But really, when do we get rid of government programs:
Currently only about 3 percent of the funding for the running of national association resource center of Meals on Wheels comes from federal funds, while 35 percent of the funds on a state level come from the Older Americans Act. 84% comes from individual contributions and grants from corporations and foundations, but the national association provides support and representation for a larger network of 5,000 independently operated local groups, Bertolette said.
The services will continue and foundations will cover any necessities and funding….

Speaking of the Big Yellow friend to many kids and grownups The funding to NPR is a another great move in budget cuts:
according to Wikipedia: In 2010, NPR revenues totaled $180 million, with the bulk of revenues coming from programming fees, grants from foundations or business entities, contributions and sponsorships.[20] According to the 2009 financial statement, about 50% of NPR revenues come from the fees it charges member stations for programming and distribution charges.[20] Typically, NPR member stations receive funds through on-air pledge drives, corporate underwriting, state and local governments, educational institutions, and the federally funded Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). In 2009, member stations derived 6% of their revenue from federal, state and local government funding, 10% of their revenue from CPB grants, and 14% of their revenue from universities. While NPR does not receive any direct federal funding, it does receive a small number of competitive grants from CPB and federal agencies like the Department of Education and the Department of Commerce. This funding amounts to approximately 2% of NPR’s overall revenues.

Sesame Workshop, which produces “Sesame Street,” inked a five-year HBO deal in August 2015, making episodes available first on premium cable and free on PBS nine months later, the New York Times reported at the time. It began airing on HBO Jan. 16, 2016.
“PBS makes ‘Sesame Street’ available to all Americans, and thereby continues to play a major role in helping less privileged kids gain access to preschool education that has proven and enduring value,” Sesame Workshop said in a statement Thursday afternoon.
“While Sesame Workshop currently receives no direct funding from CPB or PBS, we stand firmly and passionately in support of the vital public investment that allows them to continue this important work.”
So, if PBS is cut, the only the distribution of Sesame Street seems to be premium cable. HBO. Sesame Street productions have long since been supported by payments for the right to reproduce images of the characters on a host of products, in addition to replicas and look-alike products.

Planned parenthood will also not vanish.
Government funding only makes up about 40-percent of Planned Parenthood’s total $1.3 billion in annual revenue.
And abortions, the issue driving the defund Planned Parenthood movement on the far right only makes up about 3 percent of its services.

We won’t see NPR and PBS vanish. We will see it shrink along with Meals on Wheels and Planned Parenthood.
Once we get rid of the malignant narcissist in the White House and put another progressive president in the White House with a Democratic majority in one or both Houses of Congress, then the federal government can start contributing to these non-profit organizations again.
It isn’t the end of the world, yet, at least until Trump decides to start World War Three, and launched a thousand ballistic missiles to wipe out every country that refuses to do business with his family or buy Ivanka’s clothing line.

I don’t see how Planned Parenthood can exist even in shrunken state minus 40% of its funding.

That 60-percent that they will have is about $780 million. Planned Parenthood will have to make some hard decisions to close clinics and cut hours until what they have will support what remains.
What’s worse?
Giving up and closing its doors or shrinking and cutting services. In fact, Planned Parenthood might want to move out of GOP-dominated states and focus on the few states where the Democratic Party still has a foothold.
$780 million is better than nothing.

