The Republican primary is shaping up as a carnival of horrible. Coasting in the lead is former President Donald Trump, whose ignorance, lying, and braggadocio are well-documented and on display whenever he speaks. His indictments tend to increase his poll numbers, and apparently are no bar to bring re-elected.
In the second spot, far ahead of the rest of the pack is Ron DeSantis, who wants to be known as the meanest one in the race. He will boast about how he crushed academic freedom, how he outlawed drag queens and demonized gays, how he made honest teaching of history illegal, how he encouraged book banning.
In this article, Reid Friedson contends that DeSantis’s full-blown fascism should disqualify him from office. But if the public wants fascism, there he stands, ready to suppress and criminalize dissent, debate, anyone who offends him.

DeSantis should have “greedy, bigot, fascist” as his campaign motto. In addition to undermining democracy, DeSantis is sneaky and, with the help of his coconspirators, the Florida State Legislature, he has been the most regressive leader of the GOP. All in the name of “freedom,” he has taken away more rights than any other governor.
When DeSantis wants to dim the sunshine in The Sunshine State, he gets gets the legislature to cloak his activities by creating legislation that will keep prying eyes at bay. DeSantis’ travel costs, for example, are now under scrutiny. Some dark money billionaire is paying for the private plane he is using travel to states so DeSantis can pretend to be an electable adult. The public has no right to know what is going on because the legislature has blocked any inquiries into the matter.
In a recent interview AOC was asked what she thought of DeSantis. She said that he is guilty of a gross miscalculation in his campaign. America is not embracing fascism. Hate is not winning among potential voters, at least not DeSantis’ version of hate. His “never back down” mentality makes him look more like a tantruming toddler than presidential hopeful. His speeches are no more than a compilation of hateful culture war tirades delivered by a shallow, aging frat boy with a penchant for attention getting stunts.

I think you covered very well all the bases regarding Fascist DeSantis expect you left out one of major supporters — his wife. She is right there helping down that road leading to the destruction of democracy.

DeSantis is far to the right of any Republican candidate in my memory. Others hinted at their bigotry. It’s his calling card.

I wonder how many of this country’s home grown fascists exist because of Operation Paperclip.
“Operation Paperclip was a secret United States intelligence program in which more than 1,600 German scientists, engineers, and technicians were taken from the former Nazi Germany to the U.S. for government employment after the end of World War II in Europe, between 1945 and 1959.”
That quote is misleading. It doesn’t go far enough. The CIA, also using Operation Paperclip, recruited Nazis involved in the Final Solution and also Nazi intelligence agents. A high ranking General in Hitler’s Army who was in charge of the spy agency focused on Russia during WWII was recruited through Operation Paperclip to RUN the CIA’s operations in Europe after World War II.
The CIA (the CIA had a different name back then) let that Nazi general keep his entire staff numbering in the hundreds. He was also one of the Nazis that planned the Final Solution. That former Nazi general from Hitler’s inner circle stayed in charge of the CIA’s operations in Europe until the 1970s when he had to retire. Many of his people, all former Nazis and spies from WWII, were also hired to come to the U.S. and train CIA agents to spy on communists and socialists everywhere in the world. The horrible things they did all over the world for decades is another horror story.
President Truman told the head of the CIA not to recruit Nazis through Operation Paperclip. Truman’s executive order was ignored.

So the problem with that assertion is: that you are sort of putting the chicken before the egg. There were plenty within the Military, State Department ,the Republican Party and American Right in general who were Anti Semites , who had no problem bringing Nazis into the CIA’s war on Communism. Ignoring a Presidential order to do so.
How quickly we forget that Hitler took lessons from the American Eugenics movement.
The bombing of Pearl Harbor forced these American Fascist into their holes for 4 years. They resurfaced after the war as anti Communists and anti anything associated with the New Deal. From Wall Street to Hollywood Equating any government social program as a socialist plot against” freedom”. Not content to attack programs as Communist they even in a twist blurred the distinction between Socialism or what we call today Democratic Socialism and National Socialism.
“When the American people wants something from Congress, regardless of its political complexion, if they make their wants known, Congress does what the people want.” …, “behind it will come other government programs that will invade every area of freedom as we have known it in this country until one day as Norman Thomas said we will wake to find that we have socialism.” “We are going to spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children, what it once was like in America when men were free.” Remember that S————-.

Given the history of fascism, surely violence is an acceptable means of removing fascists from office, no?l

DeSantis is way behind Trump even in his own state of Florida.
Trump would undoubtedly call him a loser.
And in this case, Trump would be speaking the truth.
And as we will discover over the next year and a half of DeSantis losing primary after primary, like Trump, DeSantis is not just a loser but a sore loser.
And a butt ugly one.

Republican candidates used to refer to their bigotry in coded language. Not DeSantis. He has run two homophobic commercials. Elect me and I’ll get rid of drag queens and gays!
