On Twitter (“X”), The Recount reports that the newly elected president of the Central Bucks County school board, Karen Smith, was sworn into office on a stack of banned books, not the Bible.

The new board swept out a board of rightwing zealots.
I love it. I wonder what the titles were in that stack.

I heard that Zinn’s history of the U.S. was one of the banned books she swore on
They are true Americans.
Such wit! You got my funny bone a’tingling today.
At least, that means, this, new school board president is, more than likely, to, protect the rights of the school, to allow the schools to, choose what sorts of books should be, acceptable as, reading materials to the, students. Hopefulyy, she won’t get, ousted from her “seat” on the board, too, soon…
The Right have got no one to blame but themselves. One thing I have learnt about your USA is that the quickest way to make something a rallying point is to try and ban it.
And now they have thousands of kids naturally clamouring to read the banned books.
I wish Moms for Liberty would ban one of my books but no such luck.
I doubt if they have a wide knowledge of books published on the subjects you have covered.
I doubt if they have a wide knowledge of books in general. A group with ‘Liberty’ in their title who campaigns for the banning of books is bound to have problems with objective thinking.
For salacious reading she could have added the bible to the stack.
