The message from MJT: If she and Steve had been in charge, there would have been mass casualties in the Capitol, the electoral vote would have been canceled, and Trump would be awarded the Presidency by force of arms.

I can assure you that the Capitol Police who were honored by Congress for protecting their lives on January 6, 2021, would never have shaken MJT’s hand, just as they refused to shake the hands of Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell. They protected the Republicans, but the Republicans disrespected the police.
Her comment seemed neither joking nor sarcastic. She is indeed a traitor who should be barred from Congress for violating her oath by supporting/inciting insurrection against the United States. It is similar to when the Putin puppet says something harmful to democracy and then half-heartedly claims to have misspoken after the damage has already been done.
I really wish I could come up with the right words to express how I feel about MTG and individuals just like her — Trump, Cruz, DeSancez, McConnel, Musk, etc., etc., etc. I just cannot get my head around people like her. These are the type of people that can only be recognized if they are destroying something. Their only worth is a person is in the negative.
In my younger days we used to call them trailer trash and calling MTG trailer trash is probably best description I have for the woman.

The January 6th convictions, Yossarian, are only for the little people who heeded Trump’s call. The 147 US Representatives and Senators who voted not to certify the election AFTER the attack on the Capitol? The ones who participated in the attempt to steal the election via such means as the fake electors scheme? Those traitors get a pass.

I have been lucky enough to know the occasional political leader. Seems the best ones are the quiet ones.
Her treason is less of an issue to me that the constituencies that are far more treasonous. More than 45% of the American people currently fit this category.
I went to the Facebook page of the Texas Republican Party shortly after its leader called for seceding from the Union (which he later denied that he did, in true Trumpian fashion). Hundreds of calls to secede, to declare war against the US. Treason. The irony is that these morons think of themselves as patriots. It’s freaking insane.
Luckily Texas only “THINKS” they can suceeed.

This is so appalling on so many levels. This far right wing troll is in Congress and can cause massive damage to the whole legislative process. She’s just in the House to sock it to the libs, not to do anything useful, positive, or beneficial to the great mass of working class Americans. Once the GOP takes control of the House, we’ll be hearing even more stupidity from MTG.
The most disturbing thing is that MTG doesn’t think she’s a traitor. She actually believes (or appears to) that by supporting the attempted insurrection she’s doing her patriotic duty of maintaining US principles against a corrupt leadership that’s gone off the rails.
As they were breaching the Capitol, the insurrectionists she publicly identifies with actually believed they were in the process of deposing an illegitimate US government. They posted pictures showing their faces clearly because they presumed that by the time they exited the building they’d be lauded as heroes, perhaps the “New Founding Fathers” or something like that, & any laws under which they might have been prosecuted would no longer be in effect.
Individuals who in the past have been prosecuted as traitors — Benedict Arnold, John Walker, Aldrich Ames — at least knew they were traitors & tried to hide it. Each made a conscious choice to help an enemy against the US. The Jan 6 crowd, et al., aren’t cooperating with an enemy; they’re proudly claiming to be the enemy, rationalizing it with provably false claims that position them as defenders, rather than attackers, of US’s founding values.
This conflict isn’t with a hidden enemy who’ve infiltrated US society; it’s with other members of this society who proclaim themselves loudly, claim their views are justified, & view their opponents the same way. It’s impossible to have constructive dialogue with people who literally live in a separate reality. The fact that there aren’t clearly delineated geographical boundaries complicates it further.
This looks to me like an effort to shield herself from legal responsibility for what happened on January 6.
Just look at the way she phrased it, “Had she been in charge…”
You can’t be prosecuted for stating an opinion, but you can be prosecuted for what you did.
It’s z diversionary tactic meant to absolve herself of responsibility after the fact.

There were about 150 Capital Police on duty and other security that were armed to protect the capital. If Greene and the other theofascist thugs and traitors had fired on those police, the police that didn’t die in the first volley would have returned fire. For decades now, the US military has standing orders not to fire until fired upon. That doesn’t mean our troops always obey that order. When I was in the US Marines serving in Vietnam, that was the orders we were given but those orders were even more details. Not only were we told we couldn’t fire if we were fire upon, but we couldn’t fire until we saw who was shooting at us. That last phrase that we had to see who was shooting at us was seldom obeyed in combat when the shooting started.
And in combat there is never a guarantee who will win a battle. History shows us repeatedly that the smaller force often wins against a larger force.
Even though the war in Ukraine isn’t over yet, the losses Russia has piled up shows how a smaller force often wins against a bigger army.
Sun Tzu, who wrote The Art of War thousands of years ago, a book that is Still studied at West Point and by corporate CEOs today, made it clear that size means nothing.
For sure, the Capital Police, Secret Service, and FBI have had a lot more target practice than a handful of glorified lunatics (Greene’s one of them) that belong to a private sector militia and run around brandishing their AR-15s as a fake-demonstration of how tough they are. In the military all of the troops must qualify once a year to demonstrate they can still hit a target more than they miss it. If they fail, they might be given one or more chances to pass on the firing range but eventually if they keep failing, they will be discharged.
Anyone like Greene that brags if she had been armed on January 6th, that her traitorous side would have won, is a total, ignorant, and dangerous fool.
Hundreds would have been wounded or died if she’d gotten what she wants and the casualties would have been on both sides. Since the mob was packed much tighter together than the police who probably wore vests and many carried transparent shields that may also have offered protection may have had the advantage in that situation.
And, once the bullets started flying, with people in the mob getting hit, many that weren’t hit seeing the idiot next to them get his head blown off or getting gut shot, would have panicked and turned tail to run as fast as they could. Then the panicked mob would have tramped dozens of their own. I think it is a safe bet that most of the mob had never served in the military or the police. No matter what kind of training they might have had at some private militia camp playing cowboys and Indians with paint or laser guns, they were not ready for the real thing.
War is hell and Greene has no idea what that hell is like, or she’d keep her traitorous mouth shut.
