Station KARE in Minneapolis reported:
MINNEAPOLIS — The man shot and killed by a federal agent in Minneapolis on Saturday has been identified as Alex Pretti.
The Associated Press reported Pretti’s parents confirmed his identity, and that he worked as an ICU nurse.
State records show Pretti was issued a nursing license in 2021, we’ve also confirmed he worked for some time at US Dept of Veterans Affairs as a nurse.
Pretti was an American citizen.

Before Pretti’s killing, Governor Tim Walz activated the Minnesota National Guard to assist local police in maintaining safety.
The Minnesota Star Tribune reported that Pretti had criminal record. He had parking tickets. He was a licensed gun owner.
Just moments earlier, Border Patrol Cmdr. Greg Bovino said at a press conference that the man who was killed “wanted to do maximum damage to agents.”
Walz rejected that as a false narrative.
“Thank God we have video,” Walz said. “It’s nonsense people. It’s nonsense and it’s lies.”

When killed by 10 shots, Alex Pretti did not have a gun in his hand. An ICE officer removed his licensed gun, which he never drew.

This is why Democrats lose. As Mike Lofgren said 16 years ago : Democrats do not know how to use language. “ Nonsense “ no it is not. He should have said that this is murder and the murderous thugs who committed it will eventually be held accountable. As well as the fascist thugs they work for . Right up to the White House

Joel: This is beyond a “like” (what is a “like?” in a situation such as this). What you wrote: Murder. What IS “nonsense” is the pussyfooting & cowardice of Congress…Republicans AND Democrats. Frey, Walz & Klobuchar–keep pushing. PUSH your colleagues into not just doing the right thing but taking the necessary steps to save lives.

Parking tickets are not a criminal record. Parking tickets are civil infractions, not criminal. And anyway, the victim’s criminal record or lack thereof is irrelevant. The man was gunned down in cold blood by “law enforcement” (sic) agents. I wouldn’t care if he were the reincarnated spirit of Al Capone, there was no justification for shooting him.

Agreed. He was a good man.

Of course, the White House will continue to tell BIG LIES because their followers are more likely to believe them.
We’re living tragedy.

I have been thinking a lot about the phantom left wing. You know, the violent people republicans have been warning us about for years.
There used to be a left wing that was extreme. The Molly Maguires terrorized in their day. Labor advocated for workers rights in the days when on the job injury killed 500 people a year on Massachusetts railroads alone. They often advocated with real violence.
Today we see right wing violence. We have seen it ever since Timothy McVeigh bombed the federal building in Oklahoma City. Ever since Aaron Bundy seized Malheur National Wildlife Refuge and walked free.
Trump talks of left wing radicals, but he has to make them up. His left wing radicals hand scalpels to doctors and record urine amounts.

Funny How you mention the Molly Maguires and forgot about Carnage and Frick’s Pinkerton thugs in 1892 at Homestead . Right to Nazi Henry Fords Battle of the Overpass gave the US the bloodiest labor history in the world . With a million rounds of ammo fired at blair Mountain. The right was always murderous ! It did not start with McVeigh
If he were alive you might consult Woody Guthrie who barely escaped being beaten in Peekskill NY in 1949. Same vile creatures.

Yet another U.S. citizen murdered execution-style inspired by MAGA Republicans’ psychopathic President and his crazed Cabinet of sycophants, plain and simple. They and their President’s psychopathy would dare have us believe the lies they tell contrary to the obvious truth we see.

“After the past three weeks of brutality in Minneapolis, it should no longer be possible to say that the Trump administration seeks merely to govern this nation. It seeks to reduce us all to a state of constant fear — a fear of violence from which some people may at a given moment be spared, but from which no one will ever be truly safe. That is our new national reality. State terror has arrived.”I wish M. Gessen wasn’t right all the time. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/24/opinion/state-terror-has-arrived.html?unlocked_article_code=1.HFA.VnwX.2TyQ9AmibnGx&smid=url-share

Cold-blooded murder.

&, from what I saw & heard, like Renee Good (o.b.m.), Mr. Pretti was shot multiple times (it sound like many more shots than Ms. Good suffered). As if he could have further resisted/hurt the ICE agents, let alone move. Cold-blooded murder, indeed.
(& in a newspaper article this morning, ICE agent says to a mourner, “Oh, boo hoo!”)

I heard that Alex Pretti was shot 10 times. Why?

ICE is a tool of provocation. The newbies in ICE are not well trained, or they are violent by nature. The president is working on a narrative to suspend the midterm elections.

Here are two letters wrote to the Times and my representatives:
Letters on Minnesota:
To the Times:
When Trump declared that he could shoot someone on 5th avenue it was, perhaps, the most honest statement he has ever made. When his military began killing more than 100 men in boats in the Caribbean AND PACIFIC, he was acting on that belief. When more than thirty have died in immigration, make that concentration, camps he was acting on that belief. As ICE brownshirts are murdering citizens of Minneapolis right before our eyes, he is acting on his proclamation. 7 Democrats in the House just voted to fund Homeland Security last week. They basically reinforced the Supreme Courts declaration of absolute immunity. I’m tired of “honorable” people resigning. Hold these criminals to account!
To Representatives:
Where are you? Why aren’t you and every other Democratic Representative in the streets of Minnesota? This will be Atlanta in a few weeks or months if you do not confront it there. Explain to me why 7 Democratic members of the House voted to fund DHS. How can a single Democrat support any bills right now! This is not just Donald Trump. This is the entire Republican Party. Their action or complicity means they want us to become a Kleptocracy. I don’t want speeches not covered by the media in the Well of the Senate. I don’t want stern letters addressed to the White House. I want to see the courage required to hold murderers accountable. Not just those pulling the trigger, but those hiding in the Whitehouse calling the shots (pun intended). Please! Show some backbone.
I am tired of feeling like a voice crying in the wilderness and watching a Democratic Party site on their hands. I attend protest marches and participate with Indivisible, but our Government doesn’t care. I’m tired of a Democratic Party that makes it difficult to reach out to the so called Leaders of the House. I’m tired of learning that Democratic members of the House vote with Republicans to fund Homeland Security. I’m tired of seeing murders committed by my government on the street. There are many who claim to be leaders, but fail to act as one. Oh yeah, I’m tired of going to Congressional websites that show pictures of John Lewis while refusing to act like him. Good Trouble my ass…
