Pete Hegseth announced recently that he was ending mandatory vaccines for the military. He jumped on the RFK Jr. bandwagon, believing the nonsense that vaccines are a personal choice, not a necessary part of public health.
Then reality bit.
The flu took down more than 100 recruits at Lackland Air Force Base, a training facility for new members of the military.
The military lives in close quarters. When one person catches a contagious disease, it spreads.
After the number infected with the flu rose past 200, Hegseth reversed himself and restored the mandatory vaccine.
Not even Hegseth can stop a contagious disease from spreading.

I note that the Hegseth and the Department of Defense did NOT making a big todo about reversing the position on vaccinations. Hegseth, like Trump, does not like to admit he is wrong about anything. The flu outbreak at Lackland smack in his pretty face.
As a side note: Hegseth has down played the injuries suffered by the military during Trump’s Iranian Excursion (War) by telling the world most of the injuries are minor with the military personnel going back to duty. Now the military personnel who actually have been wounded are calling out Hegseth for his lies. Wives of the wounded are speaking out.
This is life in Trump’s administration. Everything built on lies.

For anyone who follows the news from facts, it is easy to see that Trumpland is in deep doo. Their vision is failing even as the stock market roars on. But support for this travesty remains strong. Why? Why do people on my state feel comfortable with the hostility of ICE to the law? Why do they accept a rigged economy that allows a wealthy man to access thousands of dollars to send his children to the choice schools, funded by taxes on the poor?
I could go on and on. Maybe it’s the liberal media. Could it be the communists?

Maybe Hegseth should only let in to his military the strong, the ones that can survive a little flu bug. Maybe he is culling the herd.
The country is being run by idiots!

It’s sooooo discouraging as an educator (retired), to witness such ignorance or lack of empathy in our country, not only of many citizens, but of many public officials, mainly on the Republican side. Truly intelligent people do not have to personally experience something before they can act to anticipate & address a possible problem. Too many Righties have to experience something directly in order to care about it. They have to have a gay person in their personal life in order to empathize with them. Or have a drug addict in the family before they care about their issues. Or a poor person, or an unemployed person, or a senior citizen who can’t afford their medication, or a handicapped person before they care about proper funding for Special Ed programs, or, or, or….
