Stephen Dyer of the Innovation Institute was sure that the Ohio legislature would pass a bill to reform the state ‘s unaccountable charters. But he was wrong. The Senate passed the bill but it died in the House.
Why?
“The Real Politick of Ohio charter school reform stems from big campaign contributors William Lager, who runs the nation’s largest for-profit school – the Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow – and David Brennan, who runs White Hat Management, which also has an E-School – OHDELA. Between them, they’ve given about $6 million to politicians since the charter school program began. In return, they’ve collected one out of every four state charter school dollars ever spent.”
Ohio taxpayers concerned about misspent state money, have Stephen Dyer to expose the truth. Citizens who oppose student victimization by shady charter and on-line schools, have Innovation Ohio.
Trash pedaled by Walton-funded education deformers and campaign donations from education profiteers, undermine future prosperity for the state.
When Ohio newspaper reporters speed dial Fordham for a comment, to the exclusion of Innovation Ohio, they show how little regard they have for the truth
Ohio taxpayers voted for the people who did these thing. More than that, they re-elected them after the information on what was happening became public. It’s a hard truth to accept, but the majority of Ohio taxpayers, more accurately the majority of Ohio voters, like what is happening.
Is it that the voters like what is happening or don’t take the time to pay attention to what is actually going on? I live in New York, a place where the Governor is obviously overly influenced by those of money that back him, while the legislature didn’t like much of his education policy introduced in this years budget, they too are too influenced by the money of the charter school industry and voted for the expansion of charter schools anyway. Unless there is an uprising of parents of public school students, I fear what is going to happen. I am a public school teacher and cannot believe what is happening around the country. Unfortunately, many people don’t take the time to educate themselves about the issues and believe all of the slick adds that the charter school industry and money backed groups put out on television.
It failed because it DOESN’T work. Education is not a business but ‘they’ try to run it like a business, it was bound to fail. It will fail every time…the problem is public education (and us) will be broke by the time ‘they’ figure that out.
