I must begin by saying this is satire.
If I don’t, some readers will take it seriously.
It was written by Paul Karrer, an elementary teacher in California.
He is responding to the demand from some quarters that teachers should be armed.
Read here and see what Paul thinks.

He writes the greatest satire. Yet it is so true what he is saying with some of the insane arguments for lots of guns in the schools and public places. Are schools going to become like Florida with a lot of Trevor Martins?

Come now: this fellow clearly hasn’t done his research. Everyone knows that “Blackwater” is Academi. It’s simply irresponsible not to get the facts straight when discussing such serious policy proposals and regulations.

Hey, now. Many alluded to this very thing here in this blog: teacher evaluations tied to target practice scores. Surely Diane’s blog should get some credit. 😛

Yep, should be part of teacher certification, though. Why wait until an applicant is actually hired, and why the two year window before completion of the NRA approved course? No, “And armed teacher is a good teacher. ” Oh, and the teacher supplies tax deduction allowance is too low. Should be $1000 to include ammunition. Reading, Righting, Rithmetic, and Range practice. The 4 R’s.

My favorite.. “How to determine whether it is a lunatic or the lunch lady knocking on the door.” This is hilarious. I’d like to add the requirement to have 100 hours of afterschool PD put on by an NRA “consulting” group and the use of “Lucy” to record the teacher’s ability to use a weapon -critiqued by an unknown person- in order to qualify for Merit Pay. All part of a government grant. What a world.

Funny. BTW another report showing that on-line education is less effective than traditional human contact. (Duh!)

Paul, what these folks don’t realize about you is that you write EXACTLY like you speak. Great piece!

Wow! Don’t let the NRA get hold of this, they’ll run with it. Yikes!

You’re right about that one, tskware! Just last night on “30 Rock Center,” they did a piece on The Onion, & how, for example, North Korea & Iran took two satirical Onion pieces (“Kim…Voted Sexiest Man Alive” & “Ahmindarjian (sp.-?–sorry!) More Popular Than Obama”) and ran with them in N. Korea & Iran! Too funny!

Ah, the first poster on this blog that accurately identifies himself. Much preferable to those who attack the appellation as name calling. How do you like to be addressed? Comrade? Citizen? Brother?
