Aaron Parnas writes up-to-the-minute news on his blog “The Parnas Perspective.” This was shocking to read today:
Good evening, everyone. I want to start tonight with Ukraine, because the messages I’ve been getting from people there over the past few days have been some of the hardest I’ve read since this war began. People are telling me it’s getting worse. They are terrified. They’re watching Russia systematically knock out power plants and substations as winter closes in, and now they’re reading reports of an intercepted Russian document that lays out the goal in plain terms: cut the electricity, cut the water, and make Ukraine’s cities unlivable until people flee.
And at that exact moment, Donald Trump chose to waive the sanctions Congress passed to stop it. A law he signed himself just last month. Ukraine wasn’t even warned.

Yet you have no problem with Ukraine targeting Russian civilian/energy targets, right? What’s that saying again, war is hell? Ukraine has already lost. They could stop the damage at any time with a negotiated settlement that recognizes the security guarantees Russia has been asking for all along. But I guess you’d rather they keep feeding their young (and not so young) men into the meat grinder. Have any of your children, grandchildren, nephews, etc. ever volunteered to suit up and risk their lives if “Ukrainian freedom” is so important? Or is it only important to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian? Incidentally, 57% of Ukrainians want a negotiated settlement to the war. https://x.com/MaxBlumenthal/status/2110795374550224955

Dienne,
You have rooted for and made excuses for Putin even before he invaded. You insisted he wouldn’t invade, and he did. You said he was trying to “denazify” Ukraine but that echoed Putin. Putin has targeted civilians since he first invaded: hospitals, schools, cultural sites, apartment buildings, homes, shopping centers. You don’t care.
Of course, Ukraine must defend itself against the invader. Of course they should knock out oil refineries and energy facilities.
Why do you insist on one standard for the Russians (kill at will), and another for the country that’s fighting for its life.
Heee is a necessary reminder. I don’t post comments that insult me. This war is not about what you or I want. It’s about stopping military aggression and not rewarding the aggressor. Any more personal insults and you will be permanently banned.

Dienne77 “thinks” like Max Blumenthal.
Blumenthal has been widely labeled by critics and analysts as a pro-Russian propagandist or apologist. He has contributed to Russian state-backed outlets like RT (Rusia Today) and Sputnik, and attended an RT 10th-anniversary gala in Moscow in 2025 where Vladimir Putin was present.
In conflicts like the war in Ukraine, Blumenthal consistently opposes Western military aid and sanctions. He attributes the conflict primarily to Western provocation and NATO expansion rather than Russian aggression, leading critics to accuse him of amplifying Kremlin war propaganda.
His work through The Grayzone has frequently downplayed or defended the actions of foreign adversaries of the U.S.—including Russia (minimizing Russian election interference or painting Western narratives on Ukraine with skepticism), the Syrian government under Bashar al-Assad, and the Chinese government.

Dienne77’s comment is quite shocking and appalling. Does she not realize that Ukraine was attacked by Russia, not vice versa. The Ukrainians are not about ready to surrender and cede their country to Russia, they are fighting this cruel invasion of their own free will. The Russians are the ones who could stop the carnage by getting the hell out of Ukraine now. Or how about they should not have invaded Ukraine in the first place!
So, according to Dienne, Russia can bomb Ukraine with impunity while Ukraine is not supposed to bomb Russian territory because………..huh?!!!!!!!!
Negotiated settlement??? Putin doesn’t want a negotiated settlement, he wants to continue the bloodshed and mayhem because he has no respect for Ukrainian sovereignty or freedom to exist. Wanting a negotiated settlement does NOT mean that the Ukrainians are ready to surrender, give up or cede more of their land to Russia, the aggressor.

Trump is a total stooge for Putin. He is busy stabbing Ukraine in the back repeatedly as the Ukrainians fight for their survival against the evil machinations of Putin. Trump calls for Zelensky to step down but is totally silent about the brutal tyrant, Putin; if anyone should step down, aside from Trump, it would be Putin. He should step down and then be deported to Siberia.

Joe Jersey: agreed. Putin is in a league with Stalin and Hitler. He has delusions of reassembling the USSR. Those were the “great times” of his KGB life. Our European allies were shocked that Trump threw his support to this tyrant. When Zelensky appeared at a meeting of European nations last eeek, he received a standing ovation.

The European Union is stepping up financial, military, and diplomatic support for Ukraine to bridge the gap left by Washington’s shifting policy under Autocratic MAGA President Donald Trump, which has included moves like lifting sanctions on Russian diesel.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked EU leaders for an additional €70 billion to €78 billion to fund Ukraine’s state operations, defense, and winterization efforts for 2026 and 2027.
The EU is looking to expand existing financial instruments, such as the $90 billion Ukraine Support Loan agreed to in late 2025.
EU leaders and member states are actively debating seizing or leveraging the €210 billion of immobilized Russian Central Bank assets housed mostly in Belgium (along with £25 billion in the UK) to fund Ukraine’s war effort and reconstruction, though countries like Belgium and France weigh the legal and financial risks.
Europe is supplying ammunition for F-16 fighter jets and backing winterization packages to protect Ukraine’s water and energy grids from heavy Russian missile and drone attacks.
Top EU diplomats, including EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, have publicly rejected U.S.-led pressure that attempts to force territorial concessions or surrender from Ukraine, stating that the bloc’s policy remains anchored in pressuring the aggressor rather than squeezing the victim.

From Anne Applebaum: If Putin stops fighting, the war ends. If Zelenskyy stops fighting then his country will be occupied, leaders murdered, language banned, businesses stolen, children kidnapped. That’s what happens in Russian-occupied Ukraine. end quote

If Putin wins it will be worse than what Stalin did to the Ukrainian farmers.
Joseph Stalin forced Ukrainian farmers into state-run collective farms, violently crushed their resistance, and engineered a man-made famine (known as the Holodomor) that killed an estimated 3.9 million people between 1932 and 1933.
Worse than how many died when Stalin built his far northeast Siberian Highway. Estimates of the death toll vary widely—ranging from roughly 125,000 to over 1 million deaths—because official Soviet records are incomplete, and historians debate the exact numbers for the R504 Kolyma Highway (commonly known as the “Road of Bones”
Under Putin’s administration, state efforts have increasingly suppressed independent documentation of Stalin-era mass repressions and Gulag atrocities to prevent parallels to modern authoritarian policies.
