The Trump administration, enabled by complicit Republicans in Congress, has betrayed our Constitution repeatedly.
Such as, sending troops to peaceful cities, against the wishes of their elected officials.
Allowing masked ICE agents to snatch people from their homes, their workplaces, and the streets without a warrant.
Allowing ICE agents to use unnecessary force.
Taking “the power of the purse” away from Congress, whose Republican majority has willingly abandoned its Constitutional role.
Establishing tariffs based on Trump’s whims, not only disrupting the global economic order, but hurting American farmers and increasing inflation for all Americans.
Enriching himself and his family by making real estate deals with foreign powers, selling crypto to receive tribute of billions of dollars, selling Trump merchandise, and accepting a gift of a $400 million jet plane from a foreign power (an act forbidden as an emolument by the Constitution).
Politicizing the Justice Departnent as a personal Trump vendetta campaign against those his enemies.
Purging veteran career civil servants who won’t bend their knee to Trump.
Twisting civil rights enforcement to be the opposite of the law’s intent. Instead of protecting people of color and other minorities who have suffered from generations of discrimination, civil rights protection now applies to whites, who allegedly suffer whenever any institution tries to help minorities advance (DEI).
Firing any government lawyers who were assigned to investigate his criminal activities.
The list goes on and on.
Trump acts as if he is a king. The U.S. Supreme Court, dominated by six conservatives, have granted him “absolute immunity” from prosecution for anything he does as President. Nothing in the U.S. Constitution allows this grant of royal power.
And that is why we must show to express the wishes of the people: NO KINGS!

I agree with the call to attend the Oct 18 “ No Kings” rallies . I likewise support the slogans to “ Defend Federal workers “ , “ Oppose ICE raids “ “ Hands off Women’s right to choose “ etc etc . But we can’t oppose Trump and his minions war on Democratic rights at home but be silent on his Warmongering abroad ! So here in the SF Bay Area hundreds of us will also have signs , banners etc. demanding “ Hands off Venuzuela “ , “ Stop all Military aid to Israel “ and “ No long range missile targeting Russia ! Peace in thé Ukraine “. Look Italian Anti fascists in the 1930’s didnt just fight Mussolini s savage repression against the Socialist Left in Italy but also opposed his imperialist invasion of Ethiopia ! So yeah stop Trump but internationally as well as domestically! IMHO

Agreed! I have been looking for creative signs for tomorrow and thank you for including the above. I am so opposed to the random killing of Venezuelan fishermen. How are these attacks not against international law? I just read there are two survivors from the latest attack and that tRump has B52’s circling the coastline off of Venezuela, (ABC New) Outrageous!

Stan, I agree with almost everything you said and I certainly agree with your overall sentiments for peace and sanity.
I do have problem with: “ No long range missile targeting Russia ! Peace in thé Ukraine “. The reason there is no peace in Ukraine is BECAUSE OF RUSSIA! Russia is the one lobbing missiles on innocent Ukrainians. I do believe that we should aid Ukraine in every way possible since Putin is determined to destroy Ukraine’s independence and sovereignty. Do we just stand by and let Russia totally devastate Ukraine?

I think Thé war in a helluva lot more complicated and two sided that the corporate media would has you believe. Yes of course I oppose The Russian attack on Ukraine but I also oppose NATOs expansion to the border of Russia which played at least a major role in the very unjustified Russian Intervention. Not so ? Then ask yourself this . If the Mexican or Canadian govts were about to sign a Military agreement with Russia or China how would the US respond ? I don’t know exactly but I’m sure invasion would be strongly considered!

If Putin was concerned about NATO expanding on Russia’s borders, he sure demonstrated a dumb way to stop it.
In reaction to Putin’s bloody invasion of Ukraine, both Finland and Sweden dropped their neutrality and joined NATO. Finland has an 800-mile border with Russia, meaning that Putin brought NATO even closer to his border. That “objective,” if it ever was one, is gone.
You are just parroting Putin’s lies. He invaded Ukraine because he wants to conquer Ukraine. He wants to subject it to his rule, just like the old days of the USSR. He wants its grain and its resources. He wants to rebuild the old USSR, with him as the new Stalin.

Look at the absolute tyranny in close US ally Saudi Arabia! Far far worse than Russia , But only occasionally does CNN or Fox or thé San Francisco Chronicle comment on that . Why ? Our interests are not aligned with Putin, although Trump acts like a star-struck teenager in his presence. Putin is a vicious dictator. He has abolished freedom of speech and freedom of the press. He murders anyone who challenges his tyrannical rule.

The Trump family is making billions in Saudi Arabia. It’s sovereign wealth fund gave Jared Kushner $2 billion to invest for them. Trump sons are building resorts in Saudi Arabia.
But here’s the difference between Saudi Arabia and Russia. The Saudis have not invaded their neighbors.
Putin is destroying Ukraine, bombing hospitals, schools, homes, power stations. Putin is a ruthless mass murderer.

In addition to all of the protesters, every logical thinking, patriotic, law abiding, public person needs to speak up against this current regime. That means priests & pastors, generals & other military leaders, governors & other varied state officials, CEO’s, historians, and even former presidents, judges & other prominent citizens. Cuz once he consolidates power even more than he has now, and then eventually declares Martial Law to be able to cancel elections, it will then be too late to resist his/their authoritarian takeover. He & Republicans absolutely will not allow the Midterm elections to happen cuz if Dems gain control of Congress, they will immediately move to impeach him & prosecute all of his lawless henchmen.

Here is a direct quote from our Declaration of Independence explaining why we revolted against the King of England: “HE HAS KEPT AMONG US, IN TIMES OF PEACE, STANDING ARMIES WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF OUR LEGISLATURES.”
BUT THAT’S EXACTLY what King Trump is doing again today by putting armed troops in American cities against the will of city and state legislatures — King Trump is making a mockery of our Declaration of Independence.