New York Times Misuses Data to Criticize Defunding of Planned Parenthood
Chuck Donovan / March 17, 2017 / comments
The data cited in a York Times article fail to prove that American women will have less access to care under the Republican plan to redirect funds from Planned Parenthood to community health centers.
COMMENTARY BY
Chuck Donovan
Charles A. “Chuck” Donovan is president of the Charlotte Lozier Institute. He was legislative director of the National Right to Life Committee more than three decades ago, worked as a writer for President Reagan, helped lead the Family Research Council for nearly two decades, and most recently was a senior research fellow in religion and civil society at The Heritage Foundation.
Earlier this week, The New York Times ran a piece responding to Congress’ current plan to reallocate Planned Parenthood funding.
The piece is little more than a recycling of old, problematic studies conducted by a partisan research group, combined with both anecdotal and selective evidence drawn from interviews and media reports.
The article also completely ignores the benefits women will receive from the infusion of new funds into community health providers. Such health providers can address a wide range of women’s health needs without subjecting women to Planned Parenthood’s abortion agenda.
First, the Times discusses a “study” produced last year by the Texas Policy Evaluation Project—nicknamed TxPep—which found that reallocating funds away from Planned Parenthood led to an increase in Medicaid births and costs in the Lone Star State.
Instead, the analysis only addressed the number of births within a subset of women receiving injectable contraceptives from Planned Parenthood. Nor did the study address changes in the rate of unintended pregnancies or abortions that might have occurred because Planned Parenthood was no longer the beneficiary of state funding.
TxPep is not exactly a neutral voice on this matter. The group’s sole funder is the mammoth Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, an entity that ranks among the top givers to public health research in the United States.
The foundation, which receives hundreds of millions of dollars from renowned entrepreneur Warren Buffett, puts a major focus on providing abortion and supporting population control worldwide.
TxPep has engaged in a variety of other dubious studies, including a thoroughly debunked one that purported to show a wave of self-induced abortions after passage of the Texas law at issue in the Supreme Court case Whole Women’s Health v. Hellerstedt.
The TxPep report was based on an online survey of 800 women ages 18-49 who were asked whether they, or their best friend, had ever attempted to self-abort (without the aid of a doctor).
In a major weakness, the survey did not ask whether any of these events had occurred after the Texas clinic standards law, H.B. 2, was adopted. The study afforded, as New wrote, no “credible evidence” for the assertions made on the study’s behalf by several media sources.
A completely different set of forces and concerns is at play in the Congressional Budget Office scoring of the Republican plan to end Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood in the current budget reconciliation bill.
The CBO made, by its own admission, a “highly uncertain” calculation that 15 percent of a subgroup of women attending Planned Parenthood clinics would experience coverage disruptions after defunding.
Because of this disruption, which prior CBO calculations estimated would take several years to fully resolve, “several thousand” more babies would be born to women on Medicaid, leading to $21 million in added Medicaid spending in the first year.
The CBO operates within an array of strictures in analyses like these. Most important of all, it operates within the confines of the measure it has been asked to score, and it is focused only on fiscal issues relevant to scoring each provision of that measure.
While the potential for additional Medicaid costs of several thousand births can be estimated, the savings that might accrue to Medicaid as a result of an additional $422 million allocated by the bill to community health centers is beyond the CBO’s scope.
Scholarly estimates of the savings community health centers generate in other demands on the health care system, because of fewer emergency room visits, fewer and shorter hospital stays, and averted illnesses, average at least $1,000 per client per year.
If the CBO’s assumption that there would be increased births is accurate, savings of this kind could offset the projected cost to Medicaid from additional births.
The CBO may not take this big picture into account, but Congress can and should. The bottom line is, does a policy of funding community center-based, integrated women’s health care—inclusive of family planning—better support women and the long-term federal budget than pouring new funds into Planned Parenthood’s increasingly abortion-driven centers?
Here, data from the last half-decade or more is especially significant.
Government funding of Planned Parenthood, predominantly federal but including some state funds, increased by $66.3 million between 2009 and 2015, according to a review of its annual reports.
In that same period, Planned Parenthood’s overall reversible contraception client population declined significantly, while its annual abortion totalbasically held constant at 324,000 (against a backdrop of sharply declining abortions nationwide). This declining female client base for Planned Parenthood preceded the current funding debates, and it is real—not a CBO estimate.
At least one authority (a Planned Parenthood official) believes that more women now have options under the Affordable Care Act to take their coverage and use it elsewhere, i.e., places that offer more services than Planned Parenthood.
All the more reason to ensure that women retain and have even more of those options—including the choice of visiting community health centers, “doc-in-a-box” clinics, drugstore clinics, pregnancy help centers, and more.
One final point. The New York Times report dwells at some length on how women in areas without a designated federally qualified health center, but with a Planned Parenthood clinic nearby, will suffer.
That issue deserves separate attention from Congress if in fact primary care is hard to access for these women—if for no other reason than that if such access is now lacking, Planned Parenthood does not fill the need.
Outside the reconciliation process, Congress can and should look at the location of new community health centers, potentially augmenting existing transportation funds for the centers, and expansion of mobile clinics that bring providers closer to where those in need live.
The last thing Congress should do is restore funding to Planned Parenthood, a company that performs hundreds of thousands of abortions each year, up to 24 weeks’ gestation, without notice to parents, and harvests baby body partsfor what can only be called prenatal human trafficking.

