A man named Matthew D. Taylor (@TaylorMatthewD) writes on Twitter about a violent cult called the New Apostolic Reformation. NAR held a rally on Friday on the mall in Washington, DC. It was called the Million women March but it was decidedly anti-feminist. Its members and followers are passionately pro-Trump. The last speech of the day came from a leader who prophesied the election of Trump and described Kamala Harris to Jezebel. The tweets quote the Biblical passage in which Jezebel is thrown out of a window to the ground, where she is trampled by Jehu’s horse, then consumed by hungry dogs.

An illustration shows a pack of dogs consuming the body of a woman of color.
Is this an assassination threat?

Every time the convicted rapist, fraud and felon Traitor Trump lies through insults, attacks or complaints about anyone or anything, they are messages to the lunatic-fringe that belongs to his fascist MAGA cult.
The Traitor wants at least one of them to do what he’s asking through his hate-filled lies: kill who he wants dead and gone, clearing his path to win any way possible. to become a dictator just like Putin.
“If I don’t win, it’s going to be a blood bath,” Trump said. That message was sent to his allies in violent white supremacist militias.

During Traitor Trump’s hate-rally on January 6, 2021, he said “fight” almost 20 times during his almost 11,000-word, lie-filled rambling speech. His loyalist MAGA cult chanted “Fight for Trump!” That mob never chanted “be peaceful” even though the traitor used a word with peace in it once early in his lie filled hate-speech.
Traitor Trump got exactly what he wanted from his loyalists.

It is fitting that these pseudo-Christians would dredge up a punitive passage from the Old Testament and try to demean Kamala Harris, but only demean themselves with a message of violence and hate. Practicing Christians today are more likely to look to the New Testament for guidance and direction where the overarching messages are tolerance, empathy, respect, peace, love and forgiveness.

yes, another threat; threat upon threat; like deporting all the immigrants and we know what that looks like in lorries and trains. Nemirovsky’s book Suite Francaise is one of the portrayals of France under Nazi deportation of “people without papers”… These verbal threats trump makes are overlooked or laughed at. People need to know about Leston Havens (psychoanalyst) and his book “Doing things With Words”… that is what these threats are intentionally setting ablaze from trump and Miller and others of his ilk.. some of the. lawyer must be writing the plans now (the guys like Eastman).

I am sure that this person now has the exceptionally focused attention of the United State Secret Service, the FBI, and whatever state and local law enforcement covers the address they have no doubt already traced the person to. As it should be. While this veiled threat alone is not enough to actually charge the person, again as it should be, they have marked themselves as someone who at least harbors violent tendencies toward a public figure and needs to be watched for in that figure’s vicinity lest they act on their tendencies.

I hope you are right, Stewart. The threat is well obscured by the Biblical mumbo jumbo, but it’s still a death threat.

