After telling the National Association of Black Journalists that Kamala Harris “turned black” and that she used to portray herself as Indian, Trump was roundly criticized for raising the issue of her race. Kamala is the daughter of an India-born scientist and a Jamaica-born father who is an economist. She has never denied her biracial heritage.
Yet Trump released a photo of Kamala with her mother’s family, who are Indian, hoping to prove that she only recently “turned black.” This is ridiculous. Kamala went to a black university and joined a black sorority.
Some Republicans thought his attack on Kamala was embarrassing but he’s still the party’s candidate, and they still support the convicted felon.
The New York Daily News reported:
Former President Trump on Thursday posted a photograph of Vice President Kamala Harris wearing an Indian sari as he continued to push false racially charged claims that the Democratic presidential candidate isn’t really Black.A day after accusing Harris of only recently claiming Black heritage, Trump leaned into the controversy by sharing the photo of Harris wearing traditional Indian attire alongside her mother and maternal relatives.
“Thank you Kamala for the nice picture you sent from many years ago! Trump wrote on his social media site. “Your warmth, friendship, and love of your Indian Heritage are very much appreciated,”
The message came as Trump and his campaign showed no signs of backing away from the firestorm controversy he launched during a contentious 35-minute sparring match with reporters at the National Association of Black
Trump’s campaign posted a headline depicting Harris as the “first Indian-American senator” elected from California as he addressed a rally in Pennsylvania.J.D. Vance, Trump’s vice presidential running mate, praised Trump for having the courage to respond honestly to tough questions and slammed Harris as a “chameleon.”
Harris’ father is a Black immigrant from Jamaica and she has always proudly claimed both Black and South Asian heritage. She attended Howard University, a historically Black college, and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, a historically Black sorority.
Like most mixed-race people, Harris says there is nothing to be ashamed of about having roots in more than one culture or continent.
Moderate Republicans Thursday distanced themselves from Trump’s gibe as pundits branded the statement as an unforced error that could fuel Democratic political momentum.
New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu joined Maryland Senate candidate Larry Hogan and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) in trashing Trump for the divisive and untrue claim.
“The path to victory in November is not won through character attacks or personal insults,” Sununu tweeted Thursday.
Haha, expecting Trump to abandon character attacks and personal insults is far-fetched. What else would he talk about? Policy? But he never read the briefing books and knows nothing about policy.

Some people are too dimwitted to grasp the concept that two sides of a family can be of different ethnicities. Any former Presidents fit that description?

Personally, I think this over-the-top nonsense is precisely what will lose them the election. It may mobilize the worst of their base, but those undecided are highly unlikely to love the racism.

Re “Trump Doubles Down on his Racist Remarks about Kamala”
Well, of course he did . . . what else has he got? Thom Hartmann puts Trump in his “Fat Elvis” phase, singing the same old songs to an aging clientele. Don’t expect something new, like humility, or even decent policy proposals. He doesn’t have it in him.

Besides being an ultra-micromanager, Traitor Trump is also known to do whatever he wants to do. Even his daughter Ivanka said he only listens to them (his family) about a third of the time, and even then, he may change his mind and do what they told him he shouldn’t do.
Sometime in his distant past, he decided to l only listen to the negative voices in his head.
Traitor Trump believes his own lies about him being a stable genus and being smarter than everyone else on the planet. He’s totally invested in revenge on those that won’t give him what he wants. Money to survive and then get out of his way as he lies about that, too.
Traitor Trump’s history of failures goes back to his childhood and is littered with failures (why he hides his school transcripts while lying about that too), and he always lies and blames someone else for those decisions that he made that went wrong.
It wasn’t Michael Cohn’s idea to pay Stormy Daniels to keep her trap shut about Traitor Trump paying her for sex while Melania was pregnant with Baron. All Cohen did was what “the boss” told him to do and from what I heard; Cohen worried about being paid back because “The Boss” also has a history of cheating everyone he owes.
I think this is another one of Traitor Trump’s massive blunders. He is and always has been his own worst enemy. Thank God!

