgender.
Trump’s executive order threatens to withhold federal funding from any school where yea gets “indoctrinate” their students to consider the existence of systemic racism or sexuality.
It is Trump’s hope that with the actions he take, non- binary people–that is, LGTB+–will cease to exist.
Trump’s friend Elon Musk posted yesterday a graphic showing that in the distant past, there were two genders; in the recent past there were “73 genders.” Starting in 2025, his post said, there will be only two genders. Musk is the father of a transgender daughter, who was originally named Xavier. With his gleeful tweet, he seems to be trying to erase his daughter.

Musk is no genius. He’s a very dangerous person who spouts lies. In my opinion, people who lie are not geniuses, but plain liars. If they were geniuses, they wouldn’t have to lie.

Yeh, yeh, yeh, we know what the law says — but Trump has never even in his entire civilian life cared about the law, and now that he is President he feels completely free to ignore any law that doesn’t suit his purposes, and neither Congress, nor the Justice Department, nor the Supreme Court is going to oppose him.
Oh, yes! There’s the Democratic Party. What a laugh! Spineless and devious, the Democratic Party and its congressional members won’t do anything more than talk.
There is absolutely nothing that can stop Trump from ending our republic, turning it into a mere facade of freedom.

There is absolutely nothing that can stop. . . .”
Why is that? Because he is just a pawn of the xtian reich wing theofascist nationalists. He gets to play top dog as long as they want. When they are through with him he’ll be disposed of so that they can install Vance. My guess is within the next two years.

Trump and Republicans do NOT want schools to teach authentic history and civics because – inevitably – that would lead to discussions about American democratic values and principles, including “liberty and justice for all.”
Trump and Republicans do NOT believe in equality and justice; they do not subscribe to justice and tolerance; and they clearly do not believe that one of the core purposes of government is to promote the general welfare.
Yesterday, after blaming the plane-helicopter crash in DC on Joe Biden and Barack Obama and Pete Buttigieg and DEI without a single shred of evidence — because there isn’t any — Trump signed an executive order “officially” blaming the Biden administration and “woke policies.”
Standing behind him was Pete Hegseth, the Fox talking head, misogynist and drunkard who, because of Trump and Republicans, is now Defense Secretary. Hegseth said, with a straight face, that
“The era of DEI is gone at the Defense Department, and we need the best and brightest, whether it’s in our air-traffic control or whether it’s in our generals or whether it’s throughout government.”
The “best and brightest?”
Let’s look.
Trump, a pathological liar, racist, misogynist, convicted felon and adjudicated rapist, grifter, Russian asset, and seditious traitor.
Pete Hegseth, a white supremacist, a drunk, a serial adulterer, and a management failure.
RFK, Jr,. AKA Brain Worm Man, a vaccine denier, liar, drug addict, and all-around conspiracy theorist with zero medical credentials.
Kash Patel, a liar, election denier, conspiracy theorist, and traitor.
Kristi Noem, dog murderer.
There are more. But NONE of these people are anywhere in the universe of the “best and brightest.”
As Susan Glasser at the New Yorker noted about that bizarro Trump press conference yesterday,
“Trump said loud and clear what those surrounding him often try to hide on his behalf: He does not care about facts. He does not care about leading the country…Trump is the crisis—is, was, and will continue to be.”
History and civics and the Constitution be damned.

Any close study of history, civics and the Constitution would be very awkward for the liars, frauds, and traitors who wil surround Trump.

Agreed. We assumed he would be as bad as he was, as stupid as he was, as arrogant as he was, as mendacious as he was.
But it’s way different now. Someone is pulling the strings. Stephen Miller? JD Vance? Elon Musk? Trump is on autopilot, following the plan.
Offering two million civil servants a buyout? That’s what Musk did at Twitter when he cleaned house. But many of those who took the buyout never got the promised payout. Many people in DC are warning their colleagues “Do not resign. It’s a fraud. You will never see the promised money.”
Then there’s the effort to stop paying on almost all federal programs, throwing them into chaos. That sounds like Vance channeling rightwing guru Curtis Yarvin.
My guess: whoever is pulling Trump’s strings wants to close down the government and make him dictator.
This is a nightmare.

I was watching him signing an Executive Order. Someone was handing it to him as the text was being read. Trump just sat there, nodding his head. “Yep…sounds good to me”.
He’s a puppet.
Then came the news conference about the plane crash.
When asked if the families of the deceased who haven’t even been named yet needed to hear him blaming the Dems and DEI people, he thought she was asking for the names.
Can’t believe we’re going to have to deal with this fool, again.

Trump is an adjudicated criminal felon. He is an adjudicated sexual predator. His constant railing on DEI following the right wing project decrying CRT and homophobia is as bigoted as anything presented by George Wallace, Strom Thurmond, or Jesse Helms. He believes he has been given a blank check by SCOTUS to break any law he chooses. He is a sociopath who has no concept of right or wrong. It’s that simple. He is a crook that should be reminded of such every time he opens his mouth. This attempt by some of his detractors to have a pseudo-intellectual discussion about the so-called malfeasance of DEI policy is a fools errand.
