I promise I won’t put up a post every time Trump lies, because he lies multiple times a day. But since CNN considers this lie newsworthy, here goes.
Daniel Dale, the CNN fact-checker, wrote:
Former President Donald Trump has falsely claimed, again, that he had to post a bond in order to appeal a $454 million civil fraud judgment against him – and falsely claimed, again, that Judge Arthur Engoron did something unusual in forcing him to post a bond during the appeal process.
On Tuesday, the morning after Trump posted the $175 million bond necessary to prevent New York’s attorney general from beginning to collect on Engoron’s judgment, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee wrote on social media: “I had to pay New York State in order to appeal a corrupt decision by a biased, crooked and highly overturned judge. It’s supposed to be the other way around – you appeal before you pay. Is a crooked New York Judge allowed to make you pay for the ‘privilege’ of appealing a wrongful & corrupt decision??? NOT IN AMERICA!!!”
Trump made similar claims in March, claiming, for example, that “Engoron wants me to put up the ridiculous fine (I DID NOTHING WRONG!) before I get a chance to Appeal his crazed ruling – A first!”
Facts First: Trump’s claims are comprehensively untrue. He was not required to post a bond in order to appeal Engoron’s ruling; he began the appeal process in February, more than a month before he posted the bond. And the requirement he actually faced – to post a bond to prevent collection during the appeal process – was not “a first” or some unusual requirement created by Engoron. In fact, the requirement is set out by New York state law, and it is regularly applied in civil cases in the state.
“This is literally the way that the NY rules of court are designed to work, and actually work every day,” Mitchell Epner, a former federal prosecutor who is now a litigator in private practice in New York, told CNN in March. He said at the time that the rules being applied to Trump “are applied every day in New York courts, on verdicts of all sizes,” though the size of the judgment against Trump was notably large. Epner added: “Donald Trump is either horribly misinformed or lying.”
And there is no evidence for Trump’s repeated claims that Engoron is “crooked” or “corrupt.”
Under New York law for civil cases, it is standard to have to post a bond (or cash) in the full amount of a judgment in order to secure a stay that prevents collection during the appeal. In March, Trump falsely claimed this was an unprecedented Engoron requirement. Later in March, after Trump’s lawyers told a New York appeals court that it had proven impossible to secure a bond for more than $450 million, the appeals court decided that Trump could put up a lower amount, $175 million.
Epner told CNN at the time that “it’s highly unusual that it would be reduced at all,” and “highly unusual that it would be reduced by this amount,” though not unprecedented.
If Trump had not posted a bond and if New York Attorney General Letitia James had collected on the judgment, and then Trump had eventually won the case on appeal, James would have been required to return any collected money to Trump along with interest.

I am exhausted with the insanity. But this is really scary. Also, do you know Adam Mockler? If not, he is worth the watch. Blessings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alOO4TH37cw

He did not want to give up his things. If James did collect the entire world would find out that he has very large mortgages on each property and in the case of the tower in NY, he only owns one unit not the entire building. Hence that bran would be a big lie.

Why Traitor Trump lies? Because his lies work for his supporters.
Anyone that still a MAGARINO mafia member does not fact check. They willingly believe whatever the Traitor says, and the media helps him by reporting the Traitor’s lies without headlines that should always say Trump LIES AGAIN!
If the traditional media mentions that Trump was wrong, it probably isn’t in the headline or first paragraph.
For Traitor’s MAGARINO followers, that would have to be in the headline because if they read/watch anything outside of Lying Truth Social and/or FOX fake NEWS, it would be a headline.

It will come as no surprise to regular readers of the comments on this blog that I detest Donald Trump, aka Don the Con, aka The Idiot. If we had a justice system for the rich in the U.S., instead of a Just Us system, he would long, long ago have gone to prison for his many, many extraordinarily serious crimes, including sedition, treason, fraud, rape, conspiracy to interfere with official proceedings, blatant housing discrimination, stealing from a children’s charity, multiple counts of criminal threat, and so on. But this business regarding valuation of real estate seems to me to be on shaky ground. Real estate is notoriously volatile and in the end is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. It’s not at all unusual for a property to double or halve in price after it is put on the market, depending on quite capricious factors. Did the trial show that the Trump Organization valued property dramatically differently for different audiences AT THE SAME TIME? Then the verdict makes sense. Otherwise, it seems to me a tenuous argument. I have a classical guitar that I built that I would not part with for anything less than a million bucks. Is it worth that? To me it is.

