Scott Dworkin, a prominent leader in the resistance to the Orange Menace, watched Trump’s self-glorifying rant and reports on it here. I subscribe to his Substack commentary, where this appeared. Just think: we will have to listen to this self-obsessed know-nothing for the next four years. I’m glad to let someone else do it for me.
He wrote:
Yesterday, unhinged madman Donald Trump held what he calls a “press conference.” They’re actually dangerous propaganda sessions.
In order to fight back, we have to stay aware and engaged at a constant. But I don’t want you to have to watch or listen to this bozo, so I summed up what happened for you here.
Donald spent some time pointlessly attacking President Biden. He once again admitted to lying about bringing down grocery prices, and mused that Facebook is likely doing away with fact-checking due to his threats.
He lied about Jack Smith executing people, whined like a baby for being prosecuted for his crimes, and railed against judges who are just doing their jobs. Trump complained about electricity itching—or something—and said he was going to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to “Gulf of America.” Very original.
“The windmills are driving the whales crazy,” Donald said at one point, for no reason whatsoever.
He even went on some bizarre tirade about water pressure. “It’s called rain,” he blabbed. “It comes down from heaven. And they want to do no water comes out of the shower. It goes drip, drip, drip. So what happens? You’re in the shower 10 times as long.” There are so many things wrong with that word salad.
Trump lied and said Hezbollah was responsible for the violence on Jan 6th—when we all know Donald and his rabid cult followers are to blame. He also nonchalantly promised “major pardons” for the rioters who attacked the Capitol—possibly even for those who assaulted police officers. What a disgrace.
Donny “Cheap Suit” then rambled incoherent threats about using military force to take over Greenland and the Panama Canal, and economic attacks to absorb Canada.
The orange ogre replied to a question about his plans for Gaza negotiations saying, “all hell will break out in the Middle East,” if hostages aren’t released before January 20th. Are you kidding me? That’s not even a “concept of a plan.”
And one of the looniest things that came out of his blubbering mouth was: “We did nothing wrong on anything,” related to the crimes he committed. Remember that every Trump denial is an admission.
This is the sort of unhinged nonsense we will be dealing with as long as Trump is around. And I’ll be right here keeping an eye on him, so you don’t have to.
We’ll be sharing this article with millions of people on 10 social media networks, so we aren’t just singing to the choir.

I can just see the headline: Trump Tilts at Windmills WASHINGTON — At his press conference this morning, Don Quixote Trump raged that “windmills are driving whales crazy!”

Please do not insult Cervantes by comparing the tRump with the original most complete character of modern fiction-el Sr. Alonzo Quijano. Yes, Don Quixote is considered the first modern novel.
May I suggest all pick up a copy of both volumes and read them.

Diane: Lawrence O’Donnell said Trump was using his lie-firehose to hide what he is really up to–much bigger things.
But I also see it as a libido dominando (an outlandish sense of self) trying his best to play overlord to what, deep down, he knows is TRUE.
But whatever else truth is, it owns both the short and long run; and so, it is recalcitrant. Otherwise, Trump wouldn’t “need” to work so hard to build false (rather than true) narratives around himself, not to mention to destroy those who speak it to power.
BTW, watch out for Muck’s double-speak.
For example, he (unconsciously or deliberately) confuses the idea of “entrepreneurialism” with his monumental ego and the “deservedness” of his cumulation of power and money, . . . thus, openly disposing of public oversight, transparency, his despoiling of the planet (both locally–see his Boring operation under the city of Las Vegas–and globally, his X-twitter platform), and even accepting that people die from his entertaining ideas; his bribery and intimidation, all in the name of NOT tying the entrepreneur’s oh-so-creative hands behind their backs. (I call it an “irresponsible” moron acting like a child.”) (Those, other people, BTW, are the ones Muck pushes out of the market by whatever means he has at his disposal–and now he has Trump, the president-elect of the USA, at his disposal.

Fiction has to be plausible. Politicians and scumdogs, but I repeat myself, . . . NO.
“But whatever else truth is, it owns both the short and long run; and so, it is recalcitrant.”
Woah Nelly!
Truth can be recalcitrant? Not sure what you are getting at with that thought. Please explain. Thanks
Seems to me that Homo Supposedly Sapiens has a long history of not coming to much agreement on what “truth” is. What is this “truth” to which you refer?

