Matt Farmer is a public school parent in Chicago. He is also a lawyer. If you have not seen his cross-examination in absentia of Penny Pritzker, the billionaire member of the Chicago Board of Education, you should.
Now Matt is in his way to the rally in DC this week, from April 4-7, and he wrote a great song, which is here.
Watch, listen, and think. Who is closing the schools? Why? Who benefits?
Fabulous! The kindling has lit the fire!
Chicago PS did not have a Dr. Beverly Hall or Michelle Rhee to cheat the tests scores high enough without getting caught. Next, close the schools and punish the kids and their families.
Only sign missing at the entrance of the great city of Chicago: ARBEIT MACHT FREI.
Playing Wagner while kids in poverty dodge bullets on the way to school. And, if this doesn’t work, the welfare checks of their parents will be cut next.
Chicago, stay awake, there could be more. Remember the Warsaw Ghetto? I may be a bit dramatic, but our kids are under siege.
H.A.–as to your last paragraph, I have been saying Warsaw Ghetto as well (&, as have others who agree) so, no, you are not being “a bit dramatic.” Unfortunately, you are being frighteningly realistic–this IS REAL, and that’s precisely why we have to stop it NOW. It all starts with closing libraries (or no libraries), banning books (!), and moving people like cattle. As Karen Lewis so aptly stated, “It’s not over until WE say it’s over!”
Very cool.

Great song. Love it.
Fantastic!
