Sometimes people complain that Mitt Romney can’t understand today’s schools because he went to an elite private school.
But don’t be too quick to judge.
EduShyster points out that his school had a lot in common with today’s “no-excuses” schools.
Just forget the part about small classes, ample athletic facilities, a gorgeous campus, lots of arts, no standardized tests.

What about the part where daddy’s (or mommy’s) endowment guarantees advancement and acceptance at a major Ive League university, like some other Republican presidents I can think of?
Everyone should go to “60 Minutes” TV site and run the archives shows on charter schools. One in particular was an eye opener. A group of charter schools are run by Turks. I could not understand the “English teacher” that was interviewed. The divorced wife of one teacher said her husband had to kick back 40% of his pay to the school. The school took jobs away from American teachers and got work visas for Turks. In fact, it would seem that charter schools are ripe for people to take advantage of our tax dollar.
Are these the Gulen schools? We have one in my town. I do not hear very good things about it.
Case in Fulton County Schools in Atlanta. Turks ran a charter school. Local system was alerted of their practices. Charter schools need to be approved by local boards, not state boards. Beware, beware! Too much $$$ flowing toward charter schools. Motive, questionable if for educating children in poverty!
Sadly, the same can be said about President Obama. He never had the honor to attend a public school nor have his own children attended public schools. Perhaps that is why he supports the firing of teachers and other harsh measures. No-excuses schooling seems to be bi-partisan.

Taps right into his ‘Club Med’ inner rich kid. Feeling entitled may have exposed him to always know what is best for those who are not smart enough to have the wealth he has accumulated. I’m sure he knows how to fix education in an instant. Superior intellect and social status gives you such clarity of thought!?
