Legislators called for an investigation of the Educational Achievement Authority after the Detroit News revealed that Governor Rick Snyder’s favorite “reform” had piled up $240,000 on credit card debt.
“Among the findings: $178,000 was spent on hotel and airfare to 36 cities from April 2012 to February, while another $10,000 was spent on gas for Covington’s chauffeured car, $25,000 for IKEA furniture and $8,000 combined at Amazon.com, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Meijer, Home Depot and Lowe’s.”

“Addressing the persistent power problems that have plagued the district, Duggan said the city’s public lighting department is installing redundant power lines in areas near schools. Various schools in the district have collectively lost more than 200 days this school year because of closures due to power outages.
“I’m quite confident that when the children are back to school in the fall, we’ll have fully operational power lines, and we won’t have a repeat next year of the problems we’ve seen this year,” he said.”
Yup. It’s definitely ineffective teachers, low expectations, and a devotion to the “status quo”. That or 200 days lost to power outages.
Maybe the state could work on getting electric power to the existing schools instead of opening new schools?

I’m laughing. These reformy people and their sense of entitlement, they just can’t help themselves can they? Any time there’s a pile of cash they think it must be a gift to them to spend as they please. Because they’re just so much better than the rest of us the same rules can’t possibly apply to them now can it. Send them all to a 4th world prison so we don’t have to waste any more of our tax dollars on them.

I was raised in Michigan. It WAS a great state. Now it is a great state to be FROM. The problem: I now live and have lived the major portion of my life in Indiana. Talk about from the frying pan into the fire.

Maybe, donating to public schools in poor districts to upgrade the facilities.
