SomeDAMPoet wrote the following to explain Trump. As I was typing the headline, I accidentally wrote “Iz” instead of “Oz,” and it then occurred to me that Trump is the Wizard of Id. No filters on his ego or his mouth.
SomeDAM Poet:
Brain is severed
From his tongue
We can learn a lot about Trump from the Wizard of Oz. He’s the accumulation of these characters:
The scarecrow had no brains, tin man had no heart, lion was a coward, and the wizard was a liar.

One of my favorite comics used to be called Wizard of Id

Enough, enough of the wizard of id!
Re-elect him? God forbid!
Forbid. Forbid. Forbid. Forbid. Forbid!
He’s slimier than a dead, rotting squid.

“Oh Donnie Boy,” or “Orange Is the New Slack”
(to the tune of the oh-so-appropriate “If I Only Had a Brain”)
I just while away the hours
A-tweetin’ in my bower,
Consulting with TV.
I don’t care for cogitating,
I just sit here agitating
While I’m watching Hannity.
Think I’ll order some hamburders
And tweet out some diverters
From the latest breaking news
’bout the crimes I’ve perpetrated
And the folks I’ve terminated
For developing a clue.
Oh, I-I-I can’t tell you why
Burning fossil fuels warms the Earth,
I care only for increasing my net worth.
A man is measured . . . by his girth.
I would not be just a nothin’,
My head all full of stuffin’
And neediness and pain.
I wouldn’t be insane, erratic;
I might be quite democratic
If I only had a brain.

Trump embodies some of humanity’s worst attributes. Unlike the characters in ‘Oz,’ he has no redeeming qualities. Vote him out!

Great post, Diane! So, so true!

May he be trounced proper!!! But unfortunately he won’t be gone if he loses. We will now have to deal with all his aroused, empowered, rageful followers. And that will be a greater challenge than getting rid of him in the first place. We will have to figure out a way to win them back to their original selves. But neurologically their brains have been changed, their hearts changed, their thinking changed. They are more of a threat than ever.

Agreed, Trump has an often uncouth and unrefined personality and demeanor. He isn’t my choice for a mate. However, I do support many of his administration’s policies. Substance over style. I’m an old-school HST/JFK style Democrat, a “classic” Liberal, not a Radical or Leftist. Now I’m a registered Independent.
This is no longer the Democrat party of your parents and grandparents. Leftism/Progressiivism is not Liberalism. Watch the 1960 Kennedy/Nixon debate. They had very few substantive policy disagreements. Both leaned fiscally conservative, favored tax cuts, were integrationists, were fiercely anti-Communist. Kennedy won the debate on TV, Nixon on radio. They both loved America, its foundations and wanted to improve it from within, not tear down foundational institutions.
The people boarding up their stores fear BLM, ANTIFA and others of the radical Left, not the now feckless and miniscule radical Right. The Leftist governors and mayors have not only enabled, but have been tacitly supporting the destruction in Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, New York City, Kenosha, Los Angeles, Oakland, ad nauseum.
They’re boarding up, because they fear what will happen if Trump wins again. If Biden wins, you won’t see conservatives or even “white supremacists” rioting, burning police cars, looting, committing arson, tearing down statues, smashing windows, blocking off traffic, on the mass scale of the last 6 months.
Who is more likely to get their car keyed/vandalized–one with a Biden or Trump bumper sticker? Which people are afraid to publicly admit their support, for fear of blacklisting or worse–a Biden or Trump supporter?
It’s not Left vs. Conservative, it’s Left vs. Liberal and Conservative.
The Land of Oz, indeed.

I disagree with you.
I was active in the Nixon-Kennedy era. Both were centrists, like Joe Biden. Nixon would not recognize the racist, sexist rabble now gathered around Trump, nor would he approve of Trump’s uncouth, crude behavior. Nixon was far more intelligent than Trump.
Kennedy, a man of both style and substance, would never invite Trump to dine at his table.
Neither would have approved of his 1930s era “America First” isolationism. Nixon and Kennedy were both internationalist in outlook.
Nixon created the Environmental Protection Agency and Trump is killing it. Nixon also started affirmative action, which Trump has denounced.
Neither Nixon nor Kennedy have anything in comic with the crooked buffoon in the White House.

Stable genius Trump tweets, upset about what will happen “after the Poles have closed.”

In what sense Polish people are open or closed and what this has to do with the US election are mysteries that only Miss Communications Kaleigh McEnany can officially equivocate about.
Or perhaps our third-grade-geography-challenged President Orange is confused about whether the South Pole and the North Pole have a say in this election. Maybe Trump has been on a “perfect phone call” to Santa to encourage him to get elves, those Pole-ish peoples, out to vote.
One thing is certain. The electoral map tonight is showing that almost half of American voters were incapable of learning anything from the past 3 and 3/4 years. Silly me, I actually thought that Americans were smarter than this.
And the popular vote? Well, that’s proof, isn’t it, that racism runs very, very deep in this country.

At least once a day, I’m reminded of the scene when the Wizard, in the hot air balloon, about to take Dorothy home to Kansas, unexpectedly is launched into the air.
Dorothy shouts, “Wait for me!”
Wizard: Ï can’t! I don’t know how it works!”
