Disney announced that it was bringing back the Jimmy Kimmel show, starting tomorrow.
He was suspended for saying that the killer of Charlie Kirk was a MAGA adherent. He was wrong. No one knows the motive of Tyler Robinson, who had not been identified or arrested when Kimmel spoke.
If everyone who made a mistake was suspended from the screen, not many people would be left. The news could be announced by robots using AI. Comedians would disappear.
Disney released this statement:
“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country,” the Walt Disney Company, ABC’s parent company, said in a statement.
“It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive,” the statement said. “We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”
The outcry against Kimmel’s suspension was so loud that Disney backed down. His removal was seen as a test of the guarantee of free speech in the First Amendment to the Constitution.
Public protest mattered!!
Now what about the teachers, members of the military, and others who have been suspended or fired for not saying the “right” words about the murder of Charlie Kirk? The suppression of speech has been widespread and over-the-top, based on political passions and prejudice.

Outstanding news. I hope that the other networks will similarly grow spines, having heard these protests.

Did he actually say that the killer was a MAGA adherent? I believe he said that MAGA was trying to capitalize on the killing by portraying the killer as on the left, which is exactly what MAGA did.

On September 15, 2025, in his monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel said:
“The MAGA gang [is] desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

Yes, thank you for the exact wording. So he didn’t say that the killer was a MAGA. He just said that MAGA was trying to characterize him as anything but MAGA, which was true.

A distinction without a difference.

It’s actually a very significant distinction. He literally did not say that the killer was MAGA.

We will have to disagree. I read this to say that MAGA folk did not want to acknowledge that the kill was part of them. IE, a maga.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.

I listened to the video at the time (and then listened again) and my interpretation was the same as dienne77’s. Kimmel’s point was about the hypocrisy and it was true. The MAGA-verse was FALSELY pointing fingers to politicize the killing and incite violence against every group that was their enemy. There is no evidence that the killer belonged to ANY of the groups the MAGA-verse claimed at various times were to blame. But that didn’t stop MAGA from saying that group was to blame.
The point is totally lost if Kimmel had left out the point that MAGA accused every group EXCEPT MAGA. Kimmel’s point wasn’t that the killer was MAGA, it was that none of the other groups were responsible either, but that didn’t stop MAGA from falsely saying they were, but they made sure not to include their own group among the groups they falsely accused.
It would have been meaningless for Kimmel to say:
“the MAGA gang [is] desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as all kinds of things, and doing everything they can to score political points from it”.
If Kimmel had said that, the MAGA folks would probably have incited faux outrage by saying “Jimmy Kimmel said we MAGA folks ourselves accused Charlie Kirk’s killer of being MAGA and it’s his fault for not saying that we MAGA folks accused Kirk’s killer of being everything EXCEPT MAGA!”
What I don’t get is why no one is upset because the MAGA folks FALSELY said that Kirk’s killer was antifa or leftist or xxx. Those statements by the MAGA gane were often far less ambiguous than Kimmel’s in falsely accusing various groups of being the group that Kirk’s assassin identified with.
Why are MAGA folks allowed to make UNAMBIGUOUS claims that a group who had nothing to do with Kirk’s death is responsible, but if Kimmel makes what to me is, at worst, an ambiguous statement that can be interpreted different ways, his show is suspended?
Is there a single person from the MAGA gang who is even being criticized for false claiming that Kirk’s killer belonged to a group that he didn’t belong to? Let alone punished by suspending them from air?
The MAGA gang isn’t getting trashed and forced off the air because they told us Kirk’s killer is a leftist. The MAGA gane isn’t getting trashed and forced off the air because they told us Kirk’s killer is antifa. Or trans.
It’s typical that the right wing accuses their “enemy” of doing something that they themselves are doing 100x worse, and then claiming that they are being victimized because they had a very tiny taste of the gallons of medicine they force down other people’s throats all the time.

If you listen to the monologue, you’ll hear that Kimmel never identified Robinson as MAGA. He said the MAGA movement was tripping all over itself to make it not look like he was associated with them. He then went on to show the embarrassing clip of Trump reacting to a reporter’s question about how he was holding up emotionally in the wake of his friend’s death.
Trump responded by talking about construction of the ballroom.

Jimmy’s comment:
⸻
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it. In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving.”
He went on to show a clip of Trump being asked how he was holding up. Trump replied, “I think very good, and by the way, right there where you see all the trucks, they just started construction of the new ballroom for the White House.” Trump then said the new ballroom “will be a beauty.”
After the clip, Kimmel said, “Yes, he’s at the fourth stage of grief: construction.”
And then: “This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a 4-year-old mourns a goldfish, okay?”

Great news! Now all the age 60+ hate-filled Lefties can swoon over a “comedian” whose schtick only appeals to emotionally and intellectually immature Boomers.

As opposed to the people who swooned over Charlie Kirk when he called for Joe Biden’s execution, demanded that Taylor Swift submit to her future husband, said that Michelle Obama and Justice Jackson lacked brain processing ability, and constantly told his followers how he always takes note when someone Black is working – apparently in order to judge the extent of their incompetency so he can blame DEI policies for it.
Jason, don’t forget to tell the females who you believe must submit to men that “…birth control really screws up female brains, by the way. Every single one of you needs to make sure that your loved ones are not on birth control. It increases depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. Birth control is the number one prescribed medication for young ladies under the age of 25. They will give young ladies birth control for pimples, for acne, to control their moods, and their period. It is awful, it’s terrible, and it creates very angry and bitter young ladies and young women.”
What kind of person swoons over someone who calls for Joe Biden to be executed?
Are you a 40 something hate filled Rightie who swoons at deranged comments like that?

So what do you care what people watch on TV? Your post drips with ugly sarcasm and ageism.

The fact that ABC reinstated him suggests that fears of Trump retaliation was not why they fired Kimmel in the first place. I think it was a business decision – they honestly thought their viewership would approve of firing anyone who dared to not worship at the altar of St. Charlie. They knew they would lost some on the left, but they thought they would gain enough on the right to make up for that. They thought wrong. There may be an electoral message in here somewhere….

I’m still trying to wrap my head around how Robinson could NOT be following MAGA. Was he not following the Nick Fuentes Groyper movement? The imagery he associated with suggests this. Fuentes was both critical of Kirk and currying favor with T.rump.

I hope that Tyler clears up the mysteries about his motives. He’s going to face a firing squad.

I would not be surprised if it’s found out that he does love T.rump, but the administration keeps it under wraps until T.rump is gone.

True. You can never believe anything they say, like denying that Tim Homan accepted a bribe of $50,000. Covering it up. Pretending it doesn’t matter.

Exactly. More corruption from this administration just revealed. Hedge Fund billionaire Rob Citrone lost bigly in the Argentinian economic disaster and now his buddy Bessent wants the American people to pay for a bailout.

The part I don’t get is why are we bailing out Argentina with $20 billion while eliminating the food and medicine that saved the lives of children and families in Africa?

It’s because common people don’t matter to this presidency nor to the sycophants that work for it. Only money matters—hence the bailout of the Argentinian investment of Bessent’s billionaire buddy.

Trump loves Javier Milei, the president of Argentina, because he is a libertarian who was using Trump tactics–slashing the budget to bring down inflation. It hasn’t worked so now Trump is bailing out his mini-me.

There is a strong foreshadowing here, but I cannot think of anyone who could bail us out.
