EduShyster has a hilarious post about Kevin Huffman’s plan to “crush” the achievement gap in Tennessee:
Pay teachers less.
It starts with a photo of a young woman standing by the side of the road holding a sign that says, “Will Teach 4 Food.”
No extra pay for experience.
No extra pay for degrees.
Best of all, Huffman himself demonstrated that he could teach a great high school lesson without any prior experience or education or preparation. Or so the principal said who evaluated him.

Good Lord! I almost took it seriously with the way outrageous things are happening in education! Slow on the uptake with it at first!

I feel so sorry for that principal. What was he supposed to do? If you look at the rubric I can’t see how it’s even possible for him to have scored that high given what was in the article and the fact that he didn’t know the children.

Huffman didn’t develop the lesson; the teacher, a very good one, did.

I have heard she is very good. I have to wonder if it’s the lesson she would have taught had he not been there. From what I hear, she’s a way better teacher than him.

Hilarious!! This reminds me of when in the movie Gladiator the character Commodus gets into the ring with Gladiators somehow showing he is just as tough. What a joke. Did this really happen? Wow, he really earned that extra 20k as merit pay for his outstanding performance in the classroom.

I wonder, was it a lesson in irony????
