As you recall, I wrote here that I believe that Putin rigged our election. I don’t know how but the best hacking leaves no tracks. But “no evidence” is not evidence. No one is investigating.
But there is more.
A woman named Julia Davis translates Russian media and posts what the Russian press reports.
Tass, the main Russian newspaper, wrote this on November 11:
Trump to rely on forces that brought him to power — Russian presidential aide
Nikolay Patrushev agreed that Trump, when he was still a candidate, “made many statements critical of the destructive foreign and domestic policies pursued by the current administration”
MOSCOW, November 11. /TASS/. In his future policies, including those on the Russian track US President-elect Donald Trump will rely on the commitments to the forces that brought him to power, rather than on election pledges, Russian presidential aide Nikolay Patrushev told the daily Kommersant in an interview.
“The election campaign is over,” Patrushev noted. “To achieve success in the election, Donald Trump relied on certain forces to which he has corresponding obligations. As a responsible person, he will be obliged to fulfill them.”
He agreed that Trump, when he was still a candidate, “made many statements critical of the destructive foreign and domestic policies pursued by the current administration.”
“But very often election pledges in the United States can diverge from subsequent actions,” he recalled.
Republican Donald Trump outperformed the candidate from the ruling Democratic Party, Vice President Kamala Harris, in the US elections held on November 5. Trump will take office on January 20, 2025. During the election campaign Trump mentioned his peace-oriented, pragmatic intentions, including in relations with Russia.

NUDE PICTURES OF MELANIA TRUMP SHOWN ON RUSSIAN TV!!!
Russian television has been showing nude photos of Melania Trump while the program hosts laugh. And nothing gets on Russian TV without Putin’s approval.
Putin is showing Trump just what Putin thinks of Trump — and signaling to Trump who’s going to be dominant in their dealings with each other.
Putin has humiliated Trump and has humiliated every American — Trump should humiliate Putin by unleashing Ukraine to beat him. Imagine: Putin the Powerful trumped by li’l ol’ Ukraine.

And we don’t really know that no one is “investigating”. Unless the Biden Team submitted to a mass cosmic lobotomy, anticipation & protection would have been the covert, carefully crafted protocol from Day One. Layer Putin on top of Netanyahu Techies, Musk, Iran + China and the collaboration is both widespread and sophisticated. But perhaps not all that secret.
There is no point in announcing what is being looked into because absolutely everyone would be blowing up in brand new ways all over the place.

Even if some of the picks are not what MAGA wants, Trump fires people faster than a hiccup, as the malignant narcissist, sociopath, lifelong cheater, serial liar, convicted rapist, fraud and felon Donald Trump, who became a traitor on January 6, 2021, keeps looking for people who will sign his NDA and loyalty oath to him. Trump demands total obedience and loyalty from his minions. He’s much closer to getting that total for Trump 2.0.
The choice is Trump vs the U.S. Constitution.

Not a fan of either but they are by far the most palatable cabinet picks so far.

I don’t think that Putin actually rigged the election, he certainly probably tried to influence the election or tried to foment chaos, confusion, mayhem and bitterness between Americans. Who needs Putin, Americans can do this all on their own without any help from foreign interlopers.
The election was “rigged” by the millions of Americans who voted for Trump or Jill Stein and the Americans who did not even vote because of US support for Israel or for whatever reason. Now we are stuck with a vicious demagogue and his even more vile henchmen and miscreants.
Side note: Hoping that Bob Shepherd is feeling better, on the mend and can soon make his contributions to the Diane Ravitch blog.

Completely agree, Joe.
Americans chose to accept the reality that right-wing media and social media algorithms push at them.
I sometimes hear comments from neighbors that aren’t mean-spirited or vicious but definitely parrot things they’ve heard from these sources. These are neighbors that are good people that have been part of a mutually supportive network for twenty years. It has shaped their reality.
I just think that America is very siloed and we are not living in the same realities. I don’t think there is any going back. People seek out their “media” from convenient sources. Why get a subscription to legacy media when you can just read articles that show up in your feed or have Fox Channel on in the background all day? (Down the street, I have one neighbor that has Fox on all day. All day.)

Steven,
Very dear friends of mine for many years fell into a silo. They watched FOX and only FOX. We reached a point where we couldn’t talk anymore. Very sad. They lost all their old friends without finding new ones.

Have been missing Bob. Agree that the Rusdd as isn’t contribution to the Trump election did not have to be very invasive. That said, Steven’s comments on the siloed mentality resonate with me. Literally, the silage at the top of a silo at this time of year is pretty rotten.

Thanks, folks, for your kind concern. I will be back. I was in the hospital with a life-threatening infection caught wading in flood waters. And there’s a lot going on in my personal life. And I am hard at work on a new video series on Christian Existentialism.
But I will be back for these chats with my dear friends.
Sometimes you have to go through utter darkness before the dawn. We have interesting times coming.

The GOP doesn’t need him to be an obstructionist in The House anymore. Gaetz can make mischief with the judicial system instead.

Rumors also kicking around on Twitter that there is discussion of using Article 3 (which allows the president to adjourn Congress when both houses of Congress can’t agree on a time to adjourn) to unilaterally adjourn Congress and make his cabinet picks recess appointments.
I can’t help but wonder whether the Gaetz (and Hegseth’s) appointment isn’t a ploy to get Congress so freaked out that when Trump withdraws them and submits the real crazy (but facially more qualified) picks, they’re easily confirmed.

Now that the House has also been projected as a win for the GOP, along with the Senate, SCOTUS & POTUS, that locks out Democrats for at least two years –until the next mid-term elections– so I don’t know how Dems could possibly save democracy from fascism now.
This is so unsettling to me and the more I’ve thought about it, I’ve been able to recall now wondering why, despite the low turnouts at his last rallies, it seemed to me at the time that tRump was sure of winning. All the dancing, periods of not speaking, sitting in a chair, cancelling etc., seemed like phoning it in to me. So now I can’t help but wonder if he knew in advance he was going to win because it was going to be somehow rigged in his favor. And the fact that it’s skewed towards Republicans on so many different levels is very suspicious to me.
So now I’m also wondering if the richest billionaire in America AND the richest billionaire in Russia BOTH tried to buy votes. Even if it was just with the promise to pay later, the communications should be able to be tracked with programs like PRISM. So I’ve been sending tweets to Biden & Harris urging them to look into it and I came here to say just that — if anyone here has an inside voice to the WH: please also tell them to use their high tech communications tracking programs to check into this matter ASAP!

P.S. I also suggested they contact Bill Gates for help because as a Democrat who’s a billionaire and a techy, he might be able to tell them what to look for, not just how…

The appointments seem to be not only an “in your face” flaunt of power to Republicans and Democrats alike, but also a Trump “loyalty rewards” program. Hegseth, Gabbard, and Gaetz have all been Trump loyalists, and they’ve all portrayed themselves as “victims” when they’ve been criticized – rightly – for endorsing war crimes and Russian propaganda and sedition.
Trump considers himself, a man who is a narcissist and psychopath, as the ultimate “victim.” These people are HIS people, his compatriots, his vehicles for vengeance.
They’re also all highly unqualified and unfit for their jobs.
Here’s a piece from the New Republic, Trump 2.0, and what it means for the near future. No one knows for sure, that’s true. But this outlines some real possibilities, none them pretty.

It’s a hugely problematic statement but it is still true as one works to find order and the answers to some questions that need answering: The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
Because of the time we are in, I would add to that, nor is absence of evidence a mandate for filling the vacuum with whatever one wants. CBK
