John Deasy Hired By Broad Academy

In case you were wondering where John Deasy would land next, after leaving the superintendency of Los Angeles, he will work at the Broad Superintendents Academy, an unaccredited training program which teaches school leaders business methods and supports charter schools and closing public schools.

    I hate to piss on your parade but we have been through this with Deasy before , so I am going to spare the despair that shadows hope since Obama took the word hostage . Deasy will not get more than a concession about his unethical bidding and the matter will drop like a bomb on anyone who assumes there is going to be justice . Laws, ethics, human decency are all optional for the elite , a group I have made scary sense of the last few days after reading Mercedes scathing indictment of Campbell Brown hypocrisy in attacks on tenure . She sat with Rhee and her dimwit hubby as she delivered a speech full of lies and loaded terms about perverts as she sat beside Mayor Johnson and Rhee who have balls being there when Johnson was caught abusing his power, misusing funds and stood accused of sexually abusing several students . He admitted to being naked with one girl and another was adamant he be prosecuted. Someone in Sacramento courts agreed and the mayor was on the edge of being a national scandal when Rhee and shysters descended upon school . They mislead victims and witnesses, intimidated and offered bribes . Teachers say she told them to say something different than what they had been saying but none of that was working . Desperate they got Obama to save Kevin. The crusader was suddenly fired , teachers were so upset they resigned and the media backed off .
    You think Deasy will be NY different? All along he has been thick with DC naming new schools after Obama and Michele who visited LA an extraordinary number of times , many of them to visit the LAUSD as part of the healthy food initiative where she mandated all kids take one fruit and veggie , which means $100k in food is wasted every day at schools , which is crazy .
    Here are some other revelations :
    Jamie Lyton is from Chicago and she goes way back with Obama and has some impressive titles in organizations affiliated with the white house. LASR epitomizes that dominate narrative that even now Deasy has in his pocket . KPPC never alludes to the litany of messes and lies left in Deasy.s wake when they report the Broad position. The allude to juked grad stats and test data that means whatever they want it to mean . But if it meant anything it wooed mean TEACHERS were doing a good job not Deasy who has doubled class sizes, added extra period to HS schedule for teachers violating CBA and waived the damned tests anyway . He filled schools with interns, and Brown caught him labeling them as credentialed teachers to hide the purges and to appease NCLB violations but Brown can do little about Deasy or he would do it. I think Deasy stands for everything Brown despises and it is because of his kind that our GOV has to compromise .
    Deasy will pull the strings at LAUSD from the Broad and install someone to be his puppet . He is aiming for the DOE appointment but if Hillary wins Weingarten could be the the show in and he must know it.
    So Lyton is married to some old money think tank exec at SONY ( is this the studio that gave us waiting for superman?) His boss is a scary ass lawyer who was Clinton’s attorney during Lewiinski mess. She saved Oliver North’s bacon and she is married to former white collar crime prosecutor Joel Klien, whose star rose as soon as he let Bill Gates off easy for his ample transgressions.
    His appointment as school chancellor is marked by rubber room outrages , acrimonious and aggressive antics with teachers that includes many lies about tenure, etc, Just like Deasy his sociopathy is in full bloom so dishonesty is second nature, shameless. Before he was finally driven out , he gave himself and Murdoch contracts for their new ed tech company Amplify as well as a MiSiS type program that just got the boot it was so lousy. It is pretty questionable conduct . But I figure these hot shots are hip to something we are not concerning deregulation. That said, even if they are not, our president is clearly not going to uphold laws . It is just like LAUSD , which is a microcosm in the same lawless state. Right now the crony capitalists are draining the district of funds while kids get less and less . It is unseemly, and Obama gave LAPD drones and armed the school police with rocket launchers and tanks because he sees the potential unrest and has no intention of letting us protest . Ferguson protests in LA were ugly and under reported .
    Net hald the people arrested are still in twin towers . Richard Fine spent more than a year in that hell for urging ppeople to tecuse the dirty LA judge. A teacher in San Diego tells me the district is demanding her emails and has her on leave for allegedly sending a letter to the BOE . She has yet to see the letter and waited months to learn why she was in trouble i made her get a lawyer and she is glad she did . He was stunned at how many rights they stepped on , I am not after being assailed , harassed and hearing and witnessing horrors that teachers to suicide or an early grave, incarcerating teachers with false charges , crippling them financially, professionally and emotionally They been getting away with it for years . But Obama paved the way and no one will do anything about criminally inclined sociopaths . Chris Christy is going skate after his impudent wrath killed someone after he abused his power to punish the people he was sworn in to serve.We have to accept there is no law or due process with Obama.We woukd fare better wuth Glen Beck in the white house or even mcCain . Hillary is Broads pony but Elizabeth Warren is the great blond hope . We have to get behind her now or fight for green party. Maybe I will leave this country. I am ashamed and afraid to be part of it

