I started watching the new “All Quiet on the Western Front.”
Told from German perspective. The young boys joined the army thinking that the war would be a lark, and all their countrymen would thank them. When they change into uniforms, they March off, singing happily.
Then they get to the trenches, and they are surrounded by death, terror, mud. I couldn’t finish. It was too horrible. WW 1 was a war that unleashed a bloody century. Totally unnecessary.
The way in which the American conservative Catholic church has politically weaponized the Republican executive and judicial branches and legislatures is staggering.

A man of convictions with a strong moral compass, one of God’s children!
A very good video that should be shared around the world. This video raises an interesting point for me. Why the religious leaders of the United States willing to stand up and criticize Trump and his minions? Why are they so supportive an individual who claims to be Christian but fails everyday to meet even one of the human standards normally expected of a true Christian?
There have been a few, very few, religions leaders who have spoken out against Trump and those that follow his teachings but their voices are drowned out by so many, many more who shamefully have joined his cult and kiss his ring on a daily basis.
There were several questions the good Priest asked near the end of the view. I fear that the religious leaders of this country are afraid to answer the questions but in the same light, by not doing so they do answer and their answers have are supportive of a person who, in my view, is a evil as a person can be and his evil ways have become a heavy burden for some many to bear in this country and the world.
This Patriarch Kirill is a real piece of work. He gave a sermon in which he justified the invasion of Ukraine because some Ukrainian cities have pride parades. Medieval.
If you couldn’t watch the NYT video because of a pay wall, I found the same video on NYT’s YouTube page and all you have to do is watch a 5 second AD first. That’s my experience.
