Come to hear Yohuru Williams dissect and eviscerate the Trump administration’s absurd attack on “diversity, equity, and inclusion.”
Such policies are meant to broaden opportunity. They take us closer to our professed goals of liberty and justice for all.
Yohuru Williams is a leading scholar and public intellectual who has often appeared on public television to expound on African American history. He is Distinguished University Chair and Professor of History and Founding Director of the Racial Justice Initiative at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Join me on October 6 at Wellesley College.
The event will not be livestresmed but will be available later online.

DEI is about lowering standards to achieve racial quotas, not opening up opportunities for everyone regardless of race. DEI is what has happened in California, where few high school students are anywhere close to grade level proficiency in math, so low that the monolithically left-wing math professors in the UC system advocate bringing back the ACT and SAT for admission, even though doing so would result in politically incorrect racial metrics being achieved for admission. Grade inflation is so rampant that high school grades are essentially meaningless. But the teachers receive full pay and lavish pensions regardless of how poorly students perform.
Here is how DEI – “equity” over excellence – affects young people in real life. The parent cited here is a pseudo-scholar who is revered by this blog’s host. But even she had to admit how dismal her daughter’s public schools were. See the link to the NYT essay embedded within this linked article.
