It’s sad but not unexpected that Republican politicians who once denounced Donald Trump are now bowing down to him. They are singing his praises, kissing his ring, his toes, his backside.
Nikki Haley said he was “unhinged” and that he was “not fit” to be President. That was only a few months ago. We all heard her. But now she has endorsed the unhinged one.
Ted Cruz insulted Trump repeatedly in 2016. He suggested that Trump had ties to the Mafia; he called him “a sniveling coward,” and “a pathological liar,” who lies with every word that comes out of his mouth. He also called him “a serial philanderer” who is “utterly amoral.”Trump, in turn, mocked Cruz’s wife and suggested that Cruz’s father had some role in the assassinatiin of President Kennedy. Now they are best buddies.
Marco Rubio takes the cake, if a lapdog deserves a cake. Here is a video of Rubio denouncing Trump as a “con man” who has failed again and again. Now Rubio is hoping to be chosen as the Vice-presidential candidate by the Master Con Man.
At long last, these ambitious politicians have no integrity and no shame. They long to serve an unhinged con man and pathological liar who has been ranked by historians as the worst president in American history.

Lucky for the GOP most of their voters are in a cult and have short memories. Politicians are opportunistic chameleons, and so many in the GOP are blatant liars. They are willing to ride on the coattails of a serial liar and convicted felon. They will kiss the ring to maintain power and forward their foul agenda. Even Susan Collins has capitulated. Looking at those seeking to be Trump’s VP, I think Rubio is a saner choice than most of the other deplorable extremists in the field. At least he understands the importance of defending Ukraine.

To be chosen by Trump as his VP, candidates will have to agree that the 2020 election was stolen and that they will do whatever he tells them to do to win in 2024 and that they would never do what Mike Pence did (adhering to the Constirution instead of Trump’s commands.).

Pence’s wife evidently was really opposed to Pence becoming Trump’s No. 2, but Pence turned kowtowing into a hitherto unparalleled (in this country) artform. One has to go to Russia under Stalin to find similar cases. Here, Pence:

When Rubio is one’s “saner choice,” well, “Houston, there’s a problem.”

That’s the point. We have a gigantic problem.

if you ask a trumpist this question, you are likely to hear: “that’s just politics”.
If you ask about his moral indiscretions or his indictments (now convictions i some cases) you are likely to hear: these accusations are politically motivated.

So, Roy, do the Trumpers you know think “that’s just politics” when they hear that Trump had sex with a porn star while Melania was recuperating from childbirth? Is that OK? No sense of shame.

remember, these are the people who justified impeachment of Clinton on the basis of lying about an extramarital affair. It’s just politics. It’s really just horse manure

The one I love, Roy, is “Well, God sometimes works through imperfect vessels.” ROFL. Quite the choice there, God, old boy!

Bob: this imperfect person idea I have heard from more than one trumpist. While true to biblical stories (Jacob was a rascal, David and Uriah the Hittite and his bathing wife, etc), it is remarkable that the imperfect vessels they choose to excuse are the very ones trampling on their right to do anything that might help people.

“There is also something alarmingly familiar about the way in which the Republican party thought it could co-opt and control Trump, only to find itself capitulating and being recast in his image. One by one the party stalwarts have fallen into line, abandoning long-held principles, while dissenters have been purged.”

Marco is looking for a job that’s even less work than the Senate, where he’s a frequent no-show in non-election years.

So what, Kamala Harris is VP for the man she called a racist.

False claim, never happened.
According to Newsweek: Despite the claim by Trump’s campaign and others, Harris did not call Biden a racist during the June 27, 2019, Democratic debate.

Snopes rates that claim as false, not true, didn’t happen. Bob Carlson, stop spreading lies and Trump propaganda.

Now you see how Trump voters rationalize his actions; his infidelity; his incitement of an insurrection; his pledge to pardon all the insurrectionists; his phony business deals; his defamation of E. Jean Carroll; his long history of lying and fraud.

She didn’t. But even if she did, two wrongs don’t make a right; it’s known as the To Quoque fallacy.
But nice try, eh? If you’re going to argue, you should, you know, learn to argue.

Here’s what Harris actually said in that debate:
“I’m going to now direct this to Vice President Biden. I do not believe you are a racist and I agree with you when you commit yourself to the importance of finding common ground.
“But, I also believe—and it’s personal. And I—I was actually very—it was hurtful to hear you talk about the reputations of two United States senators who built their reputations and career on segregation of race in this country. And it was not only that, but you also worked with them to oppose busing.”
So, she explicitly said that she didn’t believe that he was a racist. But then she said that he worked with racists to oppose busing. [She did not add that that was a racist thing to do, but it was.]

“…kissing his ring, his toes, his backside.”
“Backside”—great way with words, Diane! Precise and accurate without adopting trump’s bad taste.
I have long wondered why the Democrats, press, and other opponents have not used these quotes from his fellow republicans REGULARLY. There are many more, too. Nothing is as succinct and effective in reminding Americans of trump’s true character.
These words of other republicans should be issued as posters, pamphlets, bumper stickers, and playing cards.
The first question from any future interviewers of these republicans should be about their first (and last!) honest assessments of trump.

Agreed. Democrats need to remind the public at every opportunity how vile and disgraceful Trump is. They need to take a page from the GOP playbook where they repeat their lies which get accepted as credible. Democrats do not need to lie, simply to repeat the truth as often as possible.

The Republicans who called Trump what he is, who suddenly reverse to praise and support Trump, are gambling he’ll pick them as his VP. If elected, they will be one heartbeat away from the presidency. And Traitor Trump’s ticker can’t be that healthy. If the traitor stays alive into his 90s as his father did, his VP still might inherit the traitor’s MAGA cult. Trump is not going to live forever. He’s going to die sometimes in the next twenty years or end up in prison first where he’ll die.

Ofc, if Donald becomes president again, it is quite possible that he might be removed from office due to mental incapacity. The man is insane. I am not being hyperbolic. He is literally insane. So, it’s quite possible that whoever the VP is might become president when the cabinet recognizes that it and the country and the world have had enough of the dangerous, crazy, traitorous orange buffoon.

These politicians’ interior lives must look like a three-dimensional Jackson Pollock painting . . . stuffed into paper bag with three weeks worth of used cat litter and Trump diapers . . . burning in a dumpster fire . . . just run over and splattered from Florida to Texas by that bus that Trump has thrown everyone under for, say, one year.
Someone, please make it stop. CBK