Quite possible he underrated the properties for tax purposes WHILE overrating them for better loan deals…

Bob,
I have not read the details of the charges but from my reading, I think they went far beyond subjective valuations of property.

When the end comes for Donald Trump and he is tucked away in his grave (on one of the TO’s golf courses, so his sons can get the tax break?), his tombstone should read:
Here lies Donald Trump.
But that’s nothing new.

Haiti is in a whole lot of trouble at the moment because the multiple gangs have decided to unite. The US right is doing the same here at home, and there’s a lot of money behind their efforts.
“In a rare display of unity, more than 100 conservative tax-exempt organizations have joined forces in support of Donald Trump and the MAGA agenda, forming a $2 billion-plus political machine.”
“Together, these organizations are constructing a detailed postelection agenda, lining up prospective appointees and backing Trump in his legal battles.”
“Most of the work performed by these nonprofit groups is conducted behind closed doors. Unlike traditional political organizations, these groups do not disclose their donors and must reveal only minimal information on expenditures. In many cases, even this minimal information will not be available until after the 2024 election.”
“Nonprofits like these are able to maintain a cloak of secrecy by positioning themselves as “charitable organizations” under section 501(c)(3) of the tax code or as “social welfare organizations” under section 501(c)(4).”
Of course, this looks familiar to readers of the blog; the billionaires have been doing this to our public schools for two decades now.

Why am I reminded of Paul von Hindenburg and others thinking that they could appoint Hitler chancellor and then contain and control him?

A better idea, Christine! I’m a big fan of Death by Coffee.
I just bought some Silver Needles (an exquisite and pricy white tea from Fujian Province, in China), and some Dragonwell. Here, a little background on the latter:

Longjing, or Dragonwell, Tea comes from Hangzhou, in Zhejiang Province, China. It is named after the currents in this ancient well (pictured in the link) in the region, which are said to take the shape of a dragon.
I’m also a big fan of pu-erhs. These are Chinese fermented teas. And of oolongs, especially milky oolong, from Taiwan.

I do love a properly brewed cup of tea. I’m fortunate to have an excellent local source; they do ship: Mem Tea.
My daughter lives in Casablanca at the moment; a friend of hers is the chef de cuisine at the Four Seasons restaurant there. Morocco is dry by ordinance of the King with few exceptions, so he’s been exploring tea pairings in lieu of wine. Despite the omnipresence of tea (roadside vendors rush out among cars stuck in morning traffic bearing teapots), few places have properly prepared tea. He’s aiming to change that. My kind of guy!

Perhaps, Chistine, your daughter’s friend can woo Moroccans away from godawful sugary mint tea. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get information from him about his tea pairings!!! This is a topic I care a LOT about.

While I was visiting, my daughter treated me to high tea in Marrakech at the Royal Mansour – see https://www.royalmansour.com/en/marrakech/dining/afternoon-tea/
It was delightful, but even there, with the impeccable service and Limoges china, the tea was not properly brewed. So very disappointing! Her friend commiserated with me and vowed that Four Seasons Casablanca would meet the standards you recommend.
He was just beginning his tea pairings quest, but I’ll post them to you in finished form.

Christine: I add my approval of your post. It is very hard to arrive at any other conclusion.
Bob: I think the Republicans had their Hindenburg moment when he was elected in 2016. His various handlers tried and failed to contain him, and from Pompeo to Bart, they had to drop out or face some catastrophe they had never imagined. This time the supporters are truly without hope of changing him. Rather they hope for the same thing he wants: freedom for depredations. Finally, on our camping trip to Minnesota last summer, we were introduced to Caribou Coffee. The denizens of that fair state all swear a fealty to this chain of coffee houses. Considering the dominant position of Lutherans there, and considering that By their own admission , coffee is a sacrament, perhaps they are correct.
