Asean Johnson, a nine-year-old student in Chicago, read the riot act to the Chicago school board. He told them they should be helping schools, not closing them. He made more sense than any of the grown-ups on the other side of the podium. He had only two minutes, and he used them well:
“With tears sliding down his cheeks Johnson told the school board, “You are slashing our education. You’re pulling me down. You’re taking our educational opportunities away.”
Will they listen?
It was moving to hear just how succinctly he was able to articulate the issues.
Children are excellent in telling it like it is. Chicago’s School Board members are not the only adults needing to hear this boy’s message. Maybe students across the nation who are also being affected by school closures, etc. will see this boy’s action and and follow his lead.
This is a student from a “failing” school that needs to be closed down?! I don’t think so.
Is CPS really broke? http://www.chicagonow.com/chicago-public-fools/2013/07/top-9-things-cps-is-spending-money-on-like-its-not-broke/
The kid is smarter than the mayor.
