   Temper this news with caution. Yes, this is another sign of the intense pressure that the edubullies are under, but don’t assume that it can only get better from here on out. For example, perhaps there will be another tragic installment of the Rheality Show “Dance of the Lemons” as John Deasy goes on to wreck another school district a la Paul Vallas:

   “I go in, fix the system, I move on to something else.”

   How is he to be held responsible for what he has done? Is there any guarantee that his replacement won’t be even worse?

       Bill Gates doesn’t sell Ipads! He is probably very mad that his ex-protege Deasy chose a competitor’s company!

       Well, another source of big money to so-called reform has been the widow of Steve Jobs, and she sure stands to benefit from the Ipad nonsense.

       I doubt also that Gates, Broad, and the other deformers (lets’s please call them that, and not let them take over that good word reform) are happy at all about their man Deasy leaving LAUSD. Hopefully the school board (whose majority changed in the last election) will find someone to be supt. who is not a deformer.

   All parents and taxpayers must say NO to the corporate reformers who abuse state and federal laws for the purpose of diverting state and federal funds to corporations. I’m curious if Deasy and/or his subordinates received kickbacks related to the iPad scandal. Kickbacks are funneled to corrupt insiders through a variety of financial schemes.

   Deasy’s FINANCIAL black box is like Enron’s black box. Follow the money and related contracts signed by Deasy or his subordinates.

     Bill Gates owns 40% of Microsoft. Although Bill Gates does not personally own Apple Stock, Microsoft does.
     Also, Gates would generally be happy for any institution to spend large amounts of money on technology. He intends for the technology to eventually do away with physical teachers.
     Gates owns lots of Pearson stock. I-Pads would be used to deliver the Common Core aligned materials brought to you by Pearson.

       The article indicates that Bill Gates’ money is essentially managed by others. He has $66 billion. He gives away billions. His ideas may be wrong and he may be enabling others to do nasty things, but what is with accusing the 2 nd or 3 rd richest man in world looking for a piece of the action on a $1 billion deal. It makes no sense. What evidence do you have that Gates owns stock in Pearson? Do you have any evidence whatsoever that he is doing any of this for money?

       P.S. According to Forbes, MS no longer owns Apple Stock it acquired in settling a business dispute in the 90s.

       You are right about one thing….Bill Gates is not all that interested in money. He is mainly interested in control. He has built his empire with the tools of monopoly, copyright infringement, and government contracts. But he does find money useful. He can buy any organization that is for sale. He can control what gets studied and researched in colleges by giving grants. He can control the media by donating money to stations to improve their coverage of education.

       He brings that perspective to public education. He has partnered with Pearson to control education around the world. He announced his partnership with Pearson. This is not a secret. Control. Manipulation. Destruction. This is what Gates has to offer public education.

       Why are you defending this man?

       indicates that increased cases of AFP are likely a reporting issue due to the increased surveillance of polio related symptoms in order to establish whether or not polio has been eradicated. Your kind of wild statements are disgraceful and totally irresponsible.

       You are lecturing me on irresponsibility? You are defending Bill Gates who co-hosted a conference on eugenics in London in 2012 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first conference. He is known for bragging at a TED talk that through his vaccine program he can predict a reduction in population of 15%. These are facts. People who defend the perpetrators of a crime are irresponsible. I aim to spread the truth even when it is not politically correct or part of the majority mindset..        Normally, he said, the chances of children under the age of 15 getting affected by non-polio AFP are 1-2 per 100,000. But, the rate of non-polio AFP nationally “is now 12 times higher than expected.” In 2011, an additional 47,500 children were newly paralyzed, over and above the standard rate of 2 children per 100,000 non-polio AFP cases, says the paper in the journal

       That is a correlation and AFP is associated with a host of other problems. There has been a huge increase in surveillance that is capturing more incidents of AFP period. The link to the increase in polio inoculation may well be spurious. You need a physical/biological model that specifically connects the polio vaccine to NPAFP, otherwise you have a case of the strong correlation of rum consumption and parsons in Boston in the 18th Century. I read the article you linked to. No physical model is proposed. Did you read the article I linked to?

       As to the alleged Bill Gates statement, do you have a citation or link?

   I am an LAUSD Adult Ed teacher who teaches in the evening. We received a text w/ the news at about 7:00 p.m. tonight. You should have heard the cheers and whoops of joy that permeated the offices and classrooms when the news broke. (1,800 Adult Ed teachers were laid off in June 2012 because Deasy decided to eliminate our program. All clerical staff and administrators were laid off too. 800 teachers were hired back in August 2012.)
   Yes, it’s true we don’t know what’s next, but it feels, even for a few minutes, that we can breathe again. That there is some hope. Perhaps the tide IS turning. Just for today at least, we’re celebrating.

   Big hug juhlieann…we hung together and we did it. Now we must have a voice in choosing the new Supt. and Asst. Supt. who definitley must have no connection with the Broad Academy. I just wrote a long post on the Diane’s first announcement, so shall not repeat myself, but thankyou all for your support…it took a united community of teachers, parents, and community members all feeding nformation into the mix that brought us to tonight. Hooray.

     And I read today that the Gov. is rethinking added funding of Adult Ed. Sometimes things do happen for the bettter, if not for the best.

     Like Teachingeconomist, I too hold an all out celebration at arms length for the moment. But what a great relief and hope this news brings to us.

    I don’t care who is responsible for getting rid of Deasy, I’m just glad he’s going. I hope the board of education accepts his resignation and we can get on with looking for a superintendent who supports public education. The ipads are not a done deal and its possible that this fiasco will be stopped also. Congrats to the LA community for gettiing rid of this insensitive, greedy, corporate controlled privateer. We want to start fresh and whatever we get next, it will be better than Deasy if the parents, teachers and students are brought into the decision-making process. Hooray…and Hooray again……

    Wow it sounds like a crazy dictator has been toppled. It sounds like many people in the district have been ruled with an iron fist. I really hope LA gets a great new leader who will bring in a positive environment. Why do people think ruling with terror is a way to get things done? It just alienates workers and makes people less productive.
