The video is startling. Between 3-6 armed, masked ICE agents surround a man, wrestle him to the ground, throw punches at him while he seems to be completely immobilized.
Then shots ring out, and the detainee is dead.
The Department of Homeland Security says he was armed and dangerous. The ICE agents killed him while defending themselves.
The sheriff said he was 37 years old. He believes the victim was an American citizen.
Yesterday, Minnesota held a general strike to protest the military occupation of Minneapolis. There were no incidents of violence.
Some Minneapolis businesses have opened their doors to help people who need to get out of the tear gas or pepper spray.
State and local officials have demanded that the federal government pull ICE out of Minneapolis.
Trump has prepared 1,500 US military to join the 3,000 ICE agents currently in Minneapolis, to subdue protestors. .
Is this America or Germany in 1933?

I saw two videos. The first one released shows two different ice agents shot the man. The second one I saw shows before the scuffle on the ground and there was no gun in the man’s hand. There was a phone.
It seems that these agents do not like being filmed.
And I bet they did not have body cameras to support their stories. This is just very disheartening. I can only hope that Gov. Walz can do something that will stop this. Since I am not a lawyer – I have no idea what can stop these goons.

Gov Walz can’t stop them.
Only Trump or Noem can.
Or a court order.

Why do we need ICE? I’m sure we can address undocumented immigrants without them.

We did before 9/11 and the creation of DHS.

Same silent Congress. Different day.
Another shooting. Roll out the spin machine. Blah, blame, blah.
They will dissect this a dozen ways. False claims. Presumptions of self-defense. ICE rights to be masked. Front page news about the Super slo-mo because it’s about the video, not the shooting. (Fact checking is good but don’t leave out the big picture. If this were a police encounter with suspected armed person the protocol is shoot (Travon, Michael…). Blah, blame, blah.
They will distance themselves from THE PRIMARY DANGER TO U.S. and US: the flood of ICE agents, gestapo tactics, like DOGE take them all out and distinguish who belongs (in country or government offices) later.

Difficult to be certain but there is some footage that suggests to me that the man was disarmed (by a man in a grey coat) before he was shot.

ICE will never concede that their agents acted improperly, and ultimately it doesn’t matter. ICE’s gestapo tactics have created war zone conditions that make this kind of thing a routine occurrence. More will die.

The New York Times says:
“Videos analyzed by The New York Times contradict accounts given by Homeland Security officials about the shooting. They said the man approached Border Patrol agents with a handgun and the intent to “massacre” them. Footage of the encounter shows the man holding a phone in his hand, not a gun, when agents take him to the ground and shoot him.”

I know the government has lied many times about many things for a long time. But I never expected my government to lie so blatantly about what is right before our eyes. Or for so many to go along with the lies.

Who do you believe?
Kristi Noem or the multiple videos?

It’s a good thing just enough Democrats voted with the Republicans to make sure the increased ICE funding went through. Funny how there’s always just enough Democrats for authoritarian measures but never quite enough for humanitarian ones. It’s almost as if they play for the same team….

The New York Times, just now:
*Federal claims: Gregory Bovino, the official in charge of President Trump’s Border Patrol operations, said without evidence that Mr. Pretti had “wanted to do maximum damage.” Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota disputed the claim that he posed a threat. “Thank God we have video!” he told reporters. “It’s nonsense people, it’s nonsense and it’s lies.”
*Multiple shots: Mr. Pretti has both hands clearly visible when approaching federal agents, video shows. He moves to help a protester whom the agents had pepper sprayed, and is pull down from behind. Agents appear to have fired at least 10 shots within five seconds after taking him to the ground, according to a Times analysis of social media videos. Chief O’Hara said investigators believe that at least two agents opened fire.
ICE agents barred state investigators from the crime scene.