Years ago some of my co-workers who came from the Islands would insist that they were not Negros( dating this). They sadly learned that even as much as they protested; as their children grew up without an Islander accent they were treated exactly as if they were American Blacks. Treated by employers and police. An Irishman, an Italian even an Eastern European Jew can hide their Identity and assimilate. A person of color can not. Not in America where those who have the slightest bit of non Caucasian features are viewed as non whites. So even if the facts were not on Kamala’s side. Trumps attacks on her prove that she is a woman of color. She went to an all Black school because she was treated as a Woman of Color. Not a woman of Asian descent . Treated as a Black woman(! ) of color. We would not be having the conversation if she were Southern Italian. Of course in the 1890s-1920s we would have.

This is a great analysis. Color has been so important in American History. I recently read of a person who was able to become successful in business during the 1880s by lying about their African blood, since they looked more European. After the fugitive slave act was passed in 1850, it became dangerous to look African all over the country.

I guess next, he will be calling for her “fake” birth certificate to be produced for the world to see. This is just more of trump doing what trump does best….blathering inane s–t and then crying “poor me” when/if he gets called out for it. Personally, let him just keep on running his mouth and ranting/raging like a complete lunatic because it really makes people cringe.

I read that Trump has already dug up Kamala’s birth certificate. It confirms what she said. Her father was born in Jamaica. Her mother was born in India.

The way I see this is that Republicans are doubling down on the method they used to control Obama. They perceived him as radical (he was not) left (he was perhaps right of center) so they allowed the fringe of the Republican Party to become active in stirring race issues. This blossomed into the tea party, which produced a false positive in the election of Donald Trump in 2016. I call it a false positive because it gave mainstream Republicans the illusion that an alliance between big money and racist trope that appeals to those who fear change would secure a power base. It failed in the mod-term in 22, and now the party, now completely Trump, is pursuing the same path.

One problem Trump and his MAGA acolytes have is they operate within a very narrow echo chamber. They simply believe they are part of an American majority that agrees with their vile bigotry. That’s why Trump and Vance continue to spew their nonsense. The challenge for Democrats is to get the mainstream media to point this out.

Different cultures? Certainly.
Different races and mixed-race? Nonsense.
Why is Kamala Harris’ father “Black?”
Wikipedia: “Harris’s paternal grandmother, born Christiana Brown, was descended from Irish-born plantation owner Hamilton Brown, who founded the local Anglican Church where she is buried. Hamilton Brown owned at least 1120 slaves, most of them on sugar plantations in Saint Ann Parish and was ‘instrumental in the importing of several hundred labourers and their families from Ireland to Jamaica between 1835 and 1840.’”
So, why is Kamala Harris’s father “Black” and exclusively so of his Irish heritage?
Carlos Von Linneaus (1707-1788) is credited with having inadvertently given rise to modern racism with his invented “four races” classification of human beings based on apparent physical differences that then indicate moral character traits, disposition, and behavior. Every race other than Europeaus was a degenerate race, with Africanus being the most degenerate. Accordingly, the race of a mixed-race person became that of the most degenerate race of the pair. Thus, “white supremacy” is assured, as no degenerate race can birth a Europeaus child and every Europeaus in a mixed relationship can only birth a child of the degenerate race involved.
This insidiousness would become the “one drop rule,” which is still prevalent and so quickly applied today as if it were the reality. Even more insidious was the “brown bag test.”
Will we ever learn or even become willing to let go Linneaus’ “race” invention, which is an obvious lie?
As long as we keep on normalizing “race is a social construct” instead of ever challenging the lie that it is in reality, the longer and more resilient racism will become harder to get rid of. This is the problem with “diversity” alone, not to mention DEI. It should be obvious that diversity by race implies sustaining white supremacy hence racism. In reality, human beings are not diverse by race. Culture? Yes. But not by race.
