I can’t wait to read Jersey Jazzman’s review of “Reign of Error.” Here is an excerpt from the book.
It appears next week.

Looking forward to reading the book. Thank you for the courage. The excerpt is delicious. We will have lots of dumpster schools. Another state’s scores out today:

Diane,
You are such a teaser.
I ordered your book as soon as I heard about it.
I’ve been waiting
and waiting.
I’m a special education teacher, so patience comes with the job,
but one more of these “Lucky Person just read my book, (& you are not lucky, Tim),” and I may lose it.
On the other hand, I’m totally ready for the Ravitch Revolution.
Your patient friend,
Tim
Tim,
I would hand out copies to everyone who reads this blog if I could. Bloggers got review copies, and you will see their reviews, as well as mainstream media reviews.
Thanks, Diane, I’m just giving you a hard time because I love you.
But, I WANT THAT BOOK!
This note is probably not necessary, but I urge readers of this blog to use all social media and other means at their disposal to let people know about Dr. Ravitch’s new book.
Write to your paper about it. Post on its website. And post about it on every other website you can think of.
Encourage parents to start groups to read and discuss it.
Tell your local reporters and politicians about it.
Talk about it in your church or temple or mosque. I plan to give a talk about it at my local Unitarian church.
Give it instead of that other gift that you were thinking about giving.
Start a Meetup or parent group of your own to fight the totalitarian test-kids-till-they-scream machine.
Get some people together, print up some handbills, and leaflet about it.
Do your part to make this grassroots movement grow.
Yes, the other side has a lot of money, but they have only bankrupt ideas, ideas that are hurting children.
This book could well be the incendiary that destroys the deform juggernaut that is rolling over teachers and kids,
but if that’s going to happen, we all need to do our part.
Thank you, Jazzman.
Let’s all get the word out. I know that I intend to.
“Yes, the other side has a lot of money, but they have only bankrupt ideas, ideas that are hurting children.” The implied quantifier of the last term is “all.” However, some children are benefiting from some charters.
Extremely excited to read the book! Don’t worry, I’ll be posting my own review 🙂
