Governor Rick Scott of Florida is taking out ads saying he too is opposed to high-stakes testing.
Of course, Jeb Bush travels the nation boasting of the wonders created by the same high-stakes testing regime perfected on his watch as governor.
But Coach Bob Sikes, Florida blogger, says that Scott’s apology is too little, too late.
Floridians are steamed about the teach-to-the-test mania that has gripped their schools for years.
What next in Florida?
Even if Rick Scott is lying through his teeth, the fact that he thinks it is politically prudent to slam high-stakes testing is encouraging. We need to fan this flame!
But they are gearing up for a new test aligned to the common core…acronym PARCC…he is just moving the shells around…trying to make the citizens think he cares. They get their talking points from the privatizers. I bet he can’t even go off script and have a conversation with an informed teacher or parent or student.

Thanks for posting the PARCC link. This is another burden we are not looking forward to in Maryland schools.
Perhaps Rick Scott is waking up to the high cost of sustaining Common Core and every other mandate that goes with it, when the federal dollars begin to dry up in the very near future.
If you haven’t seen this video yet, please watch. It was created by the
Chicago Teachers’ union. The politicians clearly get their talking points from the “reformers”. Jonah Edelman, Stand on Children, states so very clearly in reference to Rahm Emanuel. If you don’t have time to watch it all….get to 8:34. I don’t know if Edelman knew he was being taped, but he was.
Who tells Rick Scott what to say and when to say it?
There is no doubt after watching this that their mission is to break the unions.

It’s funny how Scott (correctly) declined federal money for trains but jumped at the opportunity to get Race to the Top money. Will the state be able to fund this when the federal money runs out?