JESUS FAILED — Christian nationalists see Jesus as a worldly failure.
Jesus preached His Way of living throughout the New Testament, as in The Sermon of the Mount [Matt 5:3-12] where He declared that “Blessed are the meek [meaning, the gentle; the considerate; the humble]” — but Christian nationalists view such teachings of Jesus as not having worked to make the world into the world they want.
At a 2021 Turning Point USA rally, Donald Trump, Jr., declared to a crowd roaring approval that “We’ve turned the other cheek, and I understand, sort of, the biblical reference — I understand the mentality — but it’s gotten us nothing. Okay? It’s gotten us nothing, while we’ve ceded ground in every major institution in our country.”
The “Christian” extremists’ agenda to “move beyond” the teachings of Jesus is known as the “New Apostolic Reformation” (NAR) and it claims that it has biblical authority, based on Eph. 4:11-12, for new teaching that goes beyond the teachings of Jesus.
In short: Jesus is being moved to the sidelines in the new NAR “Christianity”. The Christ is no longer good enough for today’s Christianity.
The Christian nationalist NAR has a “better” way than The Way: Instead of the humility that Jesus taught and lived, the NAR Christian nationalists have decided on pride — as in The Proud Boys.
Jesus told Peter to put away his sword and that “those who take the sword shall die by the sword” (Matt 26:52). But Christian nationalists view Christ’s teaching of putting away the weapons as having failed, so they have turned to arming themselves with more and more guns.
NAR claims that within NAR and other Christian nationalist organizations, there are emerging “New Apostles” who have been appointed by God to bring to the world “New Revelation”, new biblical authority. The words of Jesus are no longer the ultimate or final authority for today’s Christian nationalists.
“The Seven Mountains Mandate”
NAR claims that today’s Christian nationalists have been given a mandate by God through today’s New Apostles. It’s called “The Seven Mountains Mandate”.
This mandate is to “invade” and take over the seven crucial segments of society: Religion, family, government, business, media, education, and entertainment. NAR uses the word “invade” because the mandate they feel they have is a military-type mandate and requires military-type tactics. For those in the Christian NAR movement, the objective is to invade, take over, and rule.
NAR followers feel mandated to invade and replace traditional Christian denominations with new doctrine, an oppressive doctrine that imposes conformity to NAR’s new revelations. Complete obedience to NAR doctrine and to NAR hierarchical authority is required. There is no forgiveness, only punishment.
NAR aims to invade all aspects of family, imposing NAR’s “revelations” that assign rigid and unchanging roles, with the husband as sole authority, the wife as a submissive producer of babies, and the children as dutiful servants to carry out the will of the father.
NAR government is strictly top-down, dictatorial governance, based on authority claimed from the New Apostolic Revelations. Adherence to these “revelations” is to be strictly enforced and failure to follow them is severely punished.
Under NAR, the sole purpose of all businesses is to serve and funnel wealth to the NAR movement — and to NAR leaders, of course.
In the NAR world, all media is nothing but propaganda that bombards people with the NAR teachings and behavioral instructions. Media must be strictly controlled by NAR.
NAR “education” is brainwashing.
Anyone who has read the book “1984” or who has read Project 2025 (available free on Google) knows what it will be like to live in the NAR world.
What today’s Christian nationalists reject is that if God had wanted Jesus to conquer evil with force, He would have sent Jesus to Earth, descending from the heavens on a golden throne amid clouds with flashing bolts of lightning and surrounded and backed up by a heaven-filling army of terrifying and unkillable angels.
Instead, God sent Jesus to Earth to be born in a stinking stable to poor, totally obscure parents of total unimportance in a world dominated by the mighty Roman Empire.
Christ’s Gospel of meekness, repentance, forgiveness, love, and service to others has failed: God got it wrong.
Today’s Christian nationalists think that it is now up to THEM to make the world right — no more meekness, no more putting away the sword, as Jesus commanded.
Instead, Christian nationalists arm themselves with guns and political power to intimidate and to force others to live the “right” way.
Instead of following the teachings and commands of Jesus, they have turned to follow a person of pride and deceit, who craves worldly power over others.
The “Christian” NAR of self-righteous zealots is a greater danger to America than the NRA because the greatest threat to our democratic republic exists today under the false flag of religion. Extremists have been able to infiltrate Christian denominations and churches, and by cleverly using religious themes have been able to make people believe that the peaceful, forgiving, and turn-the-other-cheek teachings of Jesus are no longer sufficient to “save” society.
Beware.

But they do, and they are sincere. Again, it comes down to their deeply entrenched belief that the country and culture have strayed far away from what they believe to be Christian teachings. They are horrified by youth culture, which is absolutely everywhere–gangsta rappers who are glorified for running drugs and prostitution, the whole playa culture online, in which most young women from their early teens on are constantly posting their booty shots and talking “hood,” in which homosexual relations, which they think of as a terrible sin, are celebrated, in which lots and lots of people in their teens and twenties are gender queer or gender fluid. THESE are the things that matter to them, and they see the country as Sodom and Gomorrah, and their churches have told them that is what it is and that the only way back is to vote for Republicans. They don’t actually follow politics much, but they are galvanized, and every Sunday, the word thunders down from the pulpit that they have to save this nation. And most Democrats have no idea how huge and how convinced and how powerful this Christian Jihad movement is. NONE. Oh, yeah, they read an occasional story about some group, but they think of it as a fringe phenomenon. Those people are as wrong as were the ones in Iran who thought that Islamic fundamentalism was a fringe phenomenon back in the days of the Shah, when Iran was an EXTREMELY SECULAR society, by outward appearances.

But how does this hatred get connected to Jesus, who did not preach hatred?
Do they ever wonder–these NAR people–about why Jesus wasn’t married and hung out with 12 other single men?

You have to remember that there were literally hundreds of Christian writings–acts, gospels, collections of sayings of Jesus, and so on–from the first couple centuries CE that WERE LEFT OUT of the official texts prepared by the official church, and there were hundreds of Christian texts with VASTLY different belief systems. In some of these, Jesus is indeed married. Here’s a recently discovered one:

HUNDREDS of surviving non-canonical texts, and thousands more, it is certain, that have not survived. I highly recommend the book by Bart Ehrman called Early Christianities and the book of Hans Jonas called The Gnostic Religion: the Message of the Alien God and the Origins of Christianity. Two very great scholars. BTW, most of what you will encounter about the Gnostics in online sources is absolute hogwash. Jonas is an actual scholar of the many Gnostic Christian churches and can be trusted. BTW, many Gnostic sects believed that there were TWO gods, a bad on, the Rex Mundi, told about in the Old Testament, who created the world, and a good one revealed to Gnostic teachers–bearers of the secret knowledge (gnosis) of the secret rituals that would purify one in order to transcend this moral realm and be saved. If one of these HUNDREDS of alternative Christianities had happened to become ascendant–to get the imprimatur of Constantine–the official beliefs and rituals of the Church would be VASTLY different. It was quite the time of the creation of new religions, not only Christian but many others as well–mystery cults, the cult of Sol Ivictus, etc,

from all the various and sundry protestant churches I have attended, they don’t go into Revelation as a “book” in the Bibles/canon… But in that particular rhetoric, interpretation of one theme is sums up gender “woman and the symbolism of pollution”…. it is what trump was proclaiming as “bleeding from wherever” when he talked about the journalist so he is getting it from conversations with people? or listening to those cult members? it probably didn’t come from his lawyers … I don’t know which particular cults (they probably call themselves “churches”) would be teaching that theme from Revelations but … I hope it is rare. A vivid portrayal “a most vivid example, projected into antediluvian myth, is the seduction of the angels by human women” who bring all kinds of foreign customs, magic, and divination practices into human culture thus polluting…. the church/religion of the majority … so misogyny is being taught somewhere for this display in Washington D.C. to be so virulent. It is bizarre and it is really bothersome if modern or current churches are teaching this. ….

That myth of the Nephilim is powerful. And much expounded elsewhere.
From Genesis 6:
1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. 3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
Much more of this in the fascinating Book of Enoch, which should be on everyone’s reading list. Also, there are precedents in Sumerian myth.

thanks, Bob; I always appreciate everything you write and forward and I take it to heart. The canon of the Bible my family and neighbors ahared growing up has anti-semitism as well as misogyny. I am reading Amy Jill Levine’s edited book on the Hebrew traditions and influence in the new and old testaments; I will probably get to more understanding of those you mention I guess “apocryphal ” that I never learned about growing up… as some of them are mentioned in Levine’s edited book. David Frankfurter concentrated on the “pollution of women” ; I know when they are trying to recruit children to the churches today they use some of those old “tropes” that i won’t go into her. The misogyny of course interested me from age 12 ; I would set the clocks back so my mom couldn’t force me to go to church; then I learned to take a book, sit in the back row, and block out the interpretations I was hearing from the pulpit. it was tiresome having some male figure tell me about Mary and Martha in his viewpoint that was the “catechism” of the church. Much wider reading helps me to get through that dogma. I recognized some things in politics such as my mom voting for FDR and the neighbor whose husband owned the only funeral home in town and she would come in to our house and say “Don’t vote for the cripple”… Some things we retain from youth in our memories.

we try to make these concepts available to students; example: the “king’s forest law”. (king owns everything as in former medeival U.K.). — but the Magna Carta said the king was arbitrary not just)….. it’s also useful to “be careful of innovations from the pope” ; if we rely on Lord of the Manor and Kings and popes and tsars then we give up the people’s concerns and issues to make things more equitable. Acemoglu, D.; Robinson, J.A. Persistence of power, elites, and institutions. Am. Econ. Rev. 2008, 98, 267–293. These concepts are described in their book (robinson and acemoglu) and they write about “The Red Queen”. but it is difficult to explain to students (and adults) — how social forces and constant changing circumstances affect governance. The concept of “leviathan” (chaos monsters) … but often we don’t have enough of the curriculum to explain in civics in high school and people graduate without appreciating the definitions and circumstances of “democracy” and governance in a free society. I worry that these concepts are not available in the current civics curriculum that we have fostered through the legislature in MA — missing a good bit of the understandings and key essentials that are developed by Acemoglu and for which i believe the Nobel prize was most important (not easily available to high school students but our curriculum CAN be improved in that regard. )

NAR “apostles” and “prophets” believe that God has spoken directly to them about transforming society through violence(Republican Speaker Mike Johnson is a NAR insider). Taylor posts that Jan 6 and the millionwomen march is just the beginning. I fear this movement is not on the the radar of those who would defend us.

Violence is a theme in “bibles” and David Frankfurter interprets the “Chaos monsters.” Today’s cults are taking the violence literally and preaching it…
This is what David Frankfurter wrote in the book (editor Amy-Jill Levine). “Many apocalyptic authors depict the eschatological theater as a subtle and shifting balance between divine violence and a demonic—or at least initially extra-divine—violence, at the end of which is perfect peace and order.” and they are literally carrying out the theater such as in the washington DC rally — so many vulnerable people fall into this and “drink the kool-aid”… (Satan and chaos monsters — apocalypse and of course “blame the Jews and the women to justify your militia and guns defending your “Cult”/church)
