It may be a federal crime to threaten the life of the president of the United States. Who would know this better than a former President?
Yet Trump posted an image of President Biden, kidnapped and bound with rope lying in the back of a truck.
Olga Lautman posted this on her blog, Trump Tyranny Tracker.
Earlier today, Trump exhibited his alarming inclination towards violence by sharing a video on Truth Social depicting President Joe Biden bound in the back of a pickup truck. This disturbing act is just the latest instance of Trump injecting political violence into our national discourse. The recollection of Ambassador Yovanovitch’s ordeal stands as a stark reminder of Trump’s perilous nature and the threats he poses to democracy.
The Meidas Touch blog has similar images. Apparently Trump saw these Trump trucks while visiting on Long Island and liked them so much he posted them on “Truth Social.”
Some MAGA Republicans have been displaying this graphic depicting President Joe Biden bound with rope and laying in the bed of a pickup truck apparently kidnapped. Trump is now encouraging such imagery.
This is loathsome. It also might be criminal. The Secret Service and FBI should investigate those who encourage violence against the President.
Trump can do anything he likes, clearly, with utter impunity.
I am NOT speechless, just disgusted.
This is more than sick. Sure says a lot and none is good.
The dump should be in jail, not walking around.
joyce vance also writes about this today. During the previous election, I recall the extreme (repub) had Bernie outside a gas chamber in Auschwitz. I complained at that time and I made a new colleague/internet friend… that is when i first met Ellen Lubic (most likely from Diane’s blog). Now I know there are more of us who find this despicable and unacceptable to be used as “propaganda” to sway millions of voters to follow the fascist trail… @Ellen Lubic we became fast friends /colleagues ever since… thank you. This is about community standards and as educators we need to model the appropriate conversations and discussions about the public venues and arenas/forum where we gather .
Violent graphic pictures of political candidates should be considered a threat and an actionable offense.
RT, I believe it is a crime. But Trump ignores the law
I totally agree; thank you for recognizing this immediate need; we need to figure out ways to lift the community standards through dialogue and participation ; I find it very hard to ignore this material that is so offensive every day …
And when they bring him in, don’t hesitate to slam his head on the Paddy Wagon on the way to Federal Court .
And should he prevail, with utter immunity.
He is a sick man. An insane, sociopath, sick man.
As are his supporters who parade around with such imagery. Aren’t there laws about this kind of violence in public?
As are the elected state and fed legislators and governors who swore on a Bible to uphold the Constitution and possibly on some ethics policies or heck, even church!
And they sit back and watch. Hide without meeting their constituents. And are silent.
political discourse has sunk to an incredibly low bar. Not a fan of trump, as many regular contributors to this forum know, I am nonetheless disgusted by memes that flow through the facbookuverse of The Donald grotesquely depicted in the talons of an eagle, frozen on ice, or bound and gagged. The only real difference is that we came very close to seeing members of Congress harmed by a mob literally and not in a meme.
The problem with these violence memes is that they divert attention from the real problem: that trump has committed crimes, that the Supreme Court is aiding and abetting those crimes by allowing his lawyers to slow walk the adjudication, and thousands of voters are followers of this criminal.
I agree these violent images are disgusting no matter who they are meant to harm. The difference is that we have an ex-president actively promoting vile images of his opponent.
agreed!
Why aren’t these trucks being pulled over. I thought any threat to the president is taken seriously. How is this worse than a tweet or blog or something calling for a President’s harm?
The headline here is accurate: Alert the Secret Service; or on the “day after elected” become the SS
High probability the driver of the truck is a cop.
Please unblock the license plate. Curious about the state.
Ed,
The license plate is blurred in the photo. No doubt the state is NY. Even though the state is blue, there are very aggressive Trumpers in NY.
whoever is driving that truck should be arrested
And if something bad should befall President Biden and the van driver confesses he was paid to promote such violence by Donald Trump, the Supine Court will issue a preemptory decision declaring that cause and effect cannot be proven.
The license plate on the commando van is TRUMP 4US. It can easily be traced in the DMV database. If it is a forgery–add that to the list of crimes that were committed in this latest flouting of the law.
BTW SNL is still not funny–despite what the talking heads insist is clever material.
The only thing redeemable about SNL these days is that it annoys TF out of Donald Trump.
The conservative former Federal Judge, Michael Luttig, makes the observation that Trumps is normalizing political violence. Here’s an interview with Nichole Wallace, after Trump’s attacks on Judge Juan Marchand and his family. He calls them mobster tactics; hard to disagree.

In Michael Cohen’s first book, where he explained why he worked for Trump, he said that Trump reminded him of a Mafia Don, and that impressed him.
When I was a kid, we had a tabloid that published in the afternoon, The Record American. Often, the front page photo featured a dead man, with the headline “Another Mob Hit”. The husband of one of my aunts got crosswise with someone he owed a gambling debt to, and he went missing for a few days. He had multiple bruises on his face when he returned. It impressed me, and I was relieved his picture wasn’t on the front page.
Michael Cohen might be a liar, but he was telling the truth there.
Diane, thanks for the link to Olga Lautman’s blog. I didn’t know she had one and have subscribed. She’s been sounding the alarm about Trump for close to a decade now.
Wow! The picture is shocking–but not surprising. I considered posting it and commenting as well, but then wondered if I’d be helping his cause by circulating his crime. Meanwhile, if such a depiction is a crime, why are Federal authorities doing nothing? I realize the Former President already has fines he can’t seem to pay, but still, something should be done.
why are Federal authorities doing nothing?
because a different legal system applies to the rich
