I wish other states developed some type of a similar gauge to show how much money has been diverted from their public school budgets and transferred to both charters and vouchers. Certainly, no other state has any singular scandal that compares to the ECOT one. Many states like Pennsylvania and Florida chip away at public school budgets to provide revenue for charters and/or vouchers. I believe many members of the public are totally unaware of the impact of privatization on their local schools. People were generally unaware of how dire the circumstances were in public schools in Arizona, Oklahoma or West Virginia until teachers took to the streets.

Check with Stephen Dyer of Innovation Ohio to learn how they did it.
They also created a data set called “Know Your Charter,” which allows viewers to check the performance of charters in the state. Ohioans learned that public schools outperformed charters.

This is a wonderful effort. $14,648,988 is the amount that comes up for Cincinnati City School District. If you type in a specific school, you get the same amount. Several months ago a budget-savvy member of the school board quoted the amount lost in one year on a per-pupil basis. That would be a refinement.

I sent the link to my school district superintendent and asked the school system to join the lawsuit filed by Dayton Public Schools and Logan Hocking Local Schools, to recover the hundreds of thousands of dollars our local taxpayers lost.
A big shout out to Bill Gates and Fordham for facilitating the fleecing.