Do you think Comey and Rogers are lying?
LikeLike
Diane,
Determining if they lied is not in my quiver of abilities to judge, but I do wish there were follow up question on some of the issues he should respond to: Let me just give you an example. You probably think, based on what’s been reported, whether you saw it or not, you probably think that there was some collusion between Trump and the Russians, that everybody thinks there was, they just haven’t found any evidence yet. So the investigation is ongoing.
The Democrat questions, which were not really questions, Over half of the questions the Democrats asked Comey were just Democrat talking points designed to keep that lunatic base of theirs at bay.
Feeding the paranoid, insane Democrat base, because the expectations that there’s going to be an impeachment of Donald Trump have been raised so high that the Democrat base will accept nothing less – is Comey under pressure as well?
For example, we learned yesterday that the Obama FBI began to investigate the Trump campaign back in July for colluding with the Russians to rig the election. That was the Obama FBI. That was the Obama Department of Justice under Loretta Lynch, who was the attorney general. That means it was Obama who clearly would have been in the loop on it.
Seven months later, admitted to by Comey, there is still no evidence of any collusion whatsoever. None. And was affirmatively stated by Comey and the director of the National Security Agency that there is zip, zero, nada evidence that the Russians tampered with anything to do with votes on Election Day or in the early voting, at any time, none. There won’t be any evidence because that would be impossible to pull off.
We know for an absolute fact that there was real, provable collusion between the Democrat National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign to rig their primary. We know without doubt, because of Debbie Schultz and her computer at the Democrat National Committee, that the Democrat National Committee and Hillary Clinton sabotaged the primary and the Democrat Party to ensure that Bernie Sanders would lose.
There has been no investigation by the FBI of this collusion. There doesn’t seem to be even any interest in the collusion between the Clinton campaign and the Democrat National Committee, which involves computer hacks.
According to them, the DNC computer was hacked. We also know that the FBI repeatedly asked to inspect the DNC network, and they were refused permission to do so – Why?
.
The NSA has surveillance on the Russian ambassador. The Russian ambassador has a phone call or two or three or four, whatever, with Michael Flynn. The NSA, therefore, knows what Michael Flynn said and what the Russian ambassador said, but Flynn was not the target. The law clearly states that since Flynn’s not the target, what he says can’t be disseminated. A special warrant would have to be granted, would have to be sought for them to take action on what they heard Flynn say. No such warrant, we have been told or we have been able to find, exists.
And yet the deep state has released details of the conversation involving Flynn and the Russian ambassador. That’s the unmasking. In normal legal circumstances, we’re not even supposed to know who the Russian ambassador’s talking to; he’s the target. And if it inadvertently picks up conversations involving Americans, inadvertent is what predominates here, and it’s not supposed to be used, it’s not supposed to be disseminated. That was the only crime that was actually mentioned yesterday.
Comey, refused to say whether there was an investigation of that going on. He would not characterize an investigation. He would not answer yes or no because he didn’t want anybody to know whether or not classified data, information had been discussed in any of these phone calls, so he said no.
We also find out that Comey said that he sought permission from the Department of Justice to reveal the investigation into the Trump collusion with Russia. He made a big deal of saying (paraphrasing),
It was important that we sought permission. And it was granted.
Jeff Sessions has recused himself from all this. Permission was granted by an Obama appointee that’s still the deputy attorney general at the Department of Justice, Dana Boente, a man. So Obama fingerprints are all over everything in this, Another example of political stance.
Comey did not even say that there would be an investigation of the unmasking of Flynn, and yet he said he was announcing the investigation of Trump colluding with Russia because the public had a right to know.
So you have to ask yourself will the public be unmasked for partisan reasons if they end up being in a conversation with somebody that the NSA is surveilling.
The former Director of National Intelligence for Obama, James Clapper, had said unequivocally on Sunday show after Sunday show that he saw no evidence ever of any collusion between Trump and the Russians. Clapper says no evidence, and the former CIA director, Morell — who is a Clinton supporter. Mike Morell is a Clinton supporter. He was a Clinton confidant at the CIA.
One of the questions I asked yesterday was: How can they know that if there isn’t or wasn’t an investigation? This is key. Because when Trump lobbed that little grenade that Obama had wiretapped him, all of these people jumped up and said that Trump was paranoid and being Nixonian. Comey supposedly revealed it for the first time yesterday. Another question: How did Clapper and Morell know that there’s no link if there’s no investigation?
Morell even said because of what’s been leaked, you can see the smoke out there, but there’s fire. How do they know so conclusively if there hasn’t been any electronic surveillance?
My point to you is that there hasn’t been an investigation and it has used surveillance, and it’s the only way these people would know for certain. So then we’re back to this. There was an investigation — there had to be — for Clapper and Morell to definitively know no collusion. The assumption would be that part of this would involve surveillance. We know that the Russian ambassador and all these other foreign actors are surveilled, so we know that surveillance is taking place, and we know there’s probably more than Flynn that have been caught up in it.
So did Loretta Lynch know of any of this when it was going on?
Did Obama know of any of this when it was going on?
Were they made aware of it? Were they told? Comey would not say one way or the other.
Trump has doubled down on this, the fact that he was being surveilled; and I think part of the reason is common sense.
What got Trump in trouble was identifying Obama and wiretap. If Trump had said something more generic, then they wouldn’t have had that to focus on to refute what Trump said, ’cause it’s easy to say, “Obama didn’t wiretap you.
Would you say there had to be some kind of electronic surveillance going on for these people to know definitively that there hasn’t been any collusion found.
So if there was no investigation (but there was) and if Trump is so screwball, so screwy, so paranoid — and there was not any kind of electronic surveillance, wiretap, — then where did all the stories come from? from the deep state? Were they just making it up as they went along?
They haven’t found any crimes whatsoever. They’re ignoring the crime of unmasking Mike Flynn, and we have no idea whether they’re pursuing any of the crimes involving Hillary and her server and national security being released and the foundation. Is Comey and the FBI being political?
I would have asked when did this investigation start? What started this? And then we learned he later said July. That fake dossier started it and the FBI took it as real. The one with the golden shower, the prostitutes supposedly being hired by Trump to urinate on Obama’s bed in the Moscow hotel. Fake intel is what led to this investigation. By the way, 97% of the members of the DOJ, Department of Justice, voted for Hillary Clinton — 97% — and probably just as many donated.
If I can’t say ye s or no to the 2 of them lying – I could guess that they were politically bias.

