Update: an earlier post reported that UTLA would accept evaluations based on test scores.
I relied on a story in the Los Angeles Times.
The lawyer for UTLA informed me this is not true.
When I have more details, I will post them.

I’m shocked! Shocked that the LA Times would get an education story wrong!

Cerf was confirmed? How long are you stuck with him?
Until Christie leaves at the least. But if another Republican wins after him…
Diane,
Off topic here…but did you know David Coleman was the treasurer for Students First?
If this google docs link works it is on the last page.

Try this link: it worked the first time, but not the second. Coleman is listed as the treasurer for Students First, Sacramento, CA.

Linda,
Thank you for posting this! My administration LOVES ACHIEVE and we have had to watch several David Coleman videos! I sent this link to my secret underground teacher peers! So far I have two responses of just cyber-cussing, #@#!*!!
They are trying to brainwash us….these faux reformers travel in vulture packs. The adminstration just follows along.
We cannot be the lemmings….it isn’t that difficult to give lip service, have a few canned CCSS crap lessons on hand when needed. Close the door, do right by the kids and subvert whenever and wherever you can. Keep checking in for links, documents, anecdotes, emails, etc…..this is the type of “data driven” material we need to live by.
Best of luck and remember we are the ones on the front lines. We see faces and hear voices of children. We are not looking at scores and graphs on a computer in an office far away from children who
think, breath, read, write, create and inspire.
My understanding is that teachers agreed to include test scores in their evaluations, but they did not specify the type of tests. Because teachers give all kinds of tests throughout the year, I’m betting they will decide which ones to use. You can be certain the invalid group tests will not be used. The court decreed that student progress has to be considered in a teacher’s evaluation, as required by the Stull Act of 1970. The Los Angeles Times does not seem to be making much of a fuss over the fact that superintendent John Deasy ignored this law, or maybe didn’t even know about it. It’s much more politically correct to blame “the unions.”
I’ll be curious to see what the union lawyer has to say.