Duane: Short answer is that truth is the correct answer to a yes/no kind of question, or generally: Is it really so? yes, it is, no it’s not.
Did you put on your shoes on this morning? Yes/No. An I-Don’t-Know or remember refers back to the below.
Take apart any of the words or ideas in the above or any such statements and you have a question for meaning and intelligibility, not yet for the truth of it. Yes, it’s overlapping in one’s history of understanding and, BTW, of telling truths or lies.
For a longer answer, all human truth is conditioned (by its intelligibility and meaningfulness), but as truth, it has those conditions fulfilled in this or that case. This is neither relativism nor Absolutism. It just recognizes that, in concrete thought or discussion, all truth has intelligible-meaningful elements secured before truth is claimed, at least for those who have critical minds. (Yes, in common usage, people confuse these functions all of the time.)
In other words, no one only just says Yes or No without tacitly referring to some content. That content is meaning and intelligibility. To call it actually and truthfully so, however, as a concrete thing or event, I’d have to know whether you actually did put on your shoes this morning. And on the truth of that, I cannot say. CBK

Duane: Truth is recalcitrant: If a hurricane moved in X direction, but Trump says it moved in Y direction, nothing Trump says can make it SO that the storm moved in Y direction on that day and at that time.
But that’s how Trump and is Maga head-spinners play with truth–they change the meaning of words ala Orwellian double-speak (and in the weather map example it’s just one of several logical fallacies they commonly use) so that, for instance, a violent insurrection, which nails exactly what occurred on that date in its meaning/intelligibility factor, becomes for Trump a love fest.
And they’ll exhaust honest people by fooling around with the meaning of “love” and “violent” until the cows come home, as they keep parsing away as long as it’s to their advantage . . .
. . . like Mr. Money Muck referring to his entrepreneurial creativity being harmed (grab your pearls!) by lawful regulations that are lawful, not out of some sort of overcontrol of people who aren’t as good as he thinks he is, but precisely because regulations protect others and the public from Mr. Muck’s irresponsibility and carelessness. (What a jerk.) CBK

ADDENDUM TO MY NOTE ABOVE: The Las Vegas reporting came from ProPublica this week–a long and informative article; as well as of Muck’s idea of doing his damage and hiding it, BUT if exposed, only then paying a fine for it–so much better than taking on adult responsibility to others, especially while he takes royal advantage of democratic institutions, (like so many other “entrepreneurs”) and to the planet. I haven’t read Project 2025 and do not plan to since it’s 920 pages long and a MANDATE for LEADERSHIP for FELON47.
Trump’s Mein Kampf: FELON47’s Manifesto.
Does Project 2025 include these plans to take back the Panama Canal, force Canada to become the 51st state, grab Greenland, rename the Gulf of Mexico and liberate the British from their government?
OR
Will that become Project 2025’s Second Amendment after its First Amendment makes FELON47 the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, which in his “stable genius” mind includes all of Europe, Turkey, Israel and, well, any other countries the MAGA Emperor wants to add to his empire?
I wonder how long it will take FELON47 to claim he wrote Project 2025, just like he didn’t write The Art of the Deal, although he repeatedly claims he did.
I think FELON47 should have a fourth name added to his. If he can change names on a world map, why can’t we change his name?
Instead of Donald [the] JOHN Trump, he should be known and Donald [the] JOHN Untruth Trump, the deceiver.

What does it take for Republicans to recognize that this guy is seriously mentally impaired? Do the puppeteers behind the scenes actually think they can control him? How can Republican legislators listen to this guy and still make excuses for him? If he was a favorite uncle, they would have him in a home today.

speduktr: It occurred to me as I read your note how much Trump abhors the very idea of difference–from what he already thinks about anything. His interior reality is THE Absolute Reality. Mess with that and off you go. And his lies about, for instance, the price of groceries, serve that “reality;” so calling them out means nothing to him, or he just puts out smoke and lies his way around whatever anyone says.
And so, to make Canada a part of the United States is to bring it under the childlike framework of his own distorted mental horizon. It’s different from him and what he wants so it must either change or disappear. And there, at least in his narrative, the use of the military is justified.
Also, they are “visiting” Greenland like the Nazis “visited” the rich. CBK

The United States has over 330 million: why do we elect such awful people to be President? Trump is definitely unfit, a total narcissist, mentally lazy and willfully ignorant. The current President has never been cognitively fit during his entire term in office, and there is overwhelming evidence of his corruption. Why did shady foreign entities pay large sums to his son, at the very least attempted bribery? Why can’t we do better than these two appalling men?

I, too, feel very glad for writers and reporters like Dworkin because I do not want to hear one more word from the soon to be Liar in Chief again, who is planning to put everyone on the planet at risk except his fellow billionaires, oligarchs and dictators. I haven’t intentionally heard anything he’s said in awhile now, too, although a snippet here and there has gotten through by accident and before I could turn off the sound (so long enough to ruin my day).
I’m really grateful for reporting like this, Diane. Thanks ever so much –and please keep it up, so that people like us don’t ever have to listen to him again!

The good news is that you won’t have to worry about ever hearing or seeing him in heaven!
HEAVEN (The Borowitz Report)—In a wide-ranging interview on Thursday, former President Jimmy Carter said that the best part of Heaven “by far” is the knowledge that he will never see Donald J. Trump again.
“Don’t get me wrong, I’m very grateful for the gift of eternal life,” he said. “But an eternity without Trump is the greatest gift of all.”
Carter said that he was “far from alone” in appreciating his Trump-free existence, adding, “Nelson Mandela just said the same thing.”
Asked if he had seen Trump on cable news criticizing his sale of the Panama Canal, Carter responded, “We don’t have cable news up here. I’ve heard it’s on nonstop in the other place.”
