Washington Post reporter Mary Jordan just published a new book about Melania and how she outsmarted The Donald.
When Melania Trump stayed behind in New York after her husband’s presidential inauguration, she said it was because she didn’t want to interrupt their then-10-year-old son Barron’s school year. News stories at the time concentrated on an apparent frostiness between the first couple and on the exorbitant taxpayer costs to protect Melania and Barron away from Washington.
Those stories are true, but Washington Post reporter Mary Jordan reveals in a new book that the first lady was also using her delayed arrival to the White House as leverage for renegotiating her prenuptial agreement with President Trump.
The campaign had been full of harsh news about Trump’s alleged sexual indiscretions and infidelities, from the “grab them by the p—y” Access Hollywood tape to an affair with Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal; Melania learned new details from the media coverage, Jordan writes.
The incoming first lady needed time to cool off, and “to amend her financial arrangement with Trump — what Melania referred to as ‘taking care of Barron,’ ” Jordan writes in “The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump.”
Melania’s original prenup had not been incredibly generous, Jordan reports. But she has been married to Trump longer than both his ex-wives and had bargaining power: Her perceived calming effect on him was so great that Trump’s pals and at least one of Trump’s adult children exhorted her to come to the White House as soon as possible.
She suggests that people drop the #FreeMelania hashtag because she is no different from him.

Does Melania know Donald’s long history of breaking signed contracts and the thousands of court battles where his goal is always to wear down and break his victim sometimes driving them into bankruptcy so that the Donald wins?
Even in the few court cases where he lost, he has a habit of ignoring the verdict and forcing the issue back to court again or paying a fine.
In many cases like this, after he wears his victim down until they fear they will die before they get anything, Trump offers to settle for pennies on the dollar.
“So, you want a new prenuptial,” Donald says. “I don’t care what it says. Where do I sign.” Once his back is turned, an evil smirk splits his tiny, little, evil mouth and his forked tongue like those bloodless, thin lips.

This is a little off the topic, but some readers here might have missed that Stephen Miller almost lost his job in the Trump maladministration for lying on his resume about how high up the hierarchy he had been in the office of his previous employer, Satan. Miller’s job was saved when Trump himself intervened. “I have no problem with lying,” Trump is reported to have said.

Trump lies because he probably thinks everyone lies and cheats to win so he decided long ago he would lie more and cheat more than everyone else. Trump doesn’t know what honesty means. His father raised him that way. Be ruthless and win no matter what it takes.

Melania hadn’t realized the overwhelming cost and inconvenience caused by the security measures needed for Barron and her in a large urban area — it was costing millions of dollars a month. The Secret Service sought more funding. The New York Police Department said a conservative estimate for its costs alone was $125,000 a day.
I’d love to see an accurate count of just how much money taxpayers waste on this rotten bunch. We pay for Trump to go golfing and for his children to take business trips.
They have no sense of responsibility towards taxpayers. Melania is a gold digger. I do not approve of first ladies who date married men and who pose nude. [Remember what a stir it caused for the GOP when Michelle exposed BOTH of her shoulders? I shutter at the thought! Imagine doing that? It’s almost as bad as Obama wearing a tan suit.]

Did Catholic bishops become evangelicals when they signed the Manhattan Declaration? Did Bishop Dolan become evangelical when he praised Trump’s leadership? Did Paul Weyrich become evangelical when he founded the religious right and the Koch’s ALEC? Did Leonard Leo become evangelical when he stacked the courts with conservatives? Did William Barr, arguably, Trump’s most loyal and powerful supporter, become evangelical when he said religion should be introduced at every opportunity? And, did the Knights of Columbus become evangelicals when they opened a shrine for Trump’s photo op?
What does it say about the principles of an institution’s defenders when they ignore the actions of the church’s state conferences for the reason that the conferences are ineffective legislatively in the states
where they live?
History sidelined the acquiescence of the Catholic Church in fascist Germany citing as defense, it had no option. Historians of 2020 America will give full measure to the Church’s willing role, with mere footnotes about the individual faithful acting without hierarchical support and about ignored letters of protest.

And all of this gossip is worth publishing why? And men accuse women of being horrible gossips! I know I am way over the top, but I really see little advantage to trashing Melania. Women have sold themselves to the highest bidder for generations, and men have bought them. Her parents got citizenship, and they all got a life that has advantages they never would have had otherwise. I do not find it hard to believe that Melania loves her son fiercely and will do almost anything to protect him.

I read that during Trump’s photo op with the Bible in front of that church and tear gas (or was it pepper-spray bombs?) all around them while Trump’s stormtroopers (if they were following orders, then they are guilty, too. There is no excuse for what those troopers did.) shot rubber bullets into a peaceful crowd of protestors, Ivanka was the only one in his entourage wearing a mask.

Which is why I said I knew my comment was a little over the top. Other than the fact that in Trump’s world everything is based on what’s in it for me (and mine in Melania’s case), the expedited citizenship for her parents is the only thing I cited that rings obvious fraud alarm bells. Of course, Melania couldn’t do anything right even if she tried. She can’t even be eye candy without criticism.
I don’t intend criticism of anyone here for participating in what has become a national pastime. I had just finished watching the video about the “Righteous Man” in the German POW camp, and somehow this post was hard to take.

As I stated before, I don’t like first ladies who pose nude and run around with married men. She has no more morals that the Orange Virus. It was in extremely poor taste to wear a jacket saying, “I don’t care. Do you?” when she visited an immigrant children’s shelter.

Agree on video, just watched. Disagree that Melanoma deserves any compassion. She likely entered this country on false pretenses–remember that press conference we were promised to explain her immigration status that never materialized? She is this age’s Agrippina, power and money hungry and willing to sell what little soul she may have to get it. She made her bed, etc., etc. I’ll save my sympathy for someone who really needs it.

First lady announces youth art project on women’s suffrage

WASHINGTON (AP) — Melania Trump wants to use art to help children learn about women’s suffrage.
The first lady on Monday announced a youth art project to coincide with the ratification nearly 100 years ago of the constitutional amendment that granted women the right to vote.
The project, “Building the Movement: America’s Youth Celebrate 100 Years of Women’s Suffrage,” will showcase artwork by students in grades three to 12 from all U.S. states and territories.
Melania Trump said children should be included in conversations about the upcoming centennial so they can learn the history behind the women’s suffrage movement, including peaceful protests like those they see taking place in response to the killing of George Floyd by police in Minneapolis.
“For decades, women leaders lobbied, marched, and protested for equality and their right to vote in the United States,” the first lady said in a statement to The Associated Press. “It is my hope that this project will both support and expand the important conversations taking place on equality and the impact of peaceful protests, while encouraging children to engage in the history behind this consequential movement in their own home states.”
Children are being asked to submit drawings by July 6 depicting individuals, objects and events representing the suffrage movement. One piece of art from each state and territory will be included in a White House exhibit scheduled to open in August. How the art will be presented — either a physical exhibit or online — will be determined based on federal guidelines for COVID-19….
