A reader suggests we try these routes to get the attention of the White House. As you know, they take teachers and principals for granted and they don’t hear our voices. They assume our votes are already counted. Let’s help President Obama by contacting him and sending him a message.

Who will review petitions that cross the signature threshold?
The White House will convene a regular meeting with representatives from all of the major policy offices (like the National Economic Council, Domestic Policy Council and others) that will review petitions that have crossed the signature threshold for a response. This group will help determine which policy office in the White House or federal agency should review and respond to petitions and ensure that petition responses are posted as quickly as possible.
The White House will only listen (maybe) if it’s made clear that their listening is the price of our votes. Telling them that they already have your vote and hoping they’ll do the right thing is a vain hope.

“Remember you have just 30 days to get 25,000 signatures in order to get a response from the White House.”
25,000 teachers? Who can write a good petition about public schools and teachers?
If my memory that this blog has received one million hits is correct, then I think this blog can generate 25,000 signatures. Folks will forward the appeal for signatures to email lists and other blogs with which they participate.
Let’s do this.
25,000 ? No problem ! We have more than 25,000 teachers in Florida, alone, on just one of our social media pages… we can do this !
I started a petition. Maybe they will hear, maybe not. I doesn’t hurt to try.
Pass it on and we will see what we can do.

Good job on starting something important. Already signed.
THANK YOU!!!!
Signed.
We can’t even get together to sign a petition?
yep – only 11. I can’t even get my union member friends in WA to sign. What is with that? It make it look like we (teachers) don’t care about it.
Signed and passed on to all my teachers!
Am I wrong or when I signed on did I only see it 11 signatures so far?
