Earlier today, a federal appeals court rejected an appeal by the Trump-selected board of the Kennedy Center to delay the removal of his name from the structure that houses the Center. They said in an unsigned decision that the board should comply with the decision of Federal Judge Christopher Cooper to remove Trump’s name by midnight tonight.
Construction crews began erecting scaffolding this morning but had to stop work because of a heavy rain. They resumed work and are still erecting the scaffold to reach Trump’s name.
Many media outlets are live-streaming the work in front of the building.
Jim Acosta is live-streaming the event along with hundreds of people who have come to witness the event.
Acosta has his own show and is also on Substack, YouTube, and BlueSky.
C-SPAN is also live-streaming the event, as are other cable networks and stations.
Almost midnight, and work on the scaffold continues. Odd the way they built the scaffold up til now. The left side doesn’t reach the letters THE DO.
The right side covers a large blank space.

This was a historic moment (if you want me to say, ”*an* historic moment,” fly me to England🤓): the first and so far (hoping for others) only highly visible physical act of T’s defiance of American principles being reversed. This is the portion of our government that still retains morals & ethics saying, “No!” to T. Sometimes it’s good for government to be bigger: it may limit efficiency (I’m looking at you, Elon), but it also takes longer to tear it down; & he has tried. Oh, has he tried!
Hiding the facade of the building behind a tarp to deny observers the opportunity view the actual removal of the letters from the wall was his final “F- you” to the American public — as close as he could come in reality to the AI video depiction of him dumping excrement on an American city from a plane. I like to think of that as his legacy.

There is still work to be done regarding The Kennedy Center. Trump in still Chair of the Board of Trustees and his 36 appointees to the board all have six-year terms. There is no programming after July 7 and none of the pink-slips handed out in connection with the closure have yet been rescinded. The institution is still in jeopardy because of Trump’s actions. Please be vigilant.

Yes, I’m aware that the board of the Kennedy Center is Trump flunkies, that there is no programming after it closes in a few weeks.
Putting himself and his cronies in charge has killed the Ken Dey Center.
As the adage goes, whatever Trump touches does.
He came to watch the Knicks, and every New Yorker blames him for their loss.

So happy they cleaned up this defacement. So much left to do to undo the campaign of self-puffery conducted by this moronic, traitorous, ignorant, egomaniacal, criminal, sexist, racist, lowlife grifter and would-be autocrat.

Meanwhile, Trump is rushing to complete his ugly fascist triumphal arch. Workers will work 20 hours a day.
And the horse statues at the mall are being gilded with solid gold.
And something about a Trump road behind the Lincoln Monument.
Hoping for rain on Sunday, meaning no cage match.
He’s a vulgarian.

It would be great to see, in the near future, a Truth and Reconciliation Committee charged with bringing the Trump grifters and traitors and kidnappers and child murderers to justice.

The goal must be the restoration of public values, not just swapping one faction’s influence for another’s.

Correct. The Kennedy Center had a bipartisan, nonpolitical board of trustees from the first day it opened.
Congress should add that requirement to its charter so that no president ever turns a personal vanity project.
In addition, the independent boards should have charters that insulate them from presidential whim and vengeance. Trump has demolished the independence of every independent commission.
