This is a puzzling story, reported by Mother Crusader.
The Solomon Charter School was approved to open in 2012 and just announced a few weeks ago that it was closing. Just like that.
It is a cyber charter. It teaches Hebrew and Chinese.
Why was it approved to take taxpayer dollars? Why did it close?
Follow the twists and turns of Pennsylvania’s powerful charter lobby.
Hi Diane,
Thank you for your post. Unfortunately the link isn’t working. Here is the correct link:

Best,

So why not have those courses offered via cyber method in a public school? We could use the cyber possibilities if we could quit having the “choice” conversation. Have choice AT public school. Or if you really need a charter, just have one central one like NC has had for a long time, which is a Science and Math boarding school that the state funds with free rides to NC State afterwards (or something like that). Make it work for the state via public school. The state is, afterall, the people who live there. Not just the people who live there funding other people at running choice operations that open and close like cheap side of the road diners.
It seems like leaders in the state no longer represent the interests of states.
I want to be a mother crusader too. Working on it.
Sounds like you are well on your way Joanna! Best of luck to you!! Feel free to reach out if you need any encouragement!
