The U.S. Department of Justice abandoned its effort to block the Louisiana voucher program in districts where it undermined federal desegregation orders.
Republicans were jubilant.
Millions of state funds will now be spent to send children to fundamentalist religious schools that teach creationism and have no curriculum or certified teachers. This is called “reform.”
NYPost gives a ringing endorsement to Arne Duncan’s dim view of public school parents:
“Suck it up, soccer moms. Arne Duncan is right.”
I love these gritty, tough ed reform sermons. I notice they’re only delivered to “soccer moms” and teachers, never to anyone with any money or power.
All (public) schools suck and you’re all stupid is the ed reform message for the masses, delivered by Duncan, singing from the same hymnal as every Right wing mouthpiece on the planet.
Nothing pundits like better than Christie dressing down a teacher or Duncan musing on how stupid and clueless “moms” are.

The NYP is owned by Rupert Murdoch. This NYP is not that of ‘old’: it is a conservative rag; a sad truth. No doubt Diane remembers the ‘old’ NYP, from her time at TC.
Have ed reformers explained how “parent empowerment” is all the rage when they’re leading astroturf groups privatizing public schools yet public school parents should shut up and sit down when they’re bucking ed reformers?
I attended public schools, so maybe I’m missing some subtle distinction that only graduates of America’s finest private school academies can grasp, but isn’t this a contradiction in the dogma? Only certain kinds of “empowerment” are encouraged, apparently.
Not “reform” but “Rheeform”.
Not surprising. No trials for war crimes/criminals, Wall Street bankers, NSA heads who lie or stretch the truth. Why would this be different?
