Yesterday, while in the car, driving from Long Island to Brooklyn, I received an email informing me that the hotly contested special election for school board in Dallas was won by corporate reformer Dustin Marshall. I had endorsed parent activist Mita Havlick, so I was disappointed.
I wrote a post on my cell phone, as I often do, and published it.
This morning I discovered that the post went out with a title but no text.
This is not the first time this has happened. It never happens on the laptop, just the iPhone.
There seems to be a mismatch between the blog host, which is WordPress, and my iPhone.
Sometimes the phone won’t allow me to add links to posts, which is why you will occasionally see a link spelled out instead of embedded.
Other times, I have had to rewrite a post over and over, because all the text disappeared as soon as I wrote it. No matter how many times I pressed “save,” nothing was saved.
I don’t know if the problem resides in the architecture of the iPhone or that of WordPress.
I don’t even know how to tell WordPress about the problem.
But if you ever see a post again that has no content, you will understand why. Let me know asap, as I read all comments.

Diane, try to contact wordpress here, if you want to…. 🙂 thanks for everything, always…. https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

Forgive me if you already have this information…there’s an iphone app for WordPress which has gotten mostly good reviews. You can get it at:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wordpress/id335703880
I don’t use it since my main blog is on Blogger which has no satisfactory way to use mobile blogging, but I do like the interface better…
Maybe I ought to move… 🙂

I’ve tried using that app. First version was pretty horrid. The edit function has gotten better, but it’s still buggy in keeping track of things and being able to work well. So even on my iPad I use Safari to edit my WordPress blogs…

I use my computer…period. If I’m not around it and I want to write something I’ll use a text client and then cut and paste…and I don’t do that very often either…
Maybe it’s my age, but I find the touch keyboards on my phone and tablet to be too difficult to use.

Off topic, related to a prior post. AEI’s Frederick Hess and, an external affairs manager from the Gates-funded Data Quality Campaign, wrote in their article, at Philanthropy Roundtable, “The lion’s share of reform minded academics today almost all work in Departments outside the education establishment,…Caroline Hoxby….”
Odd that, harvard’s graduate school of education, was ignored?
The same article included the statement, “…reformers…declare ‘We’ve got to blow up the ed schools.’ “

Maybe you could teach Gates how to write posts with no content and the world would be a better place.

Actually, I think gates could teach Diane a lot about “no content”
For example, he already has writing standards with no content down pat.

People have been having problems like this for a while. https://ios.forums.wordpress.org/topic/media-upload-failure-and-not-posting/page/3#pos
There always seems a way to do it if one has a IT person around or one spends the time learning how to do it oneself.
We live in a digital world.
Good luck.

Diane,
Cell phones are NOT secure. Laptops are more secure. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if you are being tracked and hacked.

Which wordpress app are you using? How about on your laptop?

I never write while driving. I am the passenger.
WordPress worked really well before it was updated.
No problems on computer, only on iPhone
I wrote a post a few days ago that disappeared four times until I gave up. I had to wait until I got to my laptop.

Thanks for all you do for us, as educators AND life-long learners. You keep us connected across the country and remind us, we are NOT the crazy ones in this current “big picture.” I look forward to reading your posts each day. Being a digital immigrant, I admit what Yvonne suggested went through my mind, too. Also, as you’re writing, please be careful. I know it’s illegal for people to text and drive in NY (they have these cool cut-outs where you can pull in and talk). I am sure it’s as you are riding as a passenger… You are too valuable to lose in an accident, so be safe (as best you can on those crazy roads) ! ~Warm regards and keep that pencil point sharpened!

In the political arena not much surprises me any more. In so MANY ways suppression of ideas et al. Somehow ways are found to minimize or delete things the moneyed interests do not want publicized.
