You won’t believe this post by Peter Greene, but it’s documented.
Trump announced a ban on TikTok, a social media app, unless the Chinese company that owns it sold 20% to two Trump supporters.
Greene says this looks like a shakedown.
The new company, 80% Chinese, 20% American, would then give $5 billion to finance Trump’s “patriotic” history curriculum.
It is a campaign gimmick, like the pledge that Mexico would pay for Trump’s Wall? Where will the $5 billion go?
I keep repeating that federal law prohibits any federal official from medaling in curriculum or instruction. This is all nuts.
Reblogged this on David R. Taylor-Thoughts on Education and commented:
Czar donnie the 1st thinks he can do whatever he wants. The rules do not apply to him.
Laws? We still have laws?
“Politics is in command of the curriculum,” said an official at Peking Normal University. The visits ahead confirmed this consistently. From factory nurseries to university classrooms, the political mission of education in the People’s Republic of China was clear – “to develop productive laborers with socialist consciousness.”
This just in: Republican leaders worried that Jabba the Trump will undergo molt just before the election.
“It’s not pretty,” said Sen. Graham, head of the Judiciary Committee, “and could seriously affect turnout.”
“This is actually just the larval stage,” Sen. Graham added. “The adult form is full-blown Nazi.”
Peter includes a detailed discussion of the first several units of the 1776 curriculum at https://curmudgucation.blogspot.com/2020/09/the-1776-unites-curriculum.html
It is a technical fiasco in addition to be riddles with inexplicable sets of questions and “proper” answers. I think this project has been designed to line the pockets of Trump supporters and perhaps be marketed to people who wish to be misinformed. Like Trump’s MAGA hats, this is part of Trump’s China inventory of products.
Ivanka has obtained several trademarks from China. One of these trademarks is also for voting machines. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/ivanka-trump-voting-machines/
very crucial point to put the word “proper” in quotation marks
Is it “medaling” or “mettling”? 🤔
I don’t think, school districts will adopt it. 😁
“medaling in curriculum or instruction.”
If I am not mistaken, curriculum and instruction were just added as Olympic events.
Medaling in Education
Medaling in education
Really a disgrace
Silver, gold and bronz-ination
Worse than losing race
The profound irony is that the guy pushing “patriotic education” is, in fact, a traitor–an agent of a foreign government.

They can’t legally meddle in curricula, but they can fund the creation of a slew of anti-equality (“patriotic”) charter schools and/or vouchers for private, “patriotic” religious schools. It’s what they do.
You obviously are not up on your patriotic history (which started with Nixon)
When the President does it, that means that it is not illegal.
The only time the Trump Administration mentions public schools or public school students is when they’re bashing them or imposing some low quality junk on our students.
If they don’t support our schools and students, and they don’t, could we at least request they leave us completely out of their political campaigns?
It’s unfair to public school students for these DC political operatives to continue to use them as props. Have the decency to leave our kids out of your campaign tactics and gimmicks.
Dumb this cheap junk in elite private schools! See if they want it. Why do I want any part of this corrupt Trump Administration deal? Yuck. No thanks.
The ed reform silence on the Trump Administration attacks on public schools and public school students is instructive.
Not one of these “public education” advocates stepped up to defend our kids or our schools. Once again public school students are the collateral damage of the charter/voucher movement. As long as Trump promotes and funds THEIR schools he’s assured of their silence.
They’re lousy advocates for public school students and they utterly dominate policy circles in DC. Public school students deserve better.
Trump gave the first installment of the Patriotic History at a rally in Minnesota. He praised traitor, Robert E. Lee.
It would be interesting to know how many descendants of Minnesota Union soldiers liked Trump’s history lesson. Minnesota ‘s soldiers, who were the first promised to Lincoln and the Union, fought valiantly against Confederate troops while outnumbered, in one of the most significant battles of the Civil War.
“this deal is significantly worse than the original Microsoft deal that Trump squashed, but unfortunately for Satya Nadella, he wasn’t a big Trump donor. I hate to be cynical, but it’s honestly hard to see what else mattered”
Please don’t involve tens of millions of public school children in this corrupt Trump Administration crony capitalism where the President and his employees intervened in a sale to benefit one the President’s donors. I don’t want that in my child’s school.
Tik Tok is NOT owned by the Chinese Communist Party. TikTok is owned by the Chinese technology giant ByteDance, a privately held company.

China is not a pure Communist/socialist state and it hasn’t been since Mao died in 1976 and China started to transition into a hybrid socialist-capitalist economy.
Over 84% of companies in China are private and are not owned by the CCP government.
China had 15.61 million private companies by the end of 2018, up 178.6 percent from 10.01 million by the end of 2013, according to the fourth national economic census report. Statistics show China had 242,000 State-controlled enterprises by the end of 2018, up 10.9 percent from 24,000 by the end of 2013

No matter what Tik Tok agrees to do to make this sale happen, the Chinese government will not be funding Trump’s patriotic history curriculum. Corporations involved in the sale might be doing that and some of those corporations are based in the United States.
Hi Lloyd. How is China on human rights?
😐🤔
China sucks on human rights….but then the US doesn’t do much better unless you are lily white and rich. Here in America, we have socialism for the rich and everyone else gets varying degrees of crap.
China has elements of fascism in their treatment of minority populations. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/features/uighurs/
