This is Charlie Chaplin’s “Great Dictator” speech.

Chaplin says that we don’t need a dictator.

After almost two years of Trump’s second term, we know he is not wiser or more efficient than a democratically elected leader. Indeed, he is most assuredly less wise and less efficient than any democratically elected leader.

He repeatedly makes decisions that drive up prices and impoverish American citizens, while cutting taxes for the richest Americans.

He launches vendettas to pursue and punish anyone he dislikes.

He has built tributes to himself and hung giant flags on government buildings to celebrate his face.

He has virtually destroyed the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

He has gilded the austere and elegant Oval Office by covering it with gold doodads.

He speaks at public events with crude and vulgar language that demeans the Presidency.

He has alienated our allies and honored our adversaries with his fawning friendship and obsequious admiration.

He has attacked and insulted the free press.

We do not need a king or a dictator.

We need leaders who honor the Constitution and uphold the rule of law.

This Saturday is “No Kings” day across the nation.

Find a group standing up for democracy and the rule of law and stand with them. March with them. Honor the best in our ideals.
