The New York Times reported on Trump’s rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin yesterday, where he laid out the Trump Paternalism Doctrine.
He said he would protect women “whether they like it or not.”
Like he “protected” women by stripping away their reproductive rights?
Like he “protected” the women who accused him of sexual assault?
Women want to make their own decisions.
The story in the Times by Nicholas Nehamas and Erica L. Green pulled no punches, offered no “both sides”:
Former President Donald J. Trump said at a rally on Wednesday that he would protect American women “whether the women like it or not” — remarks that he cast as paternal but only served as reminders to many of his critics of his history of misogynistic statements and a civil court case that found him liable for sexual abuse…
Ms. Harris quickly sought to respond, writing on X: “Donald Trump thinks he should get to make decisions about what you do with your body. Whether you like it or not.” Her campaign posted a series of videos on social media emphasizing Mr. Trump’s remarks. And it sent out a news release that blared: “In Wisconsin, Trump reminds women how little he values their choices…
Over the course of the campaign, Mr. Trump and his allies have made a series of misogynistic, sexualized attacks against Ms. Harris. In August, Mr. Trump used his social media website to amplify a crude remarkabout her that falsely suggested she had traded sexual favors to help her political career. On Sunday, at his Madison Square Garden rally, one speaker referred to Ms. Harris as having “pimp handlers.” And a super PAC financed by his ally Elon Musk released an ad that called her a “C word,” although the ad eventually revealed that the word was “communist,” rather than the slur for women.
Mr. Trump has been accused by roughly two dozen women of sexual misconduct. In 2016, the “Access Hollywood” tape caught him boasting about grabbing women by the genitals, remarks he later dismissed as “locker room banter.” The writer E. Jean Carroll said he raped her in the dressing room of a Manhattan department store in the 1990s. In civil proceedings, Mr. Trump was found liable for sexually abusing and defaming Ms. Carroll, and ordered to pay hefty fines. Mr. Trump is appealing the case.

I do not want or need his protection!!!

I cannot help recalling the double standard concerning aberrant sexual behavior. Al Franken makes a joke, he’s gone. Garrison Keillor is accused of impropriety, his show goes off NPR. Trump brags of assault, then is held liable for another, and close to half the electorate is willing to look past it, or is willing to cynically ignore it.

The difference, Roy, is that people not named Trump have a sense of shame. Nixon quit to avoid being impeached. Trump didn’t. He denies everything. When his hand is in the cookie jar, he insists it’s not. Or someone made him do it. Or the cookie jar grabbed his hand. He learned from Roy Cohn: deny everything, blame anyone.

As you may already know: Although the E. Jean Carroll jury found the evidence insufficient to hold T***p liable for rape under then-New York State law, the judge later ruled that “what the jury found Trump did was in fact rape, as commonly understood” (Washington Post, July 19, 2024). T***p is an adjudicated rapist. ’Tis pity that the word adjudicated doesn’t translate easily from Legalese, but it’s kosher to declare, “T***p has been judged to have committed rape.”

How ironic it is that sexual predator, DJT, seeks to protect women. Trump is a convicted rapist. He is also known for making creepy, inappropriate comments about his own daughter. He also has a reputation for walking into dressing rooms at beauty pageants he promoted. Contestants from both the Miss USA Pageant and the Miss Teen USA confirm these allegations He is a former friend of Jeffrey Epstein, and he is a serial cheater on the women in his life. Trump is an exploiter of women that are gullible enough to believe anything he says.

I do not need or want Dirty Hands Trump protecting my wife or any other woman in this country. My wife has been more than capable to protect herself from the likes of him for all her life. She is now 81 years young. Maureen is a free spirit that has been able to do what she wants when she wants will all my total support. She raised our two daughters to be free thoughtful thinkers who married men who also support them to be who they want to be — strong intelligent independent women who are making a positive difference in their communities.
Men across this country should stand up and tell Trump and all those like him to back off and leave our wives and daughters alone to live their lives as they see fit. Men should help support their wives and daughters by helping to ensure with their votes that this jackass does not get back in office.

I’ve spent some time in locker rooms before and I never heard anyone talk like that. Even in the barracks, while I was still in the US Marine Corps. And Marines make potty mouths look good.
That kind of talk may be heard in bars after too many beers. But even then, it would be rare to hear any man bragging like that about women. He might get punched.
My only older brother, who died in 1999, talked like that all the time. Anywhere. Everywhere. When he saw a woman he wanted. He cheated on both of his wives almost every Friday. His first stop after payday was a bar where he got drunk and worked overtime to pick up someone who was also drunk.
To make sure they could pay the bills and feed their six children, his wife showed up at work on Friday and collected most of his pay, leaving him enough to get drunk on his Friday night grab them by the “what Traitor Trump said.”
My older brother also spent about 15 years in prison/jail.
I think the convicted rapist, fraud and felon Traitor Trump has spent too much time around mafia members who also served time. Jeffery Epstein (Trump said he was a terrific guy) probably talked the same way about women.

Trump really does talk like a mafia don. The same threatening language suggesting the “retribution” that Trump will reign on those who don’t do what he demands.
