No freedom in Florida! The state where personal privacy goes to die! Soviet-style mind & body control! I’m guessing the purpose of this diktat is to check to make sure no trans women are competing in women’s sports. But there are worse things at stake her. Privacy. Freedom. An intrusive state, a government that counts your menstrual cycle. Gross!
#DictatorDeSantis
Yes, it’s to target all 4 ? of the trans girls who live in all of Floriduh.
But also to discourage girls from claiming thier Title IX rights of participating in sports, and to form a data base that can be used to surveil young women who might seek abortions, including those using medication abortion.
Are you saying that this is a tactic to suppress numbers of females participating in high school sports?
Yes, Roy.
Strong bodies for women does not align with what the patriarchy values.
I assumed they want to catch trans girls trying to “pass,” but it also works to catch girls who get pregnant and have an illegal abortion
Heaven forbid you be one of the young women who doesn’t get her period until late teens! Does that mean someone will have to certify that you have the correct genitals?
Florida is where freedom goes to die. There’s no freedom of thought or body in Ron DeSantis’ Florida.
I think Women\ Girls in Fl should conform to the order by mailing (all!!!) their used tampons to their Legislators and DeSantis every month.
With copies sent to their congressional delegations!
Absolutely
When Mike Pence was governor in Indiana, there was legislation – later thrown out – that miscarriages had to be provided a burial. In response women began calling his office and reporting their periods had begun, how heavy was the flow and also that their periods had ended. They also sent used pads in the mail so they could be examined for missed miscarriages.
Christine,
Ohio has or had the same law on the books about 12 years ago. A couple I know paid a surrogate to bear their baby, because she was unable to. The surrogate miscarried, and the couple had to hold a funeral for the fetus.
Seems it would be the same time frame. None of these politicians has an original thought. All cookie cutter stuff from ALEC or whoever.
Cis men should mail DeSantis their used bandaids and tell him they are tampons.
Great idea
This cult is fundamentally destructive. Once they cloak it better in benign-looking and -sounding white guys and gals, “everyday folks, dontcha know?”, we’ll all get to see the ugly result. So easy when dummies do the questioning. Example A:
Santos got elected based on his lies, so don’t the folks who voted for him get a do over? Who they voted for isn’t who he is.
the banality of evil
In the name of “equal ejection ” under the law, boys and men (including DeSantis and members of the legislature and Florida Congressional delegation) should also have to report every time they ejaculate (including data, time , place and any witnesses present)
That way, if a woman misses her period, the state will know why.
By ejaculate, do you mean issue forth an exclamation of surprise and excitement?
Do women miss their period because men issue exclamations of surprise or excitement?
I don’t realize it worked that way.
Of course. It would be followed by an exclamation point.
In case you haven’t seen this article, the NYT published photos of what aborted cells look like last week. There’s no little homunculus in there; it’s a bunch of undifferentiated cells. There’s no paywall, so share.
If you hadn’t given the heads up, I would have thought that was an image of Brett “I like Beer” K’s brain,, after four years of fraternity partying.
Why? What are they looking for?
Recent abortion?
Gender change treatments?
Birth control pills?
Pregnant?
And, it is normal for endurance athletes to not menstruate.
They get the information, Then what?
What happens to the information? Who receives it? Who gets the information?
What flags are they looking for that crosses some line?
Who do they report it to?
Will parents be informed of that? What kind of grilling will the women suffer explaining their body functions to school officials?
And, where is the information?
* Schools always require physicals for sports. The school gets NO information about the student; just that s/he has no physical reason not to participate.
* Schools and nurses keep some information about a child’s health (vaccines – ha! – allergies, etc.). It’s confidential. In most places (can’t speak for all) the information is NOT digitized and NOT shared with administrators unless “life or death” condition for observation.
* FERPA
* “Need to know”
Sadly none of the above matters to the men in power looking for another way to keep women “in their place” and pander for votes and donations among their masses.
Let the law suits begin.
And…
Wait until the day daddy’s little girl grows up and one day asks, probably after filling out the period-form and ask daddy, “Why did you do that?”
DeSantis and whoever writes his material continually reveal their absolute ignorance of how women’s bodies work.
The normal age range for onset of menses is 8-17. Some girls have extremely irregular periods for several years. Some have dymensorrhea caused by sports participation. Some take medication which supresses menstruation for health reasons or in order to be effective athletes. Some take birth control pills due to endometriosis, painful periods or fibroids or to avoid pregnancy.
Tracking menstrual periods will reveal no information about gender assigned at birth.

Perhaps not, but it will reveal a great deal about the men who are tracking the menstrual periods.
What would you call such a person anyway?
A menstruologist?
Or just a nut?
A s#!^&*$@!
When will the MAGA RINO theofascists and their want-to-be leader Dangerously Deranged DeSantis pass legislation that mandates multiple cameras in every public restroom and statutory child’s bedroom and bathroom that will be monitored by an AI programmed to report anyone that isn’t doing exactly what is expected of them based on what Rabid Leaders like DDD says?
I would not be surprised of legislation for that intrusion into our private lives has already been introduced and even passed by some or all RED states legislatures and signed by RED State governors.
If that day comes or is already here, you may want to know how to thwart MAGA RINO theofascist facial recognition apps.

Some general background here.
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/florida-athletes-menstrual-periods/
Nothing in the Snopes report contradicts what I wrote. What is your point? That it is an official recommendation, not a mandate yet?
I don’t think I had a point. I was just trying it give this more context. I was interested to learn that Florida has been asking for this information on registration forms for 20 years.
Not exactly. All Florida has been asking for is the final sheet, where a doctor’s signature indicates the student is cleared to participate in sports.
So Snopes is wrong? Definitely wouldn’t be the first time.
I didn’t say Snopes was wrong. I said Snopes did not change anything I posted. Usually people post Snopes to refute an erroneous claim, not to confirm an accurate one.
I was addressing Christine with that question, Diane.
From SNOPES:
The committee voted to adopt a national registration form that makes answering questions on menstruation mandatory for student athletes, but diverges from the guidance of that particular form by requiring all answers (medical and reproductive history) to be submitted to school officials — not just the page with doctors’ signature clearance.
