Trump peremptorily declared that he was banning CNN, MSNOW, and Politico from attending press briefings at the White House.
This is an outrage. He is the President, not a corporate executive. He cannot pick and choose which outlets are allowed to attend press briefings. He indicated that he would probably ban other media, such as The New York Times and The Washington Times.
He doesn’t like their criticism. He calls them “fake news.” He wants only positive press.
Tough.
The Washington press corps should boycott his briefings. He cannot abide being ignored.
What if he held a press briefing and no one showed up?
The press must uphold the freedom of the press or no one else will.

Dear Diane, As always you see the facts through the fog of Trump fantasy. Thanks for telling the truth, always a thankless task, but essential in a democracy. You encourage me to do the same. Take care!! Peter Castaldi

Why, thank you, Peter. I am never fooled by Trump because I lived in NY when everyone “in the know” understood that he was a braggart, a phony and a con man. Nothing has changed.

In a pre-Fox world, I can see even conservative press boycotting on principle. With today’s press, do we really believe Fox, NewsMax, Breitbart, et al. would? They’ll thrive on having a monopoly on WH news.

The media should also respond with a lawsuit in federal court based on constitutional Freedom of the Press rights. The White House is not Trump’s property — it is public property of We the People and Trump is just a temporary resident.

Trump is being sued by CNN, MS NOW, and Politico.
The White House is not his personal property.

Great idea! All press should just ignore him. I can imagine how angry he will be. Sometimes the best thing to do with a misbehaving child is not to give any of the attention being sought.
