Eleven years ago, an airline pilot named Captain Sully Sullenberger had to carry out an emergency landing with a flight filled with 155 passengers. He couldn’t make it to the airport, and he coolly landed his plane in the center of the Hudson River, smack dab in New York City. The craft was soon surrounded by small boats that ferried the stunned passengers to land. Not a life was lost. Captain Sully was an instant sensation, and a movie was made about his accomplishment.
Now Captain Sully is speaking out against Trump. He says what so many believe. Trump has neither courage nor character.
He tweeted:
“For the first time in American history, a president has repeatedly shown utter and vulgar contempt and disrespect for those who have served and died serving our country,” Sullenberger noted.
“While I am not surprised, I am disgusted by the current occupant of the Oval Office. He has repeatedly and consistently shown himself to be completely unfit for and to have no respect for the office he holds,” Sullenberger added.
“He cannot understand selflessness because he is selfish. He cannot conceive of courage because he is a coward.”
I am in love with Sully.
And yet there are active duty soldiers who support Trump.
I read a story recently saying that a) a majority of officers support Biden and b) Trump’s support among enlisted people is declining.
I’ll believe it when I see it. Haven’t seen it yet. Veterans and dependents included.
Has Trump attacked and insulted Sully on Twitter yet?
I imagine that Ivanka and his two sons are trying hard to stop him from attacking Sully.
Ivanka is flat on the floor with her arms wrapped around his legs to keep him from moving. She’s shouting at him to be heard over his roar. “Daddy, I won’t sit on your lap anymore if you send that tweet.”
And, his sons are holding on to his arms while he curses, threatens, and spits vile toxic trash talk.
Then a Secret Service agent sticks his head in the door, ignores seeing another family wrestling match, and says, “Sully is here to see you, Mr. President. He’s really angry. Should I show him in?”
Donald Eek Thinkly Skin, Always Lying and Cheating Trump shakes his kids off and retreats to the underground bunker to hide.
I rather doubt the Captain Sullenberger would ever given the Medal of Freedom from Trump. I am not sure that the good Captain would be even consider going to the WH to accept anything, not even a hamburger, from DJ Trump.
Of course Trump only gives out that medal to be likes of Rush Limbaugh, athletes, and the like. People who actually do great things and save lives will never ever be considered by Trump. And, of course, no person who has served in the military who is now a civilian will ever see the medal because at one time, being the military, made them losers and suckers.
In contrast, here is the perfect metaphor for the Trump presidency:

Will Trump refuse to concede after the election?

One of the truly bizarre things about the Trump presidency is that those who are his most fervent supporters–poor whites and evangelicals–are people for whom he has utter contempt. That he does is very widely attested by those who know the man (I’m using the term “man” quite loosely here).
Good morning ma’am,
This post is really productive. I am inspired by the ventures of Mr. Sully.
Thank you for creating this post,
Have a nice day ahead.
