I just made a donation to the AFT’s emergency fund to buy generators for Ukraine. As you probably know, Russia is losing on the battlefield so has targeted Ukraine’s infrastructure. Thecc Cc winter has begun, and Russia has destroyed power stations that generate heat, water supplies and light. Russia is making war on the civilian population, hoping to reduce their circumstances so that they die of the cold and/or starvation. Making war on the civilian population is a war crime, but Russia is determined to destroy Ukraine regardless of international norms.
Please contribute to the purchase of generators for Ukraine:

I hope you will consider making a contribution.
Russia’s behavior in the Ukraine tells all who are paying attention that the penalties for war crimes are not harsh enough.
I agree. If the U.S. had been adequately punished for its war crimes in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, etc. it would have set a precedent that might have prevented things escalating to this point.
Diane, why is AFT’s Disaster Relief Fund rating by Charity Navigator so LOW?
Charity Navigator says on its site that a) the info on which it based this rating is out of date and b) that the rating is based on a single metric. In each case where the Fund received a low score, CN says that there it was missing information.
cx: CN says that necessary information was missing
Excellent suggestion Diane. I’ll spread the word.
In other news, a day hardly goes by, now, in which some high-ranking Repugnican doesn’t advocate outright treason.
See, for example, MTG’s recent comments about January 6th. Is calling for an armed attack on one’s colleagues and expressing one’s desire to lead this not reason for expulsion? If it isn’t, then WT__ is?
MTG’s comments were treasonous. She said, in reference to the insurrection of Jan 6, if we planned this, everyone would have been armed and we would have succeeded.
Those who believe the idea of a stolen election can rationalize Jan 6 as a defense of freedom. In an NPR interview last week, Newt Gongrinch was suggesting that while the was no evidence that the 2020 election was “stolen”, there had never been an investigation of whether it was “rigged” By those who kicked Trump off social media and hushed him up in ways that “rigged” the election. thus semantics doth make treasonous voters of us all.
Trump was kicked off social media after January 6, that is, two months after the election. No way the election was “rigged” by kicking him off Twitter after the election. As president, he has the biggest microphone and was never silenced.
I emphatically do NOT agree. It is treasonous to break into the Capitol to try to stop the certification of an election. It is treasonous to assemble groups of fake electors and to try to present these to Congress as the actual electors from a state. It is not treasonous for a privately owned company to kick people off who are inciting violence and spreading falsehoods. These two things are as different as is a) robbing a bank and b) picking up litter on a beach.
And here we are 2 years and 1 month after the infamous call to Brad Raffensperger and a Special Council has to now first subpoena his testimony ???????????????
Yes we learn new things daily.
