You might (or might not) enjoy watching this 7-minute interview I did with former teacher Bob Greenberg. Bob has created a large archive of interviews like this one. It was filmed in my living room. The collection is called “The Brainwaves.” He sets up a camera and says “talk.” He doesn’t ask questions or interrupt.
NICE! Thanks, Diane.
Wonderful summation in seven minutes of where we are and where we should be in public education. I like the comment that when we hear that sweet sounding word “choice” we should remember that we are not consumers but citizens committed to the education of all the children. We sorely need to retreat from the current ethos that says, “I’ve got mine and I don’t give a damn about anyone else.”
A wonderful summation in 7 minutes of what has happened and what should happen in public education. I would like to share this with adults in our education hour of our Presbyterian Church (USA). Our denomination has long been a proponent of good public schools serving all the children. I love the comment that choice is not the goal because when it comes to educating our youth, we are not consumers, we are citizens. Thank you, Dr. Ravitch. Rick Johnson Wonder Lake,
Great 7 minutes, finally had down time today to watch it, very strong conclusion.
I very much enjoyed your interview Diane and agree wholeheartedly with your recommendations for improving education and society – both so intertwined.
Excellent, Citizen Ravitch.
