Paul Thomas, our collective voice of conscience, explains the way that zombies take control. When your leaders are zombies, do not follow them. They will make you a zombie too.
How can you recognize a zombie? They talk about data, not individuals. They always say they put “kids first” or “children first,” but they don’t mean it. That’s meant to persuade you they are not zombies. People who truly put children first don’t boast about it.
Don’t be fooled by zombie rhetoric.

I prefer to think of “zombification” more like movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers, in which alien plants created emotionally- and intellectually-dead replicas of vibrant humans.

To the corporate moguls this is a game of chess, their winnings being billions of dollars. They have been playing this game for many years now. The big problem is that they never informed anyone what or whom they were playing against. They just kept making their moves while their opponents never realized they were in their game and therefore never had a chance to make a move.
We are now at the point of check. If we take RTTT then checkmate, they win. If we take the NCLB waivers, checkmate they win. The only thing we can do is call this for what it is, outrageous. We have to protest their game as destructive to our society and detrimental to students’ education. Now, as before, we have no moves. We must knock over the board in protest!

Tim–if you are correct, then our unions, local, state, and national, must know the corporatocracy endgame. No wonder no one respects us. We’re sheep…and sheep get slaughtered.

Look behind the condescending way teachers are spoken to and about by so-called education reformers (and all too often by their union leaders, as well) and it’s clear they think we’re chumps and rubes for remaining in the classroom.
And rubes are there to get hustled and fleeced.