The reason why I have a weapons safe with a few firearms locked up in that safe is not the subject of my comment.
The subject is why Trump, with a loooooooong history as a serial liar, is hiding his tax records? The easy answer is that those tax records are evidence that Russia’s banks own him and those banks are controlled and/or owned by Putin.
The Hill.com reports and explains why, “Americans do not know the extent of Donald Trump’s business relations with Russia or China, but we need to know.” …
“Russians are not the only American adversaries to support Trump’s business. The state-owned Central Bank of China has loaned Trump hundreds of millions of dollars. The New York Times has reported that American companies owned by Trump have at least $650 million in debt and the Bank of China is among the lenders. Voters need to know how much Trump and his businesses owe Chinese banks as well as Russian oligrachs.”

Yes, both have broke the law but Trump wants to get rid of the CRIMINALS –

Diane, your challenge of the taxes and emoluments issue is the same as Harry Reid who threw down the gauntlet to the press to substantiate that taxes were not paid for the last ten years – Mitt Romney and he had no proof and later indicated hwe lied – typical misdirection by the Dems. This country – at least half of it that voted for Trump – could care less about his taxes – they want to see him move on his promises made..they have accepted him as president.

An added thought – a parallel to collusion with the Russians: that there has been collusion between Obama and the Russians. We know that by way of the open mic that caught Obama’s comment to Dmitry Medvedev just before the 2012 election. Obama was telling Putin that we’re going to be getting rid of additional nuclear missiles but he had his hands tied at the moment, but he said to Medvedev, “Tell Vladimir that I’ll have a little bit more flexibility after the election.”
There’s been collusion with the Clinton campaign and the Russians. Bill Clinton
profited from the sale of a portion of the U.S. uranium supply to one of the Russian satellite countries.
That any collusion, any suspected alliances that have existed here are gonna be between the Democrats and the Russians and not Trump.
Logic leads one to the idea that it might be the the Democrat Party objective is to undermine faith in our election.
The Democrat Party and their media acolytes are trying to make everybody think that the election last December was fraudulent all because they cannot deal with the fact that Hillary Clinton was conspired against. Large majorities of Americans in 31 states did conspire against Hillary. They didn’t vote for her and we don’t need the Russians helping to do that. Hillary did that all on her own.
She ran an arrogant and condescending campaign steeped in presumption that she was going to win, and it was even beneath her to have to travel to states that the Democrats all thought were automatic.
By the way, if you ever have some time and you want to actually enjoy yourself, go back and replay, pick any network — ABC, CBS, NBC, you can do this on YouTube — and watch election night coverage again. You’ll see smiles, pre-celebrations, happiness, everything but the popping of champagne corks around 6 and 7pm..There was a detectable and sudden change in attitude and opinion, and fear began to creep in, including on Fox.
Millions of Americans conspired to influence the outcome of elections, and there’s evidence all over the place for it. It’s called votes.
Devin Nunes, who is the committee chairman here, California, asking the questions. “As of today, Admiral Rogers, do you have any evidence that Russia cyber actors changed vote tallies in the state of Michigan?”
ROGERS: No, I do not, but I would highlight we are an intelligence organization, not a domestic intelligence organization, so it would be fair to say we are probably not the best organization to provide a more complete answer.
NUNES: So you have no intelligence that suggests or evidence that suggests any votes were changed?
ROGERS: I have nothing generated by the National Security Agency, sir.
NUNES: Director Comey, do you have any evidence at the FBI that any votes were changed in the states that I mentioned to Admiral Rogers?