Karma is on top of it now as HALL has cancer so she is not attending hearings , they are postponed . the teachers were ruined even the whistle blowers and she is treated special with Arne Duncan expressing continued awe at her scores

Makes sense where else could he go. Districts don’t hire men who get fired for corrupt practice outside the law and the board. But Eli broad does he loves him cause he does whatever the reformers and billionaires tell him to do. Sadly he will be portrayed as an unsung hero when he isn’t respected by the teachers or administrators he led. My only hope is he will get prosecuted for misuse of public funds and rigging the bidding on the I pads. Meanwhile the billions he spent uselessly and without authority or permission could have helped so many kids.

It’s a great deal for Broad. Now Deasy can go lobby his former colleagues in government. Club membership stays the same- they just rearrange chairs.

It’s a seamless transition from “public” to “private”. The line between the sectors is all but gone.

I bet we see him back in “public sector” at some point. How many times have they recycled Paul Vallas? Five? He made the entire ed reform national circuit and ended up back in Illinois.

Edu-reformers are very loyal to each other and take care of their own. Lots of back scratching circles. I am almost in awe how scandal and lawsuits and bad press and hypocrisy are no longer detractors for getting a new job. I guess only test scores do matter. . . except they do not have those either.

The Democrats have decided to go with a bold, yet counter-intuitive education agenda consisting entirely of promoting standardized testing:

“With debates about the appropriate role for the federal government in public education increasingly polarized, the secretary of education, Arne Duncan, insisted on Monday that the administration would not back away from annual testing for students and performance evaluations of teachers based in part on the results of the tests.”

I’ll make a bold predication. Republicans will allow Democrats to retain their beloved testing, because Republicans back testing anyway!

Once again, public schools will get testing and nothing else. Priorities! 🙂

Why is it the flim-flam men/women always end up on their feet? Tom VanderArk, despite his failed charters and other costly school endeavors, is still out there, soaking up money from the Gates Foundation. Deasy, Vallas, Rhee, Moskowitz, and a multitude of others who have crookedly profited off public ed, all are treated as education saviors by the media, while people like Arne Duncan can subtly point fingers at teachers through various tweets, speeches, and comments and blame them for any and all public ed shortcomings. Disgusting.

The Broad Prize, a sad school competition among these formal institutions of where students once thrived, has become esteemed among educators who are building a reputation so that they can become superintendents of oppressive institutions. Very sad!

Seems a logical place for him to land. One unethical, top down manager working for another. Will DZ get his due? I agree with Renee, it has to be left to karma because the FBI, state or whoever will do nothing. Too many people paid out of this fiasco. With Cortines, LAUSD continues with business as usual. With the PERB ruling, UTLA will hold the district to nothing, will not strike and will not secure legal protection for its members. A teacher’s best bet in this bash the teacher climate is to secure your own legal protection. As for the money that you pay every month to UTLA, call it a donation because that’s all its being used for, to pay salaries of union officials. Sorry if I sound negative but experience of zero help from the union lead me here.

Well, I gotta say I like these comments. Seems a lot of people see how corrupt our system of Wall Street owned reverse democracy works and how those complicit are hovering over their works, with impunity, as capitalist deities.

I see the choir singing louder. I see small acts of bravery and dissent; the retributions for such acts against the corruption of authoritarianism being dealt bitter blows to those who dare to act.

And now it’s time to act bigger, stronger. Sing the marching chants. Attack. Bring the commons back to the people. Time to figger if you’re on the bus or off the bus of extreme civil disobedience. Take a risk. Your way of life is being incrementally destroyed anyway.

  One of them got over 693,000 hits within the first 24 hours of publication…then it went viral and got millions of hits nationwide and beyond. There are an endless string of comments by LAUSD teachers focusing on Deasy’s mismanagement…and his wild temper.
  
  The article on the Love Affair Between Deasy and the LA Times even brought angry comments from the education editorial writer who insisted I retract my report. I didn’t. She claimed that her editorials were reportage, not opinions….I differed and
  claim(ed) that all editorials are only opinions of the writer. This print meda is firmly on the side of the billionaire Rheeformers, and they continue to quote/ laud both Broad and charters.
  
  Indeed, LAUSD presents a can of worms, but the Broad Academy and Eli function more like maggots feeding off the life blood and flesh of public schools and their teachers, students, and taxpayers.