COMEY: No.
So one can ask – will the Dems and libs finally come to a conclusion that it wasn’t the Russians but Hillary who lost?

Although I was described as over emotional regarding this issue of illegal immigrants raping, sodomizing , and murdering — when I asked what would one say to parents of illegals raping, murdering, sodomizing their children – you asked what would you say to any parent of a murdered child – the difference,IMHO, is a basic observation – we allow the illegal importation of these low lifes and then ship them to places unknown and sanctuary cities and states and colleges protect them – and low and behold even a judge sheltered a convicted illegal out the side door to avoid ICE – well here is another example of a 14 year old who didn’t have a “safe place” – And this is a community now trying to instill itself as a “sanctuary city” – Again, I would sue every politician and law enforcer who did not comply with the federal laws – below two articles reporting incident –
Another question for you – why do we as citizens offer up our kids to the depravity of towns in the name of diversity?
WASHINGTON — Two Rockville High School students accused of raping a 14-year-old classmate in a school bathroom will stay in jail after a Rockville district court judge ordered the two teens held without bond Friday afternoon.
Henry Sanchez, 18, of the Aspen Hill neighborhood of Rockville, Maryland, and Jose Montano, 17, have been charged with first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sexual offense in the violent assault of the female student. WTOP has a policy of not naming minors charged with crimes but Montano is being charged as an adult.
The students were arrested Thursday.
The victim told police she was walking in a school hallway on March 16 at about 9 a.m. when the two male students approached her, according to charging documents. Montano asked her twice to have sex, and after she refused, he forced her into a boys’ bathroom and then into a stall, according to police.
The student told police that Montano and Sanchez raped her multiple times, according to the court documents. She cried out in pain and repeatedly told the two students to stop, she told police.
Forensic investigators said an inspection of the boys’ bathroom later turned up suspected blood “that may be mixed with male fluid,” the court documents stated.
Sanchez and Montano were arrested at school, police said, and have been held since Thursday.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says they have a detainer on Sanchez, a citizen of Guatemala. The agency could not comment on Montano’s case since he is a minor.
In a letter to parents, Montgomery County Public Schools said school officials notified police immediately after the student reported the assault to a staff member.
“Ensuring a safe, secure and welcoming learning environment for all of our students is our top priority,” school officials said in the letter. “Our staff remains vigilant in the monitoring of our school each and every day. Please remind your child that if they believe they are a victim of an assault or see something inappropriate, they should immediately tell a staff member.”
White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday that a Maryland rape case, in which an 18-year-old with a pending immigration case is charged with assaulting a 14-year-old girl, is an example of why President Donald Trump is making illegal immigration a priority.
Henry E. Sanchez, 18, and Jose O. Montano, 17, are charged with raping the girl in a bathroom stall during school hours at Rockville High School in the D.C. suburbs Thursday, Montgomery County police said.
They approached her in a hallway and asked her to walk with them, police said. Montano asked her for sex, and after she refused, he and Sanchez forced her into a boys’ bathroom, where they both raped her and sodomized her, police said.
“Let’s remember the human side of this, that this is a tragic event that no child, no person, no parent should ever have to deal with,” Spicer said. “School should be a place where a parent puts their child on a bus or drops them off or sees them off and knows that they’re safe.”
